I guess it all depends what you want out of your holiday. Food was never a high priority for me as long as the area was clean (it was immaculate - if anything the downside was that your plate was cleared if you looked the other way !!) and the food was edible which it was. What I will say is that I put 9 lb on in two weeks - so it couldn't have been all bad !!
Food is a priorty if you have paid for a good AI.
If you have paid peanuts for one (like a last minute break & got it for the same as flight & accomodation, then all that matters is the place is clean).
The bit about the plate being cleared if you looked away from it is not a sign of cleanlyness but bad training on the part of the waiting staff.
I would look for more than the food being "edible" to consider it a fitting part of my holiday.
I did enjoy the ADR last year, but in light of what I have heard I would not go back unless it improved.
I did think last year the waiting staff could have done with more training, but thats a small point.
