hi there, we were in alikanas in the first 2 weeks of september last year and had a lovely holiday, we self catered so ate out every night and never had a bad experience. our favourite place was the mantelena which was typical greek home cooking. we noticed that it filled up quickly at the weekends with the locals too, who were often there to celebrate family birthdays and other occasions. the food was super, in particular dishes such as rosmary lamb, cooked and served in it's juices with roasted vegetables and herb potatos...it tasted so homemade. they also did wonderful gyro pittas and moussaka. other good restaurants, in our opinion were dionysos and romanza-again really good greek dishes.i am sure you will love it, and if you have children, most of the restaurants have outdoor play areas to keep them amused whilst you view the menus!
