Sounds awful :(
Just to clarify....did you book a guaranteed allocated on arrival holiday in Gumbet? Or did you just request that resort?

I went into the travel agent and specifically requested Gumbet - when they couldn't get the hotel I wanted I was booked for Gumbet but for accommodation on arrival. Idea's.... JoJo

It sounds like you booked a package holiday in which case The 1992 Package Tour & Travel Regulations apply.

The Tour operator has a liability and responsibility for everything that was wrong. This includes the hotel, its cleanliness, accommodation, food, health and hygiene etc. etc.

It is very unusual to request a particular resort when you travel "alloction on arrival".

Usually you check which airport you are travelling to and you can be allocated any resort served by that airport.

It is no help looking in the tour operators brochure as sometimes you are allocated accommodation that is not in their brochures as they want to fill up the seats on the plane.

It is what it states "allocation on arrival" that's why it is so cheap.

If your confirmation slip said allocation on arrival at Gumbet then that is what you should have got. Gumbet not Bodrum.

My friend once did similar - she was offered AOA for Majorca or could pay extra for a named resort ie Palma Nova, she opted to pay the extra to be placed AOA within Palma Nova so this is common practice and you may have paid a little extra for that option.
