We too did the bellevue in july a couple of years ago and the lack of airconditioning was a real let down. This year we were up at the port area in the viva tropic and it was perfect it was a decent walk down to bellvue but flat and no trouble getting around. We went one october to lagotel and the tempreature was in the high 20s although it rained a couple of days.

We stayed in Sea Club the last week of September last year. Air conditioning did time itself out but you just hit the switch and it came back on - not really a problem. Entertainment was winding down but still on nightly at hotel - some friends stayed for a further week and said there was still entertainment on in evening. The Bier Garden was our favourite place - esp. the kebabs. There's a steak restaurant opposite Sea Club, really nice food and most nights had a guy on a piano singing - quite pleasant. This was partially indoors with air - con throughout. There was a large hotel between sea club and Bier Garden by the Hawaiin bar - There was evening entertainment on in there too, not sure what it was like, could just hear it as we returned to Sea Club.

Cheers everyone for the replies, Yes I want to take them to Alcudia, its the only place Ive went too and thought "Oh yeah this will do them" As I said before they have never been away and Ive been going for the last 10 or so years and I always beg them to go but the never had..
Not sure why the have decided to go next year but Im really pleased. Im gonna look into the Sea Club and check it out for prices, although I was speaking to someone last night and they said Sea Club is mostly German and not many British people stay there, not really sure if this is true or not..
Im still hopeing to get some more replies with other apartments in Alcudia (main Bellevue strip) that has air conditioning so if you know of any let me know please.

Cheers
Dawn.

PS Does anyone know the name of the apartments above HOLAS restraunt or the block to the left of HOLAS restraunt?

There's a previous thread on Sea Club - I went last year and have jotted a few notes down about different blocks on this thread- One block was mainly scandinavian/german, all the rest were british as far as I could make out. Would recommend this place, entertainment of a night too :P

Have just come back from the Lagomonte, had brilliant air conditioning - not once did I feel too hot. The also have entertainment every evening with shows and tribute bands etc, it is about a 2 min walk from the bellevue. We had my parents with me and they loved it - would reccomend this hotel to anyone x

We stayed at the Lagoon Centre Apartments last year and they had air conditioning. Apartments are in front of the Lagomonte and near enough to walk into the centre and to the beautiful beach. We booked with First Choice and had a great holiday at the apartments.

Dawn the Bier Garten (Tamarindo) is right at the top of the street (Come out of Sea Club main entrance, head up past Cheers, cross over to the same side as Sol Alcudia Centre and turn left at the top, walk past the supermarket and there it is.....)

The air con in Sea Club is timed...but I think that is understandable and as has been mentioned you just hit the switch and it comes on again.

We fired it on when going out for dinner and hit it again when we got back in.

Sea Club has a whole range of nationalites staying there, but there are plenty of British there too.

The Kebabs are wonderful, it is pricey but well worth it.

:D Hi,Katie,Alcudia is a lovely resort,it's fairly lively, but without going over the top.Lot's of nice places to eat and some nice bars.
Plenty of shops and the beach is gorgeous, theres also a waterpark, which is great for a day out!!!
Lot's of excursions you can book,we did these with local tour operators, but beware we got taken to a place where they did demos of matresses before we actually did the excursion, lol!!!
We also did the pirate show but through our tour operator, which was a good night out,the kids especially enjoyed it.
There's also the port of alcudia, which easily reached via taxi,we even walked there cos it's a lovely walk across the beach, hope this info helps, please don't hesitate to ask if you wan't to know anything else, kind regards Maz.

hi went to alcudia may 2006,had a great time, loads of bars and restaurants. There are loads of shops but they sell the same things so if you go up to the habour the shops are better. The beach is the best, clean which makes a change. The entertainment is not bad but it depends on what you want as a person,we found the DJ in the jolly roger this year was great he did loads for the kids and grown ups too.The food there is lovely a bit dear but better than some, try tanyas aswell she does everything on her menu that bar is near the water park.We are going back in september 2006 ,jolly roger here we come.We think alcudia is a great place for families with kids or somewhere to chill aswell, there are no boy or girl groups just families wouldnt go anywhere else again.

Hi there

I have been to Alcudia numerous times and yes it is a lovely place but last year we went to the Hawaii Hotel in Palma Nova wihich we really enjoyed. It is about a 10 min walk to Palma Nova and the same to Magaluf. You are not bothered with any noise and the hotel location is excellent.

Hi
I went to alcudia in 2005 but out of season. We stayed in acludia, but i am unsure whether i would be right in saying we stayed in Puerto de alcudia. (It had what seemed to be a lake with little canals coming from it which had small bridges to cross.) Where we stayed was lovely and did look as if it would be quite busy, as it had a good selection of bars/restaurants. We also went to another part where there was the port area, and then another area which seemed to be surrounded by castle walls?
Please could anyone help, as i have booked flights for May next year, but now need to decide where to stay. Any advice on Apartments, child friendly, possibly with a little childrens evening entertainment would be great as well.

All information welcome
ThankYou

the area in which you are describing with the lke and rivers with the bridges over them is the bellevue area of alcudia named after the large hotel complex that dominates it. this can be very pleasent out of season but extremely busy and over run with kids during the day and evenings and party goers at night. however as you would have seen it is very close to all of the local ammenities so with kids can be great. try either the delfin Azul (thomson, thomas cook) or te sea club 2 appartments (first choice) in this area.

the next area where the harbour is is lovely, now this is the port of alcudia, it gets very busy just like the bellevue area but is less boisterous. there are some lovely restaurants etc for an eveing out and oyu are a 25 min walk or 6 euro axi ride away from bellevue. try the Viva Tropic appts (first choice)

The last area you alked about with the castle walls is the old town of alcudia, this was the old roman capital of the island. It is stunning to visit with lots of historical areas etc and the town markets on a sunday and wednesday however i do not know of any family hotels within easy reach of the area.

All of these areas come under the bay of alcdia which stretches right along the coast also taking in the Las Gaviotas and Playa De Muro areas of alcudia too. these are about 2 - 3 miles further along the coast from Bellevue heading towads Ca'n Picafort (away from Palma) they can get buusy but no where near as busy as the bellevue or port areas. there are numerous restaurants up there but most tend to gear towards bugers and chips and kareoke. the standard of hotels in this area though is anything but that. most tend to be of a better standard than those in the other areas of alcudia. depending on what you want you have the continental park (thomson) Logotel (First choice) however this is a very large comlpex, Las Gaviotas (first choice). the other hotel i would most definately recommend in this area is playa garden (first choice) lovely modern complex right on the beach, full kids club facilities and mixed entertainment etc, 4 star plus appts the only draw backis that it is at the very far end of the resort a little away from the main parts however the local bus stops directly outside, is very cheap and frequent and a good service, also there is a taxi rank literally 1 minutes walk away. there are other hotels in the immediate vacinity though as well as a few restaurants. these do tend to be a little expensive due to their captive audience no doubt.

Anyway I have gone on enough I hope this helps, if you do need any other information by all means ask and id be quite happy to help

Thank you so much for all that information. It has really cleared things up. You obviously know alot about the area, so i may be in touch again. I don't suppose you know what area the Eden Alcudia is? Family friend mentioned it the reports seem o.k on it, but i will also look into all the hotels you have mentioned. Would it be very busy Middle of May?
Reply
Hi, Eden Alcudia is right by the border of Puerto Alcudia (in the bay of Alcudia area) and Playa de Muro. In mid-May things won't be that busy. If it helps more, maps of areas of Alcudia and reviews of the various bits are available on http://www.thealcudiaguide.com
