Hi rtkcandy,
how nice to see your review!
Just wondered if you could tell me the following:-
In your opinion what was the beach like and was there any watersports?
Was the Tropical Hotel actually open at all, e.g. pools etc.?
Where did you fly from?
Thanks.
The only thing I really wanted to know on top of all that was how the beach was too.
Thanks again!

hey there!
In your opinion what was the beach like and was there any watersports?
The beach wasn't fantastic, the sand is quite dark and is pebbly towards the sea,i only went in to my ankles in the sea but i would've liked to go in further.i have heard that the currents are very strong though so i wouldnt recomend kids going in.i didnt see anyone sunbathing atall on the beach so if you're looking for somewhere quiet to lounge thats definately the place. The reasons the beach is hwo it is is because of endangered turtles who are laying there eggs in the sand,i went down there 3 times to look for them but i couldn't see any:(.theres no sunbeds or sunshades there but there is a shower to wash your feet. There is is a guy that runs parasailing,i didnt actually do it but from reading previous posts from lasy year it was apparently good:) The hotel really does have plently of sunbeds and space around the pool so unless you're a real beach bather you'll find everything you need by the pools,if you really like to go on the beach you'll have all the space you need but i wouldnt go in the sea on your own.
Was the Tropical Hotel actually open at all, e.g. pools etc.?
We didn't venture over to the Tropical hotel but from what the rep told me was that is wasn't open atall apart from the pools which you could use.
Where did you fly from?
We flew from Bristol and although we had an hour delay on the plane all went well:)
hope i helped!if theres anything else you think i can help with just ask
candyxx
Thanks.
rtkcandy...... were the pools cold and how bad were the mozzies? glad you had a good time,
were the pools cold and how bad were the mozzies?
The pools are cold when you first put your feet in,but as soon asmy boyfriend pushed me in i felt much better.as soon as you are in and have a little swim about you can't really notice and they were so nice to jump into after lazing in the hot sun.I think it was in the 30's while we were there so nice and hot.
and as for the mosquitos,i don't know how i managed it,but i got bitten 7 times, all on my legs and feet.My boyfriend however didnt get touched atall and neither did any of the other people i talked to when i was there.i saw 2 or three people witha few bites but nothing drastic.
Try not to let them ruin you're holiday ,on the first night i was getting frustrated but as soon as id been bitten i was fine haha.
I do reccomend amonia stick called after bite i think, you can buy it in ASDA for £3.You just put it on after you get bitten (if you do) and it stops the itching,i definately recomend it.I wore anti mosquito spray everynight and stilg ot bitten so i think it may work for some people and not others but i'd stil take some.I didnt see one in our room but at night make sure you shut the door and mosquito net if you go on the balacony/terrace atall.\
overall they wern'e a problem
hope i helped!xxx
I too am flying from Bristol to Dalaman on 22nd May with First Choice. Were originally going to the Palace but now changed to different destination but same flight. As a nervous flyer can you tell me a bit about the flight, i.e. what aircraft, if airbus, is it better than boeing as thats all I have ever flown, how long did the flight actually take? etc. and what were the movies like? Any information/help/advice would help as I'm starting to get sleepless nights now! Thanks.
Thanks for the great review. Can you tell me did they do the beach party? Are they still doing the free ice cream? Would you say the evening entertainment was enough to keep two 30 somethings and a 10 year old happy? Also did you use lira or euro?
Thanks a lot for all your help. It all sounds great and I'm sooooooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!

How does it feel to be so popular? Just a couple more questions.....
Can you give us an idea of what sort of entertainment is available for families in the evening?
Was the entertainment outside and was it really that cold in the evening?
Could you see the building site from the pools?
Thanks
Lisa

