yes ours is coming up £200 cheaper too! when our friends decided to come with us they went to book just after xmas there were no free child places but now there is, hows that work then?

Probably because they are struggling so much to fill the one hotel that is going to be open.

In the same breath, newbies arriving to ht may be quickly put off by the preceeding 73 pages! I think it might be a good idea to start new 06 topic and say at the start that theres a previous topic, with a link to it.

I may be in the minority though lol!

What I have a real problem with regarding the Palace is all down to FC. The place itself is very impressive although a little isolated. After last years problems, certainly early in the season you would have thought that FC would be on a serious charm offensive for this year. BUT what do they go and do, move peoples bookings without explanation (unless you ask) shut down one half of the complex (the one with the best slides imo) until at least mid July and think that by offering a few quid in return that everything will be ok.

Well at the end of the day, HV centres are in the main family orientated. I would have been thoroughly miffed (would have liked to swear) if last year I had turned up to find one half closed after showing my kids the place in the brochure and the net. I just wonder how many uninformed guests ie: ones that don't look at sites such as HT will just turn up in May, June and early July to be told by FC reps that "we have a slight problem but hey!! don't worry, it won't affect your holiday"

I know that some people have been put off by the bird flu scare but I wonder how many people have also been put off by last years media reports and looking at other net based holiday review sites. Hence my point about a charm offensive. Surely a company the size of FC would be able to take a hit for 10 yes only 10 weeks and re open the whole place. If I were in the chair at FC, I would have serious reservations about my PR department thats for sure.

Well said barnio

FC's attitude was the biggest gripe of mine last year, not that we were overly impressed with the complex but that's because the holiday was mis-sold to us by FC

We booked our holiday in June 2004 from the 1st edition brochure...PT wasn't even mentioned in that edition... after having used FC many times before we trusted what they said (or rather what the TA assistants told us)

It wasn't untill I was searching the net and came across this site that i started to find things out...

We were sold a holiday in a new build complex with 500 rooms!!!...this turned out to be 1000 rooms in EACH hotel... we would never NEVER have booked a holiday in a complex this big, we were seriously concerned at 500 rooms but thought we would give it a go!!

We were not informed that it was a ALL BRITISH complex (again not what we would have booked if we had known)

When we asked about the PT we were told not to worry about it as it was a separate hotel next door with it's own facilties and "we wouldn't even know it was there"

We were told it was set on it's own "entensive Sandy Beach" HA HA HA

I think the only thing they did get right was the transfer times to/from the airport...these were pretty much spot on.

I must add though that the rooms were the best we have stayed in (hope they have the air conditioning sorted this year) and the Pools were pretty impressive...though I am not sure this warrants the amount i paid for my holiday last year!!!

Really disappointed - have just been on to FC and yes the Tropical is closed until July and you can not use any of the facilities there. FC knew this after selling the holiday as two hotels together with the use of both facilites. They are not willing to do anything about it as "It's not your hotel". :rage

I don't think you'll find there is...

From what i could make out all the rooms are the same as in a main bedroom area with a sliding door seperating a another area which has the balcolny door in...

Some of these rooms had a double bed and some had 2 singles...they all seemed to have a double sofa bed in the 'sitting area' where the T.V and the fridge was and if you needed a '5 bed' room then there was also a single chair/sofa bed in this area as well (which some said blocked the access to the balcolny door)

Kids Dens where the same as above but with the exception of have Bunk Beds in the 'sitting area' which was also decorated in 'Loony Tunes' theme and also had a bean bag and co=ordinated bedding...we didn't have one of these but i can remember someone posting about them last year (maybe they will read this and post again)

Also the playstations (last year...might be different this year!!) you had to request them from reception and pay a £150 deposit on them and you only got 1 controller...

Hope this helps for now, maybe someone will be along soon who will be able to say for definate what they are like

This is one long topic with lots of people going around in circles for nearly 2 years now talking about the same problems

I don't look in here very often maybe once a month but every time I do it seems to be the same questions or the same gripes and besides the obvious answer of why book a place and then afterwards start looking for answers to questions which should have been asked before booking I can offer some other obvious advice.

1, People complain that the beach is full of rubble and shelves too quickly well easy book a place with a decent and safe beach for your children.

2, Too many people in the place and all English well there you go why book a place with hundreds of rooms and was only sold in the UK.

3, Food is rubbish well that is all inclusive for you.

4, The place is very remote well of course it is as it was built on swamp land and nobody else wanted the land.

5, The trips are expensive well that is down to lack of competition as it being so remote.

6,Playstations are £150 deposit hahahaha I have never heard of such rubbish so take your own but if the place has to rent out playstations to keep kids occupied I would definitely be worried that my kids were going to be bored.

7, The place is only a short drive from the airport well from what I have read this is the thing that people like best about the place.

I thought I would post these things to help people decide about this place if they have the sense to look in here before booking

Maybe this could be put up as a sticky lolol

Hi.

We go on May 15th as well. Just phoned FC about what I had been reading on here and the lady I spoke to confirmed that the Tropical will be closed til July. She said that the Wavelength club and the football pitch will be moved to the Palace - how are they going to move a football pitch?

I asked why we had not been informed that the Tropical would not be open and she said that as we are staying at the Palace we will not be affected by it!!! How can they say that when at the time of booking we were free to use the facilities for both hotels and therefore had twice the amount of facilities that we now have!

My 10 year old daughter has been looking forward to the Tropical slides ever since she first saw them on here last year and now we'll all be able to see them but can't go on them.

Initially we were booked to get married at the Tropical. It got cancelled by FC holiday hypermarket and looking at all this now, I think it's a good job. I'm stressing enough over the holiday!!!

