A bit confused here- does this mean that I have to post to Edinburgh or Birmingham only for visa. Thanks

It looks that way at the moment OAP...but as others have said....allow PLENTY of time as there is usually a delay normally without all the London Visa applications being sent there. ... and as someone else said...HOW LONG..before they stop accepting postal applications..and we'll all have to either visit in person...or pay the extra £20 or £25 via a travel agent! I feel the visa is expensive enough as it is..without the add expense of an agent!

Thanks Pam, will start the ball rolling for November

I've read somewhere that Edinburgh will only deal with applications for people with Scottish addresses so you'd better check before you send off.

I agree with Pam about the cost, especially if you're only having a single 2 week holiday over the 6 month period.

Why can't they just charge a fee on entry like a lot of other countries do?

To be honest, I didn't have a bad time queing in London. I got there at 7.15am, waited until 8.30 for the dorrs to open, we walked out with our visas at 9.30. I know that sounds like alot of waiting, but it didn't feel that bad at the time. Although I did get the shock of my life watching how crazy people became once the doors opened!!!!!

So glad I checked on this today. I'm going early Sept so thought I'd post to London in August and then I'm still in the time limit to go again Jan/Feb 08.

So now I will post to Birmingham this week as I've 7 weeks before I go.

Can someone help and give me the address for Birmingham please.

I found the text below on the Indian High Commision Site.

i]What are the requirements for a postal application?

Kindly ensure that all columns of the application are filled in, required documents, photographs and the correct fee in postal orders or banker?s draft are enclosed. When applying by post an additional handling fee of ?1/-should also be sent. Applicants should also enclose a self-addressed special delivery envelope for the passports to be posted back.[/i]

Does anyone know if there is still a handling fee for postal applications. as stated above. This appears to be getting more and more difficult to get a visa. I live in South Wales so really I have no chance of getting to a visa surgery.

Are they trying to put us off visiting???

 Yes....you have to pay the £1 for postal applications. Trying to fill the form out correctly is like doing an exam  - you have to read ALL the small print!
