Im bl**dy freezing Lynne . . Are you back or just about to go .
Its funny the whole time we were there one part of your review kept coming back to me when you said "we had a great time but didnt love it there ". similar for us really but the people we met and what was available evened up the scales
Hi - Came back yesterday
i think the thing is if you have been to an excellent all inc especially with wonderful food then you cant help but compare it, in my opinion the ADR wasnt a patch on lykia or letoonia for food choice or quality and 1 of the big problems for us was the lack of kids meals in the evening, having a fussy daughter, we didnt have plain food for the kids in the evening until we complained 3 times along with other guests, you expect a hotel of this star rating to cater for all tastes especially young kids, there was no desserts she would eat except a bit of melon, no simple plain things like ice cream or, rice puddings etc for the kids ,just turkish desserts and cakes that no matter what colour all tasted the same lol. did you get any beef or steak we didnt, turkey every blooming day lol, i said to my hubby i know we have come to turkey but expect to live on it lol
yes we had steak one night at the BBQ that was actually very tasty and the fish was excellent although I believe they only had it on the fish night from the BBQ. Most other evenings admitidly it was grilled turkey but very nice grilled turkey ,oh and turkish night they had a donor Kebab. there was quite a wide choice of sweets , gateux type , sickly turkish ones and a couple of the chocolate/rice pudding types in bowls.. nice ice cream outside where you could have a cone or take out a bowl and have a bit of everything . Lemon was my favourite.
well all i can say is that you got better food than we did by the sounds of it. we didnt get any steak or beef ,just some veal in greasy sauce and lamb full of bones, fish was available but none of us are fish eaters !! no kids meals at all for the first 5 days until a few of us complained and then they put on only 4 items on for the kids 6.30-8 pm, but no kids desserts. my daughter would have been so happy with ice cream, but not 1 night did we get ice cream, i bet you didnt get cereals for desserts either , just pleased it improved for you.
Yep saw the veal and the bony lamb . Didnt fancy that myself .its a shame because there appears to be extra available over the high season.
we always have a good holiday in akyaka cant wait.
where are you thinking of going next, still interested in istanbul, im also looking at madeira for dec
we have already booked the Hemera for next August karen .So another part of Turkey to try and back to Egypt at Easter. would love to go to Istanbul, hubby not keen but I will still investigate it as a short break option.
oh silly me i forgot that you had booked hemera that has good reviews, we have been to side many years ago. my oldest daughter is going to egypt next mth all inc for a week. we havent got anything sorted, but think we will just stick to akyaka to save some money lol and its lovely too
Yes they did their diving karen. We sorted it out before we went for a better price but the guy on the beach is an agent for the same company. Aquanaut diving and run by an english couple. hubby said they were very good.
Ive just added some photos to the gallery .If Ive done it correctly there should be 10 . At the moment they are in the upload Album.
Great photos Lyn, brought back fab memories! wish we were back there.
What I didnt get round to taking were some shots from the fabulous view higher up in the starlight bar. now that was a view did you get any on your camera ??
I think I said somewhere before that it is a very different type of coast and view than Olu Deniz but still as stunning with the extra bonus of a fabulous sunset.
Great photos Lyn!
HI, just 'bumped' this thread for the person who has been 'bounced out of La Blanche'
Will they fill thermal mugs with drinks at the bars or do they insist on using their own plastic cups ???
It's only the pool bar and beach bar that use plastic.
thanks very much - we'll pack ours then !!!
I know that other posters have suggested that food etc is better at peak time in the summer - it certainly wasn't moreish when we went in October!!
Also the centralised air con had been turned off even tho' it was very hot in the rooms at night - everyone tried to get it back on but the hotel were having none of it.
