Just to clarify: Air Scotland is in fact the trading name of Greece Airways. Cabin crew recruited Scottish - and they do have Greek pilots as well. All passengers will notice that if they look at the registration of the aircraft it starts SX-...which is the prefix for Greecce.

I'm intrigued Nivsy at your wealth of knowledge on aircraft. I've been reading a lot of your posts and find them very interesting. Dare I ask how you know all this?

More problems for Air Scotland passengers today, after the airline had its only aircraft impounded at Glasgow Airport in a dispute over unpaid fuel bills. Air Scotland's founder has also announced that he is selling his share in the airline to his Spanish business partners. Click here for more......

I'd like to know this too. I should be heading off to bed, ready for a 6am departure to Athens tomorrow morning. Now it looks like we're going at 6pm, that's if we go at all.

Air Scotland told me to phone after 5pm tonight but they weren't answering any calls. I had to call BAA Glasgow who put me on to Servisair, who told me the flight is delayed 12 hours.

I am utterly disgusted at the lack of communication from this company. Can only hope that we actually get to Athens at all.

If we don't make it, we will still have to pay full price for the hotel and lose the flight money. My holiday insurance doesn't cover me for this apparently (I phoned to find out). Terrific!

Hi allybee .... delays of up 17 hours were reported yesterday, after the aircraft was apparently impounded yet again - this time in Spain. The knock on effect of several such incidents at various airports is now horrendous. But do stay in touch with the airport, just in case of any developments at short notice. I hope that you do get away without too much of a delay.

Had to happen sooner or later with only one plane . They have'nt a cats chance in hell of catching up with the backlog in a week . Yesterdays Edinburgh/Malaga arrived in Spain this morning at 0820 , only about 14 hours late . And they had inserted an extra Glasgow/Malaga Sunday overnight otherwise the plane could have regiained about half the delays .

We have flights booked for saturday Glasgow to Alicante. Do you think they are about to go bust??? Surprisingly cant get any reply from customer services!!

Lesley , if you wnt my frank opinion I think no .......but the adverse publicity is bound to affect bookings . I think a bank would have pulled the plug by now , I think you are OK but I could be wrong . I think they will go bust but not justnow . Their aircraft is due to be taken out of service in November " for annual maintenance " , they might not return . My advice , if you can afford it , find another carrier , Globespan are quite reliable , or one of the big tour operators .

Looking at the Air Scotland website just now, I can see that the contact number which I quoted last night and which they are still quoting this morning, is in fact their fax number. Perhaps they are now using that number to deal with telephone enquiries related to flight reconfirmations. However, there is another number listed on their website for Customer Services (and all other departments), which is 0141 222 2363. There is also an e-mail address listed for Customer Services, which is cs@Air-Scotland.com

when you got through did they give any expanation for delays and non payment of fuel bill?? I agree it isnt looking too good, when do you fly?
Reply
No they didn't say anything apart from they were hoping the delays would be sorted out by wed.Since I phoned the message is on the web site saying to phone about flights if your flying mon- fri this week why would that be if they're telling me the flights will be ok from wed?Not good having had a second plane impounded. We are flying sun 23rd to Malaga. I didn't realise they only had one plane ,I thought they had two.

Looks like another delay at Glasgow . The Malaga flight flight retimed for 1200 has still not boarded . Also it looks like they have just abandoned the Athens flight due off 0640 today . This latest delay - if it is - could be the final straw .

Do they only have one aircraft or two,my friend travelled out from Edinburgh to Malaga on a Sunday and returned on a Thursday and was sure they were different aircraft.

Anstruther ... in answer to your question, I believe that the company is currently operating two aircraft. Press reports over the weekend were conflicting, but it was sugggested that one aircraft was impounded in Scotland in a dispute over fuel payments, while at the same time another was impounded in Spain in a dispute over unpaid landing fees.
