Swampie,

Its my guess having been, that the fence they put up will only be around the pool areas and that they will probably leave the grounds alone. Otherwise, you would just be able to access the site from the beach and it would be an awfully large area to fence off. Can also see them draining the pool to put off any would be users of the Tropical slides whilst it's closed also. What a shame for all you May/June/July bookers, I genuinely do feel really sorry that you have been messed about by FC and that they just couldn't take an overview of your reactions and keep the whole place open.

Hi Barnio

Having also been that was where i thought they would section it off but we have been told that you will not be able to access the spa garden as this will be closed off. I know what you are saying as this will involve an awful lot of fencing to keep it sectioned off especially from the beach side also.

By the time they have paid for all that fencing they would probably have found it cheaper to open both hotels!

Swampie,

OMG, it gets worse, this is truly unbelievable, the area that they are fencing off is huge AND will probably now include the three quieter pools located in the centre between the two sites that were suppsed to be for the use of people staying in the tropical jacuzzi suites. Correct me if i'm wrong swampie but it was you who was told not to worry because it is not your hotel. If it is then how do they explain the models in the glass case at reception showing the Pegasus village as one.

Hi _ I am going to the palace in May, should have been the tropical but in January was told the room couldn't fit family of 4, but they upgraded the room to a jacuzzi suite. After reading the forum here yesterday I got straight onto the phone to FC and asked what was going on. They in the shop knew nothing. After various calls later, they confirmed that the tropical would be closed and that ALL facilities at the tropical would also be closed. I have now since e-mailed Watchdog, Trading Standards and ABTA - so just waiting. I have also e-mailed customer services at FC for more information. But I'm now even more confused - FC where I booked my holiday have just rang again and now saying that ALL the facility at the tropical WILL be open, and only the hotel will be closed??? Anyone else heard different - what is confusing - FC have offered me a full refund on this holiday or to transfer to another holiday - why are they doing this - if everything is still as in the brochure!!!!!!??????!!!!!!!

Hi Topsey, perhaps FC have been reading this forum and have taken into consideration all the other complaints. If what you are saying is correct, believe it when seen though, that is really good news for all the people going out early season. Fingers crossed.

I really hope it is just the hotel itself that will be closed. It makes sence to leave the facilities open. Its not fair!

It makes you wonder if first choice do read this site?

OMG Wouldn't that be so fab, just think of all those pools to ourselves!!!!!!

I don't want to get my hopes up, oh well lets wait until more of us get phone calls or emails before we get our hopes up! After all it wouldn't be the first choice that first choice shops have said something different from their head office would it?

Here's hoping :D

What you are being told about the rooms not big enough for a family of four is baloni! Now cant believe that they moved people back in January and i found out last weekend that we had been moved! :x

Unfortunately the hotel does not open until the 1st May!

IMO it would be almost impossible to have all the facilities open and not the actual hotel otherwise you will have people wandering all around and that would not be practicable for health and safety.

Barnio

Two of the smaller quieter pools are on the Palace side so they will almost certainly be open as some of the palace rooms back onto these. The other one opposite the spa gardens will have to be closed as it leads to rooms in the Tropical and as i say it is right opposite the spa gardens also!

Eclipse have told us our information after going away and checking!

As i have said previously we were offered our money back or a transfer to another hotel. We got the one in Lanzarote priced and it was and extra £500 but eclipse did offer to pay half. When we asked if we could have that off the holiday we had already booked we were told they cant do that otherwise they would have to do it for everyone.

The main things I will miss will be the swimming pools, slides and spa garden. Has anyone had their email responded to yet? Something in writting would be good!

 we recieved a letter today telling us that our flight from Stansted was cancelled and we have to fly from Gatwick. If thats not bad in the small print at the bottom it says and i quote" the Tropical will open from 17 july 2006. All customers who were due to stay at the Pegasos Tropical will now be allocated into the Palace.

I read these posts about Tropical being closed when we go in June, today contacted Trading Standards and they have said to write to FC and copy to ABTA. Trading standards have given us a report number too.
We booked our holiday back in May 2005 and it was sold to us using the facilities of both hotels?

Also back in December I noticed on FC website that there was no flight out of Gatwick on a Saturday at 14.15pm which was what we had booked, called FC to be told we had been moved to a 07.00am flight ? Again nothing in writing from FC to notify us of this change.

  I am off to 1st choice tomorrow with partner in toe (who is not a happy chappy) we have also been offered free hotel accomodation in Gatwick as our flight was changed hopefully we will find out exactly what is going to be closed and also find out what we are going to get for our money full price paid (half a village open)

to prettyinpink we stayed at the palace and the sahara beach last year within 8 weeks of each other (sept and nov) the food is much better at the palace the gardens and pools, even if the tropical is closed are far superior to the sahara beach, although the beach in tunisia is better and cleaner than the palace beach.

we walked to sarigerme quite a few times took us about 15 minutes, and sarigerme is a quaint village with shops and a market on sunday.

Sousse is a god forsaken place that once visited is not a place you would go back to, unless you like mixing with thieves con men beggars short changing crooked shopkeepers, small ,(and i mean small) children constantly harrasing you for money. it is a country mile away from the sahara, we tried waking it, after about an hour we finished the journey on a bus.

if anything though, the palace,in spite of sarigerme being close, is far more isolated than the sahara, although i think the sahara is more dangerous, the only reason you wouldnt get mugged outside the palace is that even the locals wouldnt go there at night.

personally if i had kids i would go back to the pegasus, but they havnt made enough wild horses that would get me within spitting distance of that awful hotel in tunisia
