Discussions regarding holidays in the Costa Blanca.
Shirley Benidorm both old and new town are similar in size to both Torremolinos and Benalmadena. Lots of bars dotted around. The main hub of show bars are situated from say the Ambassador hotel to Marina hotel (Levante side). There are 3 main roads with bars and shops running the full length of Levante. The euro bars and special offers are more concentrated in this area.

In the middle is the old town where you can find Tapas alley, around this area is lots more shops and bars.

Poniente is more quiet less bars than Levante.

Levante has more english guests the Poniente, the Spainish tend be more in the old town and Poniente.

Thanks Christine, it's nice to have some sort of idea what to expect.

Shirley. Where will you be staying? Then we can direct you to places near to your accommodation.

This link will give you an idea of where the most bars and entertainment are.

Thanks Pebbles,
we're staying at the Levante club apartments. By that map I think we're closest to Calle Gerona?

The levante area seems to be full of Brit bars and restaurants, whilst I'm looking forward to that, we also like to eat spanish food in a Spanish place. Am I right in thinking we'll have to go into the old town for that? Can anyone recommend any tapas bars for lunch or any Spanish type restaurants for evening meal please?

Yes you are, but there are lots of bars near to your apartment too. The main cabaret bars are to be found on Calles Gerona and Lepanto.

Thanks Pebbles. I've just been looking at a map of Beni (with all the bars/restaurants) that my dad brought back the last time they went and there does seem to be a number of them in our area.
Can anyone recommend any Spanish places in the old town or Poinette side please?

Shirley, if you walk out of your apartments, turn left, walk for 5 mins you will be at the sea front. Then walk as far as you can along the sea front, when at the very end turn right, the first Tapas bar you come to (opposite the Queens) is very good. There are loads more to choose from as you walk into Tapas alley.

If you like Chinese, I can highley recomend one at the very start of Poniente, its behind the Fountain of Dove Parc. They do a menu of the day for around 5 euros including half a bottle of wine.

A busy place not far from where your staying that is open 24 hours is Marianos, not a posh place but excellent food and always busy.

Most of the good Spainish places are in the old town or on the road next to centro (where the busues turn around).Taggy has tried several of these I am sure he will be along soon to recomend some for you.

tartans right about the screens in champions bar but I found the drinks to be a little dear compared to the sports bar and picadilly bar

Don't know if it's re-opened, but Champions was closed in early February.

We left the Orange on Feb.10th and Champions had re-opened two days before.

thanks for the help,i read that the picadilly is closed for refurbishment ? also the clansman or bourbon bar a posibility.
another thing i read was the police have stopped the bars running their own bookies ?.

The police are trying to clamp down on bingo, cards, dominos, bookies...in short any type of gambling. A few bars have been "raided" for bingo and have been fined!!!
