We are travelling from Ireland to Santa Ponsa soon and would like to bring a little cash-with most of our spending money logged into out AIB bank account..
Can anyone tell me if we can use an AIB/TSB bank card in Majorca???
Apart from travellers cheques, what other way is safest for holiday spending money????
Hi everyone. We are off to Alcudia for the first time tomorrrow evening and am taking enough euros to last a few days. We are then going to withdraw cash as we need it. Just wondering are there many cash machines/banks/Atms in Alcudia.
You wont have a problem Mark, we used the one on the sea front side of the road - its in a really central position on the opposite side of the road from the bottom of "Bellvue Boulivard" and just walk a few yards to the left. There's quite a few others too, but cant think of directions to them - just ask at reception in your apartments or hotel and they will direct you, or at a push I am sure anyone working in a bar or restaurant will be friendly enought to give you directions!!!
Thanks Tootsie.
There is also one in the SYP supermarket near Platja D'Or and Condesa de la Bahia hotels, which are further south of the centre.
Off to Alcudia a week on saturday - does anyone know if Solo Cards are accepted - wanted to take it for back up.
Mine is now a Maestro card, but yours should have the same symbol on the back.
Thanks for that - just checked it and it does have the symbol on the back.
yeh as long as it has maestro on the back you can use it in majority of places, i went to majorca last sept and used mine a lot....(especially in the tabac stores!!)
best wishes
ali
im presuming that there is an atm in alcudia last time i went i had no need to use it but as im now monthly pay it may be needed where is it /and how much is the charge for using it
There are loads of atms in Alcudia. You will get charged a small commission and the screen should tell you the amount to be charged. Most can be accessed in English as well as Spanish.
Going to the Palmeras Playa in Sa Coma next week and was wandering if there are any ATM machines in the resort?
Have a great holiday
Don't forget to go to S,illot really spanish, people fantastic, some great restaurants, especially Tapas bar in centre [sorry can't remember the name]

Hi Jimbouk. I'm off to Palmeras Playa in Sa Coma in August. Any feedback on your return would be great. i.e rooms etc.
All the cash machines will accept visa, so you will have no problems there. The machine will not charge you for using your card, but your credit card company will. It will be treated as a cash advance and you will be charged the cash advance rate of your card - most are between 2 and 3%. Most banks will also charge you for using your cash point/debit card abroad - I know its £1.50 every time you withdraw money with LloydsTSB regardless of the amount - so you're better off taking out as much as you can in one go. A few banks don't charge you for taking out cash - Nationwide is the most popular one.
thanks for that stephen
The cash machines will also accept Visa ELECTRON as I got paid while we where on holiday last year I took it just incase, but because we had problems finding acceptable machines a couple of years before that it was going to be more of a stand by - but they took it everywhere and I hammered it!!
thanks
I am hoping to use cash machines while on holiday so i hope some are available also are there bars that show setanta tv for scots football staying at hotel sarah.Just getting my priorities right
