Re above, got the ones from Aldi, no deet so will these be as good.
Can anybody tell me if male guests are expected to wear long trousers for the evening meal?
my hubby went into the restaurants in cropped trs without any problems as it was too hot for long trs
Thanks for the info ellie_meg!
Just retunrned from ADR last night. Hotel, location, food and and entertainment all fantastic. Will post full review later when got through the washing mountain!!! Met Lynwestie and family out there had great fun with them.
Great to hear you had a lovely holiday Rosie.
sounds like it has improved since i was there, which is good
Everyones opinion is different - we were there at the same time and I absolutly loved it and could not fault anything. Still trying to book for next year !!
collette you are right everyones opinions are different but you obviously didnt have the problems we had, having what i can only describe as a paedophile chase my daughter and her friends trying to grab them and take photos, tummy upsets for 3-4 days, swimsuit ruined from the grime in the slide pool, daughter cutting her leg badly on the metal strip in the bar, not to mention the food problems and the list goes on and on but im not mentioning everything and some worse,we are seeking legal advise, so please lets not start this again !!! you had a good holiday then thats great for you ,we didnt simple as that, it was ok, but im sure if you had encountered all these problems you might have felt different !!!!!!
I must say that the rating in the hotel reviews and what has been posted in this thread do not match, which seems surprising. Looking further into it I realised that people only write 1 review per holiday but it seems some people make more posts than others and this may give a different leaning. I am not knocking anybody as we have been places where we have loved it and some people there hated it. I have also read reviews where people have said places are outstanding and we thought they were only average. One thing that seemed to stand out were the food options for kids, but as we are not taking kids it has no bearing to us, but still it is justified. We would prefer to hear the truth whether good or bad
I have found though, that sometimes it may only seem a small thing to some people but can spoil a holiday, for example, we stayed at the Marti Hotel in Icmeler, and in the fortnight we were there they had 5 events for people outside the hotel, 2 of which were weddings. They expected holidaymakers to clear the pool area earlier and the amount of waiters to cater for the holidaymakers was reduced dramatically so the service suffered. That spoiled for us what was otherwise a great holiday.
So in conclusion We decided to book ADR and have been pleased with the reports from the people recently returning.
Will let you know how it goes.
Never got a spot at the pool. People had their towles out there at 6.30am which is pathetic and sad I think. We lay over at the beds at the beach, more peaceful there and still close by to one of the restaurants to get drinks and eat etc.
I appreciate if you have a bad experience tho it does put you off.
We've had a brilliant holiday. A big hello to Celine and her lovely family , we missed you when you went home . obviously will do a full review some time later but briefly our cheapy Onur flights both ways were very good and on time both ways despite the normal package airlines having delays . propercar waiting for us at the airport . excellent service . Given 2 lovely seaview rooms in the annex as requested . fantastic views and another beautiful stretch of turkish coastline if in a very different way to the Olu deniz area which we are used to. what made this holiday for us was the people we met , especially rosieluvshols. Really funny as our teenagers made friends within a couple of days and rosie guessed who they were immediately . stunning location . We have never stayed at a hotel with the sea as close as it is here. Lovely constant breeze which was very welcome and you can always hear the constant lapping of the waves. We had no complaints about the food . we,ve had better but again we,ve had worse. constant activities all day and watersports included .
I know you can all hear a "but" coming and you are probably right . Having been to turkey many times there was something missing . where were the cheapy chappy, bouncy and mischievious turks that we have grown to love ???. they wernt there . most were just doing their job and the animation team although very good especially scottish stevie and the bouncy morrocan guy who wore the bandana ,with the exception of a couple were multi national , most of the female team were russian who just dont have the same sense of humour .I know with a hotel with such a vast array of nationalities staying there (Id say 50% english the rest dutch, belgium, polish russian and just about everywhere else) the language barrier may be an issue but these hotels really dont need to look any further than their own doorstep for entertainment staff . Its the turks we love and why we return each year. The only real turkish funny character was Jack the boat trip guy .
All in all we have had a brilliant time ,met some lovely people , had some great laughs , had a good day at the market with rosie but the turkishness felt a little flat . full review later

Must admitt I am still tempted by this hotel when I see it in the brochures. Was it comparable to the Belcekic Beach ?
In terms of facilities and things to keep you busy theres much more at the Aegean Dream and we did meet and talk to loads more people. The first 4/5 days we coulnt help comparing it to the BB but it grew on us as we relaxed more. There wasnt the same bouncy turkish staff and atmosphere there which is what makes the BB so special but it was much larger and I think that gets lost in the larger hotels with more nationalities. No the food wasnt as good or varied but we always found something to enjoy .
The 2 jetties were truely lovely and we really would of liked to have spent more time lying there during the day just listening to the sea but of course the children didnt want too .
Ive just done my review . Havnt moved from here since got up at 7am but forget to mention the Turkish resturant which we really enjoyed .great sevice and lovely atmosphere and food.

Although I have been posting endlessly in the thread and boring regulars & visitors to death. Lykia is so big that some of them were there when we were but we didn't realise it. Started to miss the place a lot after about a week, even though I felt a bit jippy.
HOw were the rooms in the AGR compared to the BB. Would you recommend the annex rooms. I dont think I can cope with another family room for 4, but did they have those there ? I think 6 or 7 lire for a beer was a bit dearer than Olu, more like 5 lire there unless you were in the Buzz bar etc.
the rooms were very nice and from what I was told better in the annex . lighter and brighter than the BB but about the same size maybe slightly bigger.. Didnt go into any in the main buillding but I know there were rooms for 4 but not sure where. heard differing reports about rooms in the main building from dark and dated to lovely so maybe they differ . The one thing I was told was that in the main building the air c o n was going off in the middle of the night and replaced with a normal fan. No really exceptable for 5*. and again rooms could of differed. No problems with ours in the annex . So unbelievably close to the sea and it was actually lovely to open your patio door early in the morning and just listen to the sounds of the waves.

Think I am going mad. Cant find your review although there are a few others for this year which are good. Gonna look again its probably just me.
I think it goes for approval first chris
chris im glad you had a good time and from you review the food choices sounded better than when we were there, there was never ice cream in the evenings and i asked quite a few times for this for the kids, there just wasnt anything suitable for ellie to eat, a few evenings they even put on a table of cereals for desserts as well as a some turkish desserts but who wants cornflakes for evening pudding !!! maybe the earlier complaints have worked.
i agree with you re the room views, the hotel was in an excellent position. would you go back again, we certainly wouldnt we had too many problems !!!
We would go back but the desire to return is not as strong as that of the BB where we would go back to like a shot were it not that there are other places we want to try.
Are you as cold as I am ??
Just read your review and I think we had much the same opinion - it really does seem to go up a gear in high season
