In the middle is the old town where you can find Tapas alley, around this area is lots more shops and bars.
Poniente is more quiet less bars than Levante.
Levante has more english guests the Poniente, the Spainish tend be more in the old town and Poniente.
Thanks Christine, it's nice to have some sort of idea what to expect.
we're staying at the Levante club apartments. By that map I think we're closest to Calle Gerona?
The levante area seems to be full of Brit bars and restaurants, whilst I'm looking forward to that, we also like to eat spanish food in a Spanish place. Am I right in thinking we'll have to go into the old town for that? Can anyone recommend any tapas bars for lunch or any Spanish type restaurants for evening meal please?
Yes you are, but there are lots of bars near to your apartment too. The main cabaret bars are to be found on Calles Gerona and Lepanto.
Can anyone recommend any Spanish places in the old town or Poinette side please?
If you like Chinese, I can highley recomend one at the very start of Poniente, its behind the Fountain of Dove Parc. They do a menu of the day for around 5 euros including half a bottle of wine.
A busy place not far from where your staying that is open 24 hours is Marianos, not a posh place but excellent food and always busy.
Most of the good Spainish places are in the old town or on the road next to centro (where the busues turn around).Taggy has tried several of these I am sure he will be along soon to recomend some for you.
Thanks very much Christine.
Hi Shirley ... we have a few other topics which you may also like to take a look at:
Excellent David. I've been on here since close on 8am this morning and at this rate I'll still be here at midnight
a large screen
reasonable price drinks
a warm welcome
many have said the sports bar (wherever that is)rock star bar, picadilly bar or rocky's bar. can anyone help out with this please.
thanks
if its a big screen you want , go to champions bar , straight across from cafe benidorm next to the hotel orange .
tartans right about the screens in champions bar but I found the drinks to be a little dear compared to the sports bar and picadilly bar
Don't know if it's re-opened, but Champions was closed in early February.
Sue
Thanks Sue
another thing i read was the police have stopped the bars running their own bookies ?.
The police are trying to clamp down on bingo, cards, dominos, bookies...in short any type of gambling. A few bars have been "raided" for bingo and have been fined!!!