When you get here they check you ın gıve you labels wıth your room number on to put on your luggage and your bags are taken up to the room. We asked for an extra room key (card) and we paıd a deposıt of ten englısh pounds but ıt has been very handy. You are gıven paper wrıstbands wıth your room number on them and they gıve you the AI status and can be replaced free of charge from receptıon. We were not gıven a TOM bracelet and dıd not get one. İm goıng to post ın sectıons ın case the ınternet connectıon goes so İ wıll fınısh shortly.
Thanks Candy great review....did everyone there seem to be happy?
Thanks very much for your review, can i just ask what drinks were included, were cocktails and rum included?
de ja vue there emma we posted at exactly same time!!!!
Hı agaın. It ıs not cold ın the evenıngs and so far we have only had one small mossıe bıte. You are gıven two towels cards and you can get towels for use on the sunbeds from a place near the maın pool. They are only open certaın tımes through the day but ıt ıs convıent. Food has been good - such a range of dıshes. Tonıght we had lamb or chıken skewers or chıcken donner kebabs wrapped ın fresh turkısh pastry made rıght ın front of you. The temp has been very warm so do brıng enough suncream hats of the kıds etc bnut they do get a hat t-shırt juıce bottle and bag from the kıds club. You do not have to pre-book the kıds club just now you just turn up and ın they can go. If you have any other questıons then please PM me but bear ın mınd I may not log ın for another 2 days or so as ıt costs 10 TYL for an hour on the ınternet whıch ıs not too bad. Thıs ıs the best holıday I have ever had - warm sunshıne - shady spaces wıth loungers lots to drınk - great staff - and the kıd ıs happy. What else can you ask for. Do not worry you should love thıs holıday - İm just glad we have 12 days left. Best wıshes Olıvıa
what aircraft, if airbus, is it better than boeing as thats all I have ever flown, how long did the flight actually take? etc. and what were the movies like?
Hey don't worry aboiut the flight i am sure it will all go smoothly,i have been on boeing too and i can't really give you a difference,i do not know much about planes. We had an hour delay on the plane which was annoying as we all had to stay on the plane but apart from that everything went fine. The flight will be between 4hours and 4hours and 15mins ,the last hour usually goes quick as you're getting ready for landing!the films were cheaper by the dozen on the way but i can't remember what it was on the way back, they had a problem with the video player so they didnt end up playing one.If you're ok with looking out the window DO! we had amazing views on the way,we flew over the alps and its the best thing i have ever seen from a plane!we also flew over the greek islands,i found this kept me happy throughout the flight. The staff are really nice on the plane and if you have any q's just ask them and im sure they can help you out.i always a little nervous when i go on planes and i must have been on 15 or so but i am fine once being up in the aIR.OHHH one more tip,if you have triouble with ears popping take some mints of suckable sweets to suck taking off and landing. Also the landing was the smoothest i have ever had landing in Dalaman.Hope i helped!you'll be fine!
Can you tell me did they do the beach party? Are they still doing the free ice cream? Would you say the evening entertainment was enough to keep two 30 somethings and a 10 year old happy? Also did you use lira or euro?
The beach party they ran last year isnt running because of the turtles,i was really looking forward to it too!
As for the ice cream,i think you have to purchase a tom watch to be able to buy ice cream in the resort,we didnt do it but i think its abotu £50 which seems silly to me but i'd ask the reps about that when you get there cos i dont no all the details.
Well theres a show oon everynight,it usually starts off with a kids show and then goes on to cabaret etc,we didnt go to any of the shows but if you're looking for something to do at night you'll be fine. There should be lots too do for you're 10 yr old too, there is usually some sort of activity running until 11o'clock. The bar outside was quiet when we went but i think you'll find it getting busier. The bar inside was usually quite full and theres always people to talk too. There is also a disco which might be worth checking out.I dont think you'll have a problem having a good time its just not a big disco scene!! hehe
I took some english and some lira ,in the shops they accepted englidsh then gave it back to you in lira. Its fine using lira for everything but if you feel more comforatble using english cos you no what you getting you can use it in most places including the market in Sarigerme. When we went to Marmaris most items were priced in euros aswel as lira and sterling.
You'll be fine taking what ever but make sure you ave a bit of sterling or euro for the plane as they dont take lira.
and another bit of advice: Take a couple of large bottles of water as they are expensive in the airport and you can use them when youre in your room, just sill them up from the water foutains byu the bars.
GOODLUCK! have fun!!!
whether or not towels were available
Towels are available in the room,we had 2 hand towels,2 large towels and a towel for the floor and you will also be given a towel card each which you use to exchange for towels during the day to put on your sunbed.I took a spare one with me anyway and used that one to dry myself off after being in the pool so if you've got the space it wont hurt but if not you'll be well catered for.
hopei helped
HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY EVERYONE!! anyone got space for me in there suitcase?
xx
Can you give us an idea of what sort of entertainment is available for families in the evening?
We didnt go to any evening entertainment but there was a show everynight,i think there was cabaret and also i think there was panto.I also heard rumours of a hypnotist???There is also a cinema and 3 bars open.To find out what shows are available check out the spinning event calender situated straight through the front door at reception that told you everything that you could do or see on that day.I think the entertainment usually went on to abotu midight but it might have been later
Was the entertainment outside and was it really that cold in the evening?
Yes.All the shows were held ion the amphithetre outside and im sorry to say but it was cold at night,i found it was similar to home or possibly colder. Its mainly due to the wind as its so close to the sea so just take a jumper or a jacket and you should be fine at night. It was also probally warmer in the amphi thertre because theres alot of people:)
Could you see the building site from the pools?
From the pool with the slide you can see a dormant building but it doesnt take up alot of space and it is mainly out of the way.as for work going on,we heard a few hammering sounds on the first day so a few people took photos as they said we wouldnt be disturbed and we didnt see anymore for the rest fo the holiday. The site wont get in the way ,me and my boyfriend spent most days by the pool with the slides and you int notice it after a while.
what drinks were included, were cocktails and rum included?
The drinks included were:
red and white wine
Efes beer
raki
Mac alpine Whiskey
Istanblue vodka
congac
4 different liquers
i think there may have been a few others but Barcardi wasnt included.I didnt liek the whiskey mush but Efes is nice and i also found the vodka really nice when drinking with Fanta not orange.Cocktrails arfe not included but they do sella selection, the price is similar to home.
If you go to the main bar upstairs in the hotel please tell Chow and Sarhan (both male) that Candy and Ellis say Hey !
did you notice a kids play groud?
I dint notice one but i did notice a small kids pool with a very cool slide shaped like an elephant! i was tempted to have a go myself! There may well be a playground but we didnt see one
hope that helped everyone again
PLEASE TAKE ME BACK WITH YOU!! lol
