sometimes the early tips work both ways. We went to Egypt a few years ago and tipped them after a few hours.
After that we had to search for them to get served - in the Torba we tipped a waiter who was doing our usual
table after a couple of days - at first he had been all over us and then suddenly he seemed to drift off for the
new blood and kept disappearing or bringing wrong drinks when we eventually collared him but on the eve of our
first week it was the white party and we had some of those little hand held fans - god they were like gold dust -
all the waiters wanted one but we promised ours to a little young waiter called Ram and told him if he looked
after us our second week he could have it - plus his tip went up by the day if he was good.........lol. After that
he was brill and was never within 15 ft of us at night and our glasses were always full whether we wanted one
or not - bribery and corruption !! Lovely lad - secret is to take some little fans with you - they love them and
for some reason they can't get them - we gave them out in Rhodes too but only to our favourite waitress and
barman !!
