thanks terry you have you have made me feel so much better .
but why are they using the station to check in does anyone know?
You may be lucky. Don't panic. I just do not think your holiday and getting there and back should really be down to luck.
The only reason why they use this station is because of the volume of people that check in for the flights. The main passenger terminal cannot cope with it this year. The Travel city jumbo holds 530 passengers alone so if there are 2 Air Atlanta flights checking in at the same time thats nearly a thousand people at the same time. Last year Air Atlanta/Travel City checked in at the ground level near My Travel but they can't this year as a new Airline now checks in there called Jet2.com so there isn't the space. Can anyone else suggest where they go then?
we fly with air atlanta on monday25th flight no euk438 can you give us any info on what type of plane it will be also what are air atlanta like thats if you know that is.
many thanks paul
Where are you flying to? All of Air Atlanta flights are usually on a Boeing 747 jumbo. They are fine to fly with very similar to most other charter airlines. The only difference is that the jumbos are older than some of the newer airbuses and other boeing aircraft but the fact you are on a jumbo makes up for it as it is more spacious. The in flight entertainment (videos) aren't as good as they have one big screen at the from of each bulk head and the picture quality is poor, that can let it down but personally it wouldn't bother me. Their in-flight catering is usually better than most other charter airlines , particually on the Sanford routes. Their on-time departures can sometimes let them down a bit too (delays).
Generally they're as good as all the other airlines.
we are flying to dalaman
Hardly the same as the other charters and definitely not 'fine' to fly with if you generally expect to get there at a reasonable time.

A lady that was on my return flight went over on AA. She said it was appalling, they never got any food, no tv to watch as no screen, and the toilet door hinges had broken off, and none of the staff were English and couldnt speak it either. She was meant to be travelling with Thomson(Thomson fly), but the outward bound broke down, so when this happens, enter Air Atlanta.
If Air Atlanta are sub-chartered to provide an aircraft for another airline they do not provide entertainment or food unless the airline wants them to. I can't see how none of the crew could speak english as crews on AA are either american or british. Only the pilots are Icelandic.
Most of Air Atlanta's flights have been on time this year
Find that impossible to believe. They don't know what on time is and why should anyone want to get on a plane that is 'a bit grotty'?
Probably more complaints this year than last if you look at the travel boards.

I work for a major travel company in the UK and the amount of customers i have spoken to that have flow with AAE and have been delayed is shocking, from what ive been told they have had quite a few delays inc some for over 24 hours.
am hoping as its the first flight on a new schedule everything will be fine but you never know
Some lovely queues at Gatwick this morning for Air Atlanta flights (or possibly flight - singular). The queue went half way around the south terminal. Must have been at least an hour+ from one end to the check-in desks. Looked amazing compared with all the other airlines who seemed to have much shorter queues. Air Atlanta had five check-in desks open but someone there told me that the handling agent (Servisair) only opens the long haul Air Atlanta flight check-in desk 3 hours before departure whereas Monarch and Virgin open much earlier and therefore queues don't build up so much.

JessFM wish you hadn't told me now

PS. I changed from Air Scandic to this and now it looks no better
It seems that the two Air Atlanta flights due out of Manchester to Sanford Friday are still at Manchester and its now Saturday. Story is that a baggage vehicle collided with one and the other went faulty.
Can see we are going to have a great start to the Holiday if it's the same next week.

Edited to remove capture.
I've posted full details of this in the compaints forum, under Excel.
I'm starting to compile a lot of information about these three companies and the way they operate, often it appears to the detriment of the fare paying passenger.
I'd welcome any feedback from other disgruntled passengers who have fallen foul of this trio of rogues. I have lodged a written complaint with Excel and I'm about to do same with TCD. I'm not hopeful that I'll receive satisfactory recompense but I'm very hopeful that I'll be able to compile sufficient real and anecdotal evidence to launch a small claims action with the intention of forcing disclosure of evidence from the companies.
There seems to be many instances of half truths and possibly even outright lies being offered as to the reasons for delay.
Look forward to more posts of these companies
Mike::: seems like you are having the same trouble as Air Scandic passengers, some organization must clampdown on their utter contempt for passengers.... guess what??? i'm due to travel to Turkey with Atlanta in Sept. so i may be joining you in a letter or two when i get back the more people that complain and seek compensation the better but being supplied with HONEST info. from them would go a long way to making things more acceptable... good luck:::: WAKI
Having read all the comments regarding Air Atlanta/Travel City Direct etc, I can honestly say, having flown to Orlando Sanford with AAE 4 times in the past 2 years that they offer a very good service for the price you pay. I understand if you are booked with Virgin Atlantic at a heftier cost , you would expect better service but, as with all airlines, you get what you pay for or not ,as the case maybe. As for Travel City direct, I always book my flights and car online and have done for 3 years and have never experienced any problems. Maybe Im just one of the lucky few. I have flown with top scheduled airlines and cannot see any difference in the service, especially American carriers. So, as I say, you really do get what you pay for. best wishes to all
I am thinking about booking to go to Orlando with Travel City Direct next April as they have the cheapest prices. It would be the Thursday flight out from Gatwick. Does anyone know which airline it would be? Would it be the TCD branded airplane or Air Atlanta Europe? And would it be a 747-200 or 300 series? I'm not too confident on flying on the 200 series as I have heard bad things about the state of the maintenance of the plane.
