I E mailed the hotel immediateley to inform them that i will now be going to another hotel unless they withdraw thier decision.
Hopefully they will get the message to them at present.
I'd like to make it perfectly clear that the views I've expressed in this thread are my own personal views, not those of Holiday Truths, and that the proposed new dolphin facility at the Concorde has now made both my Mum and I cross this hotel off our list of possible destinations for next year (and for my Mum this year).
right i've heard from the marine connection and they have confirmed that at present there are NO dolphins at the concorde el salam hotel.
they did however state that when they last visited this hotel, which i think was in december, there was work going on to the dolphin pools, so they could still potentially house dolphins in the future.
in addition the hotel is handing out leaflets to advertise the dolphinella situated on the other side of the town.
the captivity officer did ask that if anyone does go to this hotel and hears anything about dolphins returning here to forward the information onto them...or otherwise post here and i'll be more than happy to pass it on.

Just back from this hotel last night. Really enjoyed it. We were AI and I thought the food was good considering no chicken .. Yes it has a swim up bar and no, the beer is not watered down as it is all poured direct from the bottle (It's called Sakara). We drunk alot of wine which was fine when you got used to it. Spirits ... well let's just say a wee bit different from back home. Hotel has a courtesy bus that runs into Naama, not sure when it stops but it's only about £3 to £4 in a taxi. In my humble opinion I thought this hotel was superb. Not sure what all the rooms are like but we took up the offer of an upgrade (£80) and got one with a sea view and it was huge inside with all the usual stuff (telly, fridge, hairdryer).

I am afraid i have to disagree on the food at Concorde it was awful and all the people we made friends with felt the same (about 15 of us) some went to Nama Bay as they could not eat at the hotel, they catered far too much for the russians and not the british or the italians for that matter, it was sad really because the hotel itself is fine and the staff are brilliant and only to eager to help you.
Can anyone tell me if the aircraft noise at the Sports section is really bad - some reviews say it is and then some don't even mention it - I'm booked up here for my honeymoon in July - we didn't book the main section as we were told we would be upgraded seeing as it was our honeymoon - now I'm a bit doubtful this will happen now and am worried that the Sports sectioni is not going to be up to scratch.
Also is anyone booked with Direct Holidays? Apparently if you're booked with them you can only take your meals in the Sports Section and not in the main section. Is this the case? We were never told this and I'm quite annoyed now!
Thanks
Hi Gillann,so sorry to hear your food was so awful ...i hope it didnt spoil your holiday and thankyou so much for telling us about the lack of dolphins being there i hope they keep it that way.
We stayed in the main hotel and we certainly weren't bothered by the planes. I know the sports accomodation is across the road but I'm sure you will be fine. That said, there was one morning (and I can't remember which day it was) I recall hearing several planes very early in the morning. We also booked through Direct Holidays and I saw nothing to indicate that people from the Sports area could,'t eat in the main Hotel. Let's face it if everyone is given the same colour of band then how can they tell ? In closing, if you get the chance try the lunch at the Italian restaurant go for it, excellent.

I have booked my holiday via Direct Holidays and booked to stay in the sports part but I was read out a statement saying "you had to have your evening meal in the sports restaurant". I wasn't told this when I enquired with Direct Holidays but when I went to book the holiday through Co-op Travel. I have since changed my booking by upgrading to a garden view in the main building.

Although it is only for one week and they don't mind sharing, as they will only be spending a small amount of time in the room, we don't want them being cramped for a week. Can you imagine 3 teenagers trying to use the same mirror to do their hair, etc !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade to larger rooms or a family room when we arrive. We don't mind paying extra. If so does anyone know of any approximate costs or if it is possible to upgrade direct with hotel before we depart.
Thanks
Hubby wasn't happy when he realised it clashed with the World Cup. Are there any bars or large TVs at the hotel where he could watch it or will he have to go into Naama Bay?
Are there exchange facilities at the hotel? We're going to take a mixture of sterling and Egyptian pounds.
Cheers.
We have been in touch with the hotel via e-mail regarding inter-connecting rooms. As we have 13 year old and had to book 2 rooms.
They have come back to me to tell me they will do the best they can and the connected rooms are either overlooking the Aqua pool or garden in the Main Hotel. Can anyone shed anylight as to this area of the hotel. Mainly hope its a quiet spot of an evening as we have 2 young children and early nights!
Another question is the milk - is it ok for young children to drink the milk as I have read - beware of ice, cut fruit, ice cream etc etc. Then I vaguely remember reading about milk being a bit 'dodgy'.
Any more advice will be greatly received with taking 3 kids
Has anyone stayed in the sports section of the Concorde hotel in Sharm? If so can you inform me of how far it is to the main hotel and any other info that might be of use. Thanks
just got back from concorde you wont be dissipointed
Question about the milk, returned from egypt not long ago, both my sons had it on cereal in a morning and had no end of milk shakes, and they had no problems at all, i did ask the staff if the milk was cows milk, and he said yes. We also meet up with another family, and there 2 kids had the milkshakes, no problems either. Hope this helps.
What sporting facilities are available at the concorde?
Are there any watersports, tennis, football (floodlit?) etc etc?
We are booked for late september and really looking forward to our trip.
Cheers
Footy - court at the Sports Complex and they do organised matches each day.
Tennis - not sure.
Hope this helps! It's a great hotel and you'll have a fantastic time. You can also book quad biking.
