Hi all

Just a bit of extra info for anybody going in person for a visa (or even by post for that matter).....we went to the Huddersfield surgery on Saturday and got a one year tourist visa. You have to specially ask for it and it costs an extra £20 pp but it is a big saving, especially if you go more than once a year.

Does anyone know what time these surgeries usually start at?
I've been quoted £65.00 for a visa from Birmingham  Not paying that no way.

Hi all
Can I just add that you are allowed to get up to 10 visas when you apply in person. We saw a few people doing this when we went to the visa surgery in Huddersfield on Saturday. I know it not much help but it does mean only one person has to go when a large group is involved.

Hi,
If you can't apply for your visas in London by post, does anyone know where to get them from? I live in Stoke-on-Trent, is there somewhere close to me where I can go in person?
Any help appreciated. :)

Hi Beckey
I think your area is covered for post by the Birmingham office.

Michelle how did you get a 1 year tourist visa? What is the criteria? What is the price? Do you hold a British passport?

I see you went to a surgery so is it only possible to obtain a 1 year there? The site says 6 months only!

Hi all

I actually asked for a one year 'x' visa....they wouldn't give us that but the official offerred us a one year tourist visa. I have heard of them being given out occasionally but I think you have to ask specifically and as usual it depends on who serves you :D

I really really really need a 1 year visa. However, they don't give them. I have to do a visa run after about 5 months in India so I can then re enter on a new visa.

I have a lot of worries about doing a visa run as I feel I wont get a 6 month multiple again...Indian embassies seem to not give to sh..s about tourists!

Hi

When we went we actually asked for a one year 'x' visa but we didnt hold out much hope and were not allowed one. The official then said he would issue a one year tourist visa, maybe it was a consolation..I really don't know but I got the impression if you asked for one you would get one. It costs an extra £20pp, but saves you quite a lot in the long run.

I have heard of a few people getting them before, because they are not widely publicised and therefore I don't think many people request them. Actually I think they can authorise them for longer than one year if they feel so inclined.!!

You see I'm going to Goa and othe parts in November 2007. I'm thinking of trying this when I apply. As I result I will now apply 2 months earlier.

I'm in India for 8 months.....I'm very worried about making a visa run...that they wont issue me a visa or wont give me a 6 month multiple.

What do you reckon?

Regarding your 1 year tourist Visa.Do you still need to go out of the country after 180 days as per other visas.

Thanks

I will put on the visa application form my travel plans from November 2007 to July 2008 over India with a week in Sri Lanka. Based on that do you think they will grant me a one year. They will see I have travel plans in India ordo you think they will send me packing with nothing?

I can even get Indian citizens to attest I will leave India after the 8 months if need be. Anything but a visa run risk.

I will call them tomorrow but I guess they will be rude and not at all helpful as expected.

You can see the problem..

hi beckey
the holiday i booked at a very cheap price, came via an e-mail from "APPOLO TRAVEL". the tour operator is "SOMAK" whom i have been to goa with several times, and are very reliable. there are other tour operators who use the "OSBOURNE" one that i know of is "THOMAS COOK".
if you read my post that tells you of the price i paid, i wouldn't think the price is now the same, because it was a limited offer.
Appolo travels phone number is :-01709 720336. and i will add, there were specific dates for that deal. they were 30/11/07 or 7/12/07.
Its gotta be worth a try though!!!!! :gluck :glynis
