we were at tropical last two weeks in august and have booked to go back same two weeks next year, me, hubby and 3 kids we had a fantastic time and cant wait to return countdown starts in the new year!?! our only gripe was the mossies we did get lots of bites (kids not bad though) but bites did not get infected or anything nasty and soon went (you will need loads of mozzy stuff as little buggers were everywhere) food was not excellent but was perfectly edible and lots of it and im sure it will improve next year. pools fantastic as were kids clubs as i said a fab holiday and cant wait to go back. p.s it was very hot but plenty of shady areas etc to escape to if needed, anyone booked for 2006 - enjoy!

We are also going in August next year (7th - 21st), and are really looking forward to it, when are you going to be there?

Despite the negative comments on this forum, We are going with an open mind and believe that a holiday is what you make it, as long as the bar is open and there's plenty for the kids to do then that will do for us.

Never been to Turkey before, so really looking forward to trying a different country for our holiday.

hi keitha1065, as you have probably read we went in oct this year, we were very nervious about going after reading quite a few bad reports, we even concidered cancelling but when we got there we were so pleased we didnt! we had a fantastic time (despite the mozzies) and have booked again for the 24th july next year so we will be coming home as you arrive. hope you have a great time (i'm sure you will) any advice you need just ask

We went in July (family of 4). We spent around £400 in 2 weeks, so £200 should be fine for one person.
BUT it will depend what you want to do on holiday. Trips are around £20 pp ie mudbath, the AI cruise was £25 pp. the trip to Ephesus and pamukkale was £60pp. The speedboat trip was £10 pp.

Also if you like fake designer wear, you may want more money, to spend at the sunday market in Sarigerme, or there is another shopping trip to Fethiye.

If you want to drink branded drinks, you will have to pay for these.

It is difficult to know how much to tell you to take, as I dont know what you want from a holiday. Any more info please ask!!

it is difficult to advise someone on how much spending money to take, I went AI to the Dominican Republic a few years ago (without hubby and children yeahay!) and only spent £100 in a fortnight but when we were at the PP in September we spent £1000 (myself hubbie and 6 year old) which is what we usually spend on an non AI holiday, but we did buy lots of gameboy games, 6 year old had swimming lessons, husband and I bought loads of fake stuff so we were quite extravagant and the hotel shop is very expensive compared to the village, we did the same amount of trips as normal and ate out on days when the food was particularly bad, if you can stick within your budget you will be fine but as the place is so isolated I would suggest a minimum of two trips one each week otherwise you'll get to see nothing of the beauty that is Turkey

It is very diffiuclt to know how much to take. I do like my shopping so will probably spend quite a bit on that. Where do you get all the fake designer clothes then? Is it in Sarigerme? Is that better than Fethiye?

Sorry for all the questions. I suppose i could take more than i'm intending to spend 'just in case' - it's always better to have too much than not enough.

There is a Sunday market in Sarigerme, a 5 min taxi ride away. There was about 40 stalls in total, selling all the fake designer wear, jewellery, gameboy games etc.
Our friends went on the Fethiye trip, and bought pretty much the same stuff as was at the local market. Although this is a much bigger market. Couldnt stand to do that trip though in 50 degree heat. We were only at the Sunday market for about 1 hour and I had enough, it was soooooo hot, it is undercover so you are shaded, but very hot.
There are also shops in the hotels, a fake clothes shop, a leather shop, bags and belts etc, and a jewellers, but these are very expensive.

Thanks for your reply. I think i will just stick to the sunday market rather than the trip as it's meant to be a relaxing holiday for us and i don't want to be sweating it out shopping!

I think i will take £200 - £300 depending on how much i can save nearer the time. I think this will be plenty but still - i never know what i'm going to see!

while we were at the palace they had a market on the tuesday night, it was quite small at the palace but a much larger and cheaper one was near the pool at the tropical. it started at about 7.30 on the night and ran 'til around 11.30 and had most of the things -designer fakes, watches, turkish delight etc -that were at the local market on the sunday - although haggle hard to get a bargain.

