Hi Jool ... welcome to Holidaytruths. If you haven't already seen them, you can read our reviews of this complex here:
HI jool ,we stayed here 2 years ago, great apartments.5 min to the beach, bars, restaurants. the rooms do have safety deposit boxes have a great time
One thing I will say about the Atalaya Apartments, they are on two levels. We were near the top of the first level but the other, higher level, was up quite a few steps. We thought it was bad enough to climb the ones we had but if we'd been at the top then I don't think we'd have been quite so enthusiastic. There was a supermarket at the bottom of the steps and also a takeway nearby that sold cooked chickens etc. if you didn't want to eat out but didn't want to cook. There are lots of shops on the main road and the beach is just across the road.
We're thinking of going to the Canaries again this year and can't make up our minds whether to go to Tenerife again or back to the Atalaya Apartments. The trouble with going back is - we may not get such good apartments next time as some of them were right by the pool or had windows that faced a plain white wall so had no view but, if the reception staff are as accommodating as they were last time, perhaps we could even ask for the same apartments!
Me again! We've decided to go back to the Atalaya Apartments but I can't find their email address even though I've got their bill but it's not on there.. I'd like to contact them rather than booking through an agent because I want to ask if we could have the same apartments as last time. The place was half empty when we were there the year before last, in early November, so I'm hoping they can do it - I just need the address please!
Hi Spindles and alison, thanks for your help. Spindles, I have found their e-mail address and telephone number on the hotel reviews on this site. The e-mail address is atalaya@saym.es and their telephone number is 34 928 51 43 23. Hope you get booked in to the same apartments and have a great time, we are off on 4th September and really looking forward to it, just hope the baggage handlers strike in Lanzarote is sorted out by then.
Hi Spindles, me again. I have just tried the e-mail address I gave you and it has been returned as undeliverable. If you find an e-mail address that works please let me know.
I Googled atalaya apartments email address and managed to find someone else asking for it, think iit was on lanzaroteisland.com They were told it was atalaya@sayma.es (needs an a to make ma) I sent an email on Friday but haven't heard anything yet. That email address sounded familiar because I wrote to them a couple of years ago. I can't remember how long it took for them to reply but it couldn't have been very long as I don't remember getting into a panic!
I have just received a reply to my e-mail to atalaya@sayma.es so it is the correct address. I requested a room on the lower level after reading your advice and they said they will try.
Good, means it shouldn't be long before I get a reply off them as well. Hope you get your request. I know they can be very good because when my husband and I went the year before last, my friends had already booked a package with Thomsons. I booked the same flight and asked Atalaya if they could possibly put us near to our friends. We arrived before them because we'd hired a car and we were very pleased when they knew our names and remembered our request and we had two really good apartments with lovely views. I'm hoping I'll get the same again this year - fingers crossed.
Can anyone please confirm what's at the top, is it just two bedroom apartments or could there be one bedroom as well? I want to book with them but I don't want it to be up lots of steps. Thanks.
Hi Spindles, we came back from Atalaya yesterday, we had lovely one bedroom apartment overlooking the pool on the lower level which is what we asked for. There are one bedroom apartments on the upper level too, lovely views but as you say lots of steps.
I have now booked two apartments, not with Atalaya itself, as they eventually emailed me to say they could only confirm one apartment. so I booked two apartments with lanzarote.com. I am assuming that people like Thomsons, lanzarote.com and Atalaya have "blocks" of apartments and once their block has been booked they can say that they have none left when actually there are other apartments in other blocks that are still available. We'll have to wait and see where we end up as I asked for higher floors, not near the pool and even suggested the room numbers we'd had when we stayed before. The Atalaya email said they would try and give us one of those rooms so we may still be in luck. I don't really relish having to climb up to the upper level, now I know that there are one bedroom apartments up there as well - I thought they were only two bedroom - oh well.
We had an apartment in the top block and yes, there were a lot of steps but to be honest you just get used to them (and if you look at it positively we must have burned a fair few calories walking up and down them several times a day!!).
We stayed around the pool on the upper level during the day, and this was much less busy than the pool on the lower level. We had lunch at the pool bar (on the lower level) a few times and the food was very good (steak and kidney pie, chips, peas and gravy - highly recommended!!).
It is only about 250 metres to the promenade and it is a lovely walk along it in the evening. When chucking a right down the promenade, it is about a half hour walk to the old town area where there are some lovely restaurants right next to the harbour - try Puerto Bahia for awesome food and service - probably our favourite restaurant! There are loads of restaurants on the promenade and our favourite here was by far an Italian gaff called "L'Artista" - absolutely awesome - both food and service (legendary chef/owner/comedian!). There are also some lovely restaurants left down the promenade. Try "Terraza Playa" on the right hand side - right next to the sea - a truly wonderful night!
We had an apartment on the first floor with beautiful sea views. The receptionists were very friendly, the maids came five times a week, and overall I couldn't recommend these apartments any more.
many thanks waffers
I emailed them myself a few weeks ago about room availability and they can be rather slow in answering. They could only confirm one apartment when I wanted two so I tried ringing them but they said I had to email. In the end I booked the apartments through lanzarote.com and everything was as requested - high room not near the pool (lots of steps though). If you need any more information don't hesitate to ask.
cheers waffers
Glad to be of help. As for the weather, the first five days were sunny and not too breezy but one day was grey, wet and windy and the next day was very windy - better than the UK I suppose as when it was hot it was about 26 degrees, could have done without the wind and rain though.
looking for the website for Atalaya aoartments in Puerto del Carmen
