Hi... I know... It's a little bit worrying, I've taken him to te police once, so he knows I'll stick up for the children. We'll have to see... They're still in Karnataka at the moment.. Several of the families are but we're still getting around 36 children each day... Which is nice...

Forgot to tell everyone, we've uploaded some more pictures on the website a week or so ago (sorry completely forgot to tell everyone). They are from the first day of heavy rain when we realised... Hmmmm, we best buy some rain coats!!! :) I hope you like them, the children were so happy with them.... Thanks to Dave, Sue and the Elementary girls from the American Creativity Academy for their help in purchasing them. It's a good job we did as the rain came early this year and the last week has seen lots of heavy rain!

Anyway, the pictures are here...

Hi Rob & Sharmina, :)
just seen the new phots's they are lovely, it is so good to see the children looking so well and healthy, you can see in their faces that they really do love coming to Mango House and being with you and the volunteers; carry on the great work and see you over the christmas & new year period, have already started collecting the children more clothes, is it still the older childrens clothing that you require the most?

love to you all,

Jayne (Newbutt) :wave

MadAboutGoa - Glad you like the photos... They look so cute in the new waterproofs... :)

irishcolleen - Thanks, and thank you to everyone at HT for all their support... I always say it but we wouldn't be able to do it without the support we get from you guys... I just make sure things happen, you're the ones that give me the resources to do so!

newbutt1 - We really happy with how well it's going, still battling with 'the powers that be to get all the correct papers signed... It's only been like 8 months!!!! ARRGGHHH! But we keep hassling them! Clothes, we get plenty of under 2's so ones we're after are problem 6 years to 11 years, this should cover most of the children as the 14 year olds here are more like Enlgish 11/12's....

Something we do seem to always need is Shampoo and Conditioner. We use a fair bit of conditioner trying to get the head lice out!!! - lovely job!!! A lovely couple from America has recently brough us a few lice removal sets which are FAB! - Thanks!!! :o) - It's the simple things!

Hi Guys...

Thanks for all the support everyone... You're all stars! I'm spent most of my holiday stuck to my computer doing the newsletter - emails and website... I've got another 10 days in the UK to soak up the glorious sun... Oh damn... I've missed it! - Oh well... Still got stuff to do anyway before I return to Goa...

Thanks to everyone who's helping us with the Big Charity Box, we're still top and stretching our lead slightly... For the hardened supporters ther is another one you can help with if you're interested then message me on here....

Can you let me know how I can get extra baggage allowance as I am getting together bits and pieces to bring for the children. I am flying British Midland to Mumbai and then Indian Airlines to Goa.

Is it ok to bring childrens trainers and light shoes which are in very good condition and have been washed

Thanks

Hi...

Ginlizzy.. Light shoes and trainers are OK, but sandals and flip flops would be better. We are extending who we give things to because of what we get (scarves, socks etc that aren't really suitable for Goa have been sent up to children in the Himilayas etc), we will accept anything really, but remember the chidlren are small (not british sizes) so aim for clothes for children under 13 years of age...

We haven't had confirmation that we can get it this year, but hoping we can. All the airlines were great last year, especially Mytravel when it came to allowing Charity Excess Baggage..

We have a form on our website which you can fill in, this is then sent to us and a month or two before you fly we'll then ask the airline for extra allowance. We have a lady called Mel who is looking after this for us, I'm trying to sort out a CWT email address for her, but will have to wait till I return to Goa. She will then get any extra details and contact you when she has been contacted by the airlines... We need at least a months notice before you fly to have the best chance, if you fill the form in ASAP then we've got your details and we will try our best to get the luggage allowance...

Here's the form....

Also on the web page is an idea of what to bring (at the bottom), this is just a guide as I can't think of everything.

Thanks Rob I have only got the likes of teashirts shorts underware etc for under 5's Someone has given me the trainers and sandals and I thought they were to good not to bring.

Will fill the baggage for in over the week end or will contact the airlines myself if necessary

:) Use tea tree oil for lice - they hate it, blob it round the hair line, lots of conditioner to comb out. Shampoo and conditioner tea tree flavour if possible.

Well I've been back in Goa about a month now.. It's been so hectic as we've been trying to sort out the whole Licence thing and we've also been up to Mumbai to give out fruit and given a few things a little more locally..

The licence is coming along although very slowly as they are still concerned that we're foreigners - aparently there's been some in the past who haven't done the best work and they don't want to make the same mistake. Corssed fingers we'll manage it...

Some of the downsides though are that we can't help the children as much, one of the children is now spending most nights in the market area sleeping rough rag picking every day compared to come to us and going to school... Even the schools have written a letter on our behalf so we can further our case... Will keep you informed of more news...

On a brighter note I've added some new photos to the website...

Check out the last set....

Will definately try the tea tree oil.. If anyone is coming over and can brings some that would be great!!!! (just thought I'd ask...). I've updated a few pictures of when we went up to Mumbai, we visited a home up there and also gave out over 500 apples to the children in small pockets of slums... Hope you like the photos...

Rob, if you use a deet based shampoo it will keep the head lice at bay also If anyone wants to take some remedies over to you the new HEDRIN lice treatment works real easily without all the combing. It costs about £11 for a big bottle that does about 6 heads.

fingers crossed that you get that licence soon. You should never have had this carry on in the first place.
