I've ordered a "healthy options" meal for myself (the kids have just got ordinary meals) so we'll have to see what Thomson consider healthy... I may end up swapping with daughter because she never eats her meal anyway.
I think I will make sarnies...crazy, isn't it? We're on a 7 am flight, so I guess we'll be spared the rubber omelette and flabby sausages anyway......
We've had meals on Air Europa flights in the past, which were much nicer than the UK meals......so it can be done
I always either ensure I've eaten prior to the flight & or depending on the flight time I take my own freshly prepared food with me in a cool bag and have been doing so even since before the introduction of seperate charges for meals. This also ensures I get what I need food wise for a medical condition too.
Granted, occasionally you might get something that could be called edible on a flight But it's a rare thing IMO The airlines must be laughing all the way to the bank at the amount of people who are prepared to pay an average £10 each way for a tiny portion of poorly presented "food" Oh and don't forget the large and hot cups of tea and coffee
One of the advantages of flying to Far East for your hols is the option of flying on quality scheduled airlines which serve reasonable food even in economy - and its in the price of the ticket as is the drink. Had some good nosh on Etihad, Thai and Malaysian. The green curry I had on Etihad was as good as any I've had in a restaurant.
In defence of the Aldo Zilli meals on thomsonfly, we had them last month out and inbound and they were very good. Both had the healthy options and they were well cooked and presented.Far better than the usual airline crud (if you want to try really bad airline food try south african Airways)..
Just returned from a holiday on a thomas cook flight. I never paid my £12 per person for the meals. However, like previous years I still recieved a meal. perhaps Im just lucky
we're on a 8.25am glasgow to malaga thomsonfly flight on 15th! i'll maybe just eat in the airport before i get on the plane just incase lol!
Flying with First Choice next week to Costa Rica so will report back with my Michelin Man Stars.
I went with Flyjet and they still serve complementary meals on all but some specific destinations, which I think is a nice touch. They were okay. They don't, however do the free tea and coffee anymore, which is a rip of £1.80 if you do want one.
I guess the good thing about mine is that it is included in the price of the holiday! i'll report back at end of july!
We've never had a bad meal on the plane and we actually look forward to it. What does annoy me is the extortionate prices that the no frills airlines charge for a drink and a sandwich. I eat in the airport when flying with these, and that's expensive enough.
Please can anyone tell what type of food is served on Thonsomfly. My experience of food with Eurocypria has been horrible. I ended up having just a crisp cob, which wasn't really very nice as I was hungry but the food was awful. I dont like pasta, moussaka, anything like that so ended up going without. With Cancun being a 10.5 hr flight, I am hoping the food is edible. Hope someone can enlighten me!
JJules,
Cheers mate. Thanks for that.
Make sure you don't read Air Babylon before taking a flight. I read it recently and now I can't face eating Airline food, other than cheese and biscuits
I cant get over people taking pictures of their airline food? and the fact there is a web site devoted to it? How strange!
I agree with previous posts about the change to thomsons inflight meals, they are awful.Normally i look forward to them but in June we went to Menorca flight only and will not get them again. On another matter Mytravel are charging for meals yet when you travel with them from Leeds/brd to Ibiza all passengers get complimentry meals with BMI.This is a pet hate of mine how can they charge for something that is free to all?
We flew First Choice from Gatwick to Cuba and the food both ways was really good. We went Star Class Premier and had warm rolls with the main course (chicken on the way out and tikka masala on the way back), cheese and biscuits ,and the desserts were very tasty too. The snack before landing was a box containing finger sandwiches and cakes, etc. On the way home we even got cornflakes and croissants before landing at 9 am. All meals came with chocolates and coffee - a nice touch. The year before we flew Star Class and the food was of the same high quality. The only difference was that it was not served on crockery (it came in the usual airline tray). I am a very fussy eater but as far as airline food goes this was excellent.
just came back from holiday flying with monarch meals were good brekki on way out sausage, scrambeld egg and beans bread roll fresh orange and coffee and a loverly blueberry muffin on way back mash, sausage carrots and peas in a onion gravy banoffe pudding with water then tea realy good
