I don't know the apartments but we stayed in Alikanas about 5 or 6 years ago. It's quite a small resort with a good beach, more suitable for families and those enjoying the quiet life. The resort of Alykes is right next door and slightly bigger. There were plenty of good places to eat, from what I remember. We realy enjoyed it there, it really depend what you are expecting from the holiday.
Have a look at the link below. Some useful information and it has a forum too!!

Stayed here in May 2003 on a last minute cheapie. Good beach (one of the better ones on the island - good for kids as it does not get too deep and as is gently shelving). Its a quieter resort - but still has a fair selection of bars and restaurants - food of all kinds (British, Indian, Chinese - even some Greek). Like most of ZAnte seems to target itself at the British market.
There is a bus service that runs into Zante town and there are a few places to hire cars to get about. Can walk to nearby Alykes which has more bars and restaurants and cash machines (which don't always have money in them). Locals very friendly.

You must try the taverna Paradisiako (sp)! It's situated on the main road between Alikes and Alikanas. Excellent Greek food to be had here, but be warned, they are very popular and can get very busy.
Another good place to eat is the Ponderosa (Alikes). Good Greek food and good service. Whilst in Alikanas, have a meal at the Greedy Greek. Nice food and Greek dancing.
Enjoy!

I don't know Danny and Ioannis studios but I know a man who will. Check out this website http://www.justzante.co.uk and click on the apartments. It will tell you everything you need to know.
I can tell you Alikanas is an excellent base to explore Zakynthos, has some great tavernas, lovely bars and wonderful people. What else do you need????

I think this is the same resort ??? :- http://www.alykes.com/index.html
The airport IS a nightmare, no matter what time of year you go!
It's very small and has only 1 werly gig, so if 2 flights come in close together, then it is pandamonium!!!!
Having said that, holidaying in Alakanas or Alikes makes all this worth while
Have been to Alikes 4 times now and enjoyed every visit.
As for the horse drawn carriages, some are free, some are not. People who stay in Alikes usually use them to go the the 'Greedy Greek' taverna in Alakanas. The ride there and back is free as long as you purchase a meal in the said taverna.

The Mantalena restaurant is the best one in Alykanas
No Alykes is not the same place, Alikanas is about 1&1/2 mile East, the map on that site shows only the outskirts of Alikanas on the left hand side. It takes around an hour to reach the beaches on t'other side of Alikanas.
I can recommend the restaurant O'Paradosiako midway between Alikes and Alykanas - serving mainly Greek food (not so easy to find in Zante as most restaurants seemed to be serving the British market). Also have a look on the web for vouchers to print off for free house wine etc for a number of the restaurants in Alykanas.
And the airport is choas in May. If you have a daytime flight on the way back it may be worth taking some drink and a snack as you can be queuing for some time outside the airport - sometimes with no shade.

I heard from http://www.justzante.co.uk that the taxi drivers of alikanas had got the Horses and Carts banned?? I think its true. Alikanas is a great place with some great little tavernas. The chinese/Indian in Alykes in really good aswell for an alternative
We loved Medusa, Dionysos, the Lemon Tree ( which is a horse and cart ride away) and also Mantalena the food in these places are fantastic. I personally wouldn't bother with the Greedy Greek it's all a bit mass produced and samey. The Mill Bar is great for a lunch time snack/salad and they do a good Greek night too.
Enjoy.

Enjoy.

alykanas is what is says in the brochures , a peaceful laid back resort ,teh best restaraunts we enjoyed were dyonisos, which we ate at most nights, mantalena, medusa , la caretta. The beach is lovely , shallow water , you can feed the fish with bread from your hand , the trips to the blue caves are brilliant on the speed boat a good site toe try for reviews is http://www.justzante.co.uk