Anyone else been in touch with FC since? If so what did they get told?

John Thanks for your observations now heres mine! The topic has not been going for nearly 2 years as the hotel has not even been open for 1 yet!

I think you will find that the current complaints if you took the time to read them are because 1 half of the complex that people are booked into is now not going to be open because of a lack of bookings. So what has happened is people have been moved to the other one.

I went to this hotel last September and had a fantastic time so much so that we rebooked again to go this May a couple of weeks after we returned. Obviously there were problems when the place opened but imo lots of these things had been sorted out by the time we got there.

I have the SENSE as you so put it to look in here before i book up and i would say you are trying to insult peoples intelligence by posting this in a thread that you have no first hand experience of.

The post by Katys Clan that commented on the £150 for the playstation was not a critisism it was actually in a reply to my question about the kids dens and i find that quite helpful to know such a thing so it does not come as a shock if it is still the same.

Once again i would thank you for what you probably thought was going to be a helpful post but i personally think you should only comment if you have the first hand knowledge to do so otherwise someone picking up on this thread could misconstrue you comments as fact!

Thanks 8)

1, People complain that the beach is full of rubble and shelves too quickly well easy book a place with a decent and safe beach for your children.

The brochure stated 'set on a Vast Sandy Beach'... could people be forgiven to think that it is a correct statement ? Or do you have special powers that can see beyond what the brochure says and therefore know different ??? Cos I know I don't

2, Too many people in the place and all English well there you go why book a place with hundreds of rooms and was only sold in the UK.

If you had read my previous post you will have seen that this was not told to us by the TA when we booked...we were told 500 rooms, that turned into 2000 by the time we got there !!! And we were not told it was only being sold to the UK

3, Food is rubbish well that is all inclusive for you.

RUBBISH...we have been to 6 inclusives now and this was by far the worst... we have had some excellent meals in the past...but again if you had read previous posts you would see that the main gripe was not about the 'rubbish' food but more about the fact that it was cold most of the time!!!

4, The place is very remote well of course it is as it was built on swamp land and nobody else wanted the land.

Can't recall seeing anywhere OR being told by TA that this Hotel was built on a swamp in the middle of no-where...AGAIN maybe you have powers that can see beyond the brochure

6,Playstations are £150 deposit hahahaha I have never heard of such rubbish so take your own but if the place has to rent out playstations to keep kids occupied I would definitely be worried that my kids were going to be bored.

Rubbish is it? well I never actually rented one but i am sure there are many out there who did and can tell you that this is certainly not 'rubbish'

I thought I would post these things to help people decide about this place if they have the sense to look in here before booking
Where did we all have to look before we booked last year? NO-ONE had been before the majority of us booked...and what about those people that do not have internet access???

If nothing else your post did make me smile... thinking about all the TA out there being honest for a change and saying how it actually is for once...I DON'T THINK SO

Nice one and the response I knew I would get

Its been getting a bit stale one here and also slow lately so yes I did some good.

Btw Swampie this topic has been on Holidaytruths since 2004 and well before the hotel was even built and started with the same questions as are being asked today and that is why I suggested that maybe that there should be a sticky in this thread of all the usual questions asked (sorry Nette lol )so to save people NOT looking and asking the same questions over and over again hence my statement about going around in circles.

Btw It is very rare for me to throw a smilie in a post I make so I did think that most people reading would realise that my post was a bit tongue in cheek

Can anyone who has been the this hotel previously advise if the Tropical being shut will affect our holiday? I have heard people mention the slides are better at the tropical but then someone else has just said there is only two.

How can they say that people are not going to Turkey. I know of two families who are looking to go in May but cant as its fully booked!

I do think its wrong that they have not advised us as we are staying in the palace. I am hold to them now and have been for the last 20 mins. The longer I hold the more annoyed I am getting. Ill let you know what they say.

Can not belive my eyes

Havn't been on this site for over a week now, last time I was here was goin on about how pleased I was that we had been moved from PT to PP, due to "ROOM OCUPANCY" , cannot belive that FC has well and truly conned us, are they allowed to do this, other members travelling as a party of four were confused why they hadn't been moved, now we know why, the hotel being closed would not bother me if this not did affect the facilties, but this doesn't sound the case will be paying a visit to my Travel Agent tomorrow in person

we went in september and stayed at the palace, the closure of the tropical would definately have affected us, ( just me and my wife.....no kids). the daytime is ok and the slides seem to me to be as good at the palace as at the tropical, although i,m not an expert on how good water slides are.

however the main reason was the evening with nowhere to go outside the complex your restricted to the "entertainment" inside. we always went to the beach bar on the tropical side, there was singers,a quiz karaoke etc, on the palace side you had the resident duo,who were excellent the few times we saw them. after that you had the dubious entertainment in the amphitheatres which we dropped into now and again, which seemed to consist of poor performances of grease and party games with simulated sex using ballooons and plastic bottles which were squeezed so the contents spurted out on to the unfortunate victim, recordings were made of these games which when broadcast at the end gave the impression of what the contestents did on there wedding night.
it was sordid crude and totally unsuitable for a family audience, and this is from a couple who have seen sticky vicki in benidorm and enjoyed it because there were no kids there.

for that reason alone you wont see us in the pegesus anytime soon, but if you have kids then the fact that the tropical is shut wont , in my opinion, spoil your holiday at all, just take something to do at night....i saw more people playing cards on that holiday then i have ever seen before, we just thank god for the tropical beach bar

just an addition to my previous post, the plastic bottles mentioned were placed between the legs of the female contestents, who the colsed their legs together to squirt the contents of the bottles over their partners.....classic comedy moments only at the pegasus palace