We booked 6 months ago to go to the tropical in May and get married while there. We booked a jacuzzi suite for 4, to sleep us and our 2 children (9&5).

This morning we have received a letter from FC saying that they have had to change our booking. They have moved us to a jacuzzi suite at the palace instead as the letter states that the tropical jacuzzi suites are only suitable for 3.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the jacuzzi suites at the 2 hotels. When we booked we were told that there were only jacuzzi suites at the tropical. In your opinions, which of the 2 hotels would you say were preferable and which would you choose if you had to go again? Also, anyone any idea how far away from the tropical wedding gazebo the jacuzzi suites at the palace are?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hi andy&emma, we stayed at the tropical in oct and have booked again for july in the palace, the tropical was lovely and the only reason we are going to the palace is because the family rooms at the p/p have a sliding door separating the bed from the bed settee. we did visit the p/p on a few occasions and it did seem lovely. as far as i know the jacuzzi suites are in separate blocks to the main hotel with private swimming pools.
are they charging you any extra as i know that the palace is more expensive than the tropical.
the wedding gazzibo is only a few minutes ( five or six at the most) walk away from the jacuzzi suite blocks (thats if i'm right about them being the separate blocks! maybe someone else can confirm that.)
we saw a few wedding when we were their and they looked lovely.

We have also been moved to a larger jacuzzi suite at the palace.nothing extra to pay,making a saving of £200.Not bothered we went to palace july this year.Not sure where jacuzzi suites are situated can anbody help. :?:WE ARE GOING 27 JULY 2 adults 2 kids all exited already. had a fab time this year.Hope to do more next year.

the jacuzzi suites at the palace, are just behind the central island bar, behind the pool with the 3 or 4 round jacuzzis in it.

Or imagine you are sitting in the PP outside buffet restaurant looking out towards the pool. They are just to the right, directly next to the buffet restaurant. They have their own private pool at the back which I believe is adults only.

Hi Andy and Emma, You will likw e the Jacuzzie suites better at the PP as they are in a better location and are more prive than the PT Jacuzzie suites, and as for the wedding Gabizzo its fantastic we saw 2 weddings when we was their this year, we would love to go back if the food had have been better, anyway have a lovely wedding and good luck

Received the same letter -moved from Suite jacuzzi room at PT to the PP. So far sounds fine, but I wonder why they ask for a signed acceptance, since I'm sure they could argue this is a very minor change? Perhaps them just being safe to avoid future disagreements...

Also I'd thought the rooms were the same size, are there other differences, ie at the PP jacuzzi suites is there still a separate bedroom?

I'd like to guess that the reason you are all being moved is that the dutch company in there at the tropical as well, has taken up a bigger allocation and therefore FC are just going to use the PP jacuzzi suites instead.

We went to PP in July 05 and had a catalog of problems. Nothing massively serious but we got £136 back as we complained that customers going to the Tropical had this offered to them. They initially offered us First Choice vouchers, but as I had already booked a holiday this was no good to me. I had no problems getting cash instead and their complaints procedure seemed well oiled, prob as they'd had so many from the hotel residents!

There was me, my wife and 2 year old daughter and we personally would not go back there as it is out of the way, expensive for non inclusive drinks, the so called al a carte restaurants are prety crummy to be honest with most of the food found in the buffet anyway. In addition the drinks offered were a very poor selection, and the beer was just awful, though that maybe just my personal taste I reckon.

In summation, it may be fine for families with older kids, but with a small child it is a bit of a pain. The tweety creche is excellent but the problem is at night. The entertainment is set up for older children and the auditorium is very dark, so you can never relax as you cant see the little ones if you take your eyes off them for a minute. Oh and as others have said you get biten to death too! We made friends with other people with older kids and they thought it was good there, so maybe it all depends on how lod the kids are.

I am going back to booking a private apartment and cheap flights and making my own fun. It's a lot cheaper than the packages and the quality of accomodation is usually excellent. At least when I see a picture from the balcony of a sea view I know it wont be cancelled!
