Did anyone make a trip to Kefalonia whilst in Alykanas? Was it an organised trip and is it worth going there?
Thanks
Rita
We went to Kefalonia in May, what we did was well worth going for but ideally you really need at least two days over there, better still, have a holiday over there. Their Bus Service is far superior to that of Zante. We did the Monastery, Drogratti Caves and the underground lake. We then went to a village on the coast for lunch, after this we went up the coast a little more and did a photo stop of a beach. Keep your camera handy as a couple of minutes up the road, you will see a rock face in front of you. When we went by, it was covered in Goats so make sure you are sitting on left side of coach. After this we headed for the Capital which i think is Argostoli, we were dropped outside a VERY expensive icecream parlour. Take a walk back along the seafront towards the main town and you will get icecream a lot cheaper. If you decide to go, make sure you take a camera. This trip is governed by the Ferry and the roads on Kefalonia are very twisty. Have you thought about doing the two day trip to Athens?? If so, do it on the friday/saturday through Dionisos Tours/TEZ, Costas will be your Guide, he is the Bees Knees. Should you decide to do this, then go with him to the Greek Night, excellent value. 26 Euros each gets you a Bottle of wine and a four course meal, male and female singers, a Band, a Bellydancer and a Professional Troupe of 6 Dancers who perform Dances from different parts of Greece in the Traditional Costume of the area.
Hi
small and quaint but plenty to keep you busy. weather was very hot though about 47 degrees. take mossie cream though as my little girl was bitten quite badly.
back from alykanas , our visit to the pouliezps villas was lovely , yannis and his family are so helpfull and you couldnt ask for a better view , you have the sea at the front and the mountains behind , the apartmest do have an ice box in the fridge , if your on the outside you have a through draft so that cools you down the middle apartmenst on each floor have a fan but if you ask yannis will get you one , give arris a stroke for my daughter he`s yannis new puppy a labrador cross he` so sweet ,anybody going enjoy yourselves

Lovely beach!
Go to resort reports, I have got a piece under Alikanas plus there are some more under Alykanas spelling.
We have just returned from Alikanas and really liked it. The 2 towns of Alikanas and Alikes have merged into one so there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. The bay is beautiful and the sea was shallow and warm for quite a way out. However, the beach itself was like an ashtray! That was probably the only disappointment though.
where did u stay in alikanas?
I am considering going there next summer, hopefully booking soon!
It`s one long beach all around the bay. It used to be beautiful, it`s a shame if inconsiderate people HAVE turned it into an "ashtray". We used to walk from Alikes, where we were staying, round to Alikanes, just walking in the shallow edge of the sea, lie on the beach for a while, then walk back, it`s a lovely bay, and you meet lovely people when you bump into the older locals.
