When we were there the last time, I noticed that most locals were smoking "Victory Blue 100mm". We think they are like embassy blue etc. and taste perfect.
Does anybody know what the position is about bringing cigs back to UK, now that Bulgaria is in the EU?
Baz.
Just found answer to my question here;-
it will still only be 200 for now, mind you where would you get the cigs from, the ones in the resorts are fakes and bourgas airport don not sell english cigs
The quantity of cigarettes which can be imported from most of the countries which acceded to the EU in 2004 is still only 200 (see
I saw various brands for anyhting from 65p - 90p, depends where you go to buy, beware of people selling on the beaches as these will be fakes.
As far as I am aware the only places where you can buy genuine UK brands on a holiday in Bulgaria are at the airport 'duty free', and on the aircraft.
try the victory brand
we didn't go to bulgaria last year but on the previous visits we always bought english cigs at bourgas airport, using a mix of lev and stirling.
for the ladies: try those small cigs: 2,40 Lv but you don't get a dry taste in your mouth like with the others
Victory slims and my favo's now = EVA
Are allowances now the same as all eu countries? Also would love to know if there is more choice of cigarettes, as a smoker of menthol cigarettes I found last year I had to take them out with me, any info please
There is no such thing as 'Duty Free' when travelling between EU member states, i.e. you won't be allowed to purchase cigarettes, etc., from the airport Duty Free shops, either here or in Bulgaria.
As with most states which have joined the EU since 2004, UK Customs only allow you to bring back 200 cigarettes from Bulgaria. See THIS THREAD and HERE for details.
The local manufacturer, Bulgartabac, makes many different brands of cigarette, including menthol varieties.
'Western brands', such as Marlboro, Davidoff & West, are available but any 'UK brands' that you recognise in the resorts are almost certain to be fakes.

what is the Bulgarian brand closest to lambert and butler,,,,or any decent english cigerettes,,,i fly out in a few hours and dont know wether to just buy lambert and butler on the plane
There are a whole range of Victory sub-brands - most people find Victory White or Victory Blue suits their taste.
At 2.60 Leva (just over 90p) or so per 20, you could try a few different ones to see which you prefer.

I'll second that Victory is a good brand, the darker the pack the stronger the cigarette.
Try a pack of Red L&M ones 2.60 lev, they are like L&B.
Hi,apologies if this question has been asked before but as the title says i just wondered if any one knows how many cigarettes you are allowed to bring home from Bulgaria. We are staying at the obzor/izgrev hotel on the 30 th of august this year. Also does anyone know if there is a limit on the perfumes you can bring home.
If you click the blue links 'THIS THREAD' and 'HERE' in my post replying to highfieldc (a few posts above this one) you will find that the limit is 200 cigarettes per person.

Thanks Suzie
