Hi Mike
Yes its only the new 20s that it would not take, old ones and tenners were fine - never had a 50 so don't know
Reception would either change a new 20 to egyptian or swap your new ones to old for you. I know there is a bank there but I never saw it open as I tended to change money in the evenings.
Mel - I wouldn't worry , as you say they can't change the location and that is stunning ! Though as Jay says the Blu Club may well be gone and I think that will make it feel bigger as it seemed to have an Italian side and a rest of the World side !

I've just booked the Conrad for mid December and the FC paperwork is for the "Coral Sea Imperial", I don't want to end up in the Coral Sea Resort by mistake!
I don't trust computers for some reason.
Would just like to say a big thank you to Pippy and Lally for the info that they gave me, have been in contact with the Conrad and they have been very helpful with info on upgrading our room. Thanks you have been a big help
You're more than welcome! Just make sure you come back and tell us all about your holiday!firefighter wrote:Would just like to say a big thank you to Pippy and Lally for the info that they gave me

I shall contact them nearer the off, but can I ask: did you have to much extra for the upgrades as for various reasons we have had to select the cheapest rooms on our booking.
We didn't actually request an upgrade, just specific room numbers. We'd already paid for sea view, kettle etc (I can't remember what the rooms were described as, possibly 'premium'??).
They weren't the new rooms though. It was the location of the rooms we wanted
Pippy
Thanks, I think I can remember from your previous rather subdued posts regarding your (then) impending stay, that you had taken that route.
I'm afraid I was being nosy about Firefighter's comment, which implies they did upgrade.
But whilst we are on the subject of your last stay, I was intrigued with your "snorkelling vest".
For my next visit, as my waterproof camcorder case that I use as a buoyancy aid is no longer waterproof, I am contemplating said or similar item.
Can you enlighten me on where, how heavy, and the price at the time and whether you still think it was worth it and any other observations. I would need it in extra large if it goes around the waist!
thanks
Steve
Glad to help Firefighter
Do you mean THIS rather fetching thing?!stevebell001 wrote:I was intrigued with your "snorkelling vest".
I can swim but would rather have something keeping me on the surface when I'm in the water for that long taking photos. I bought that from one of the shops round near the Baron, cost the equiv of about £8 which I haggled long and hard for!
It wasn't heavy at all and I was able to fit it on top of my clothes in my suitcase and bring it home. Not at all uncomfortable and was a great buoyancy aid! I'll definitely take it again should i ever return to the Conrad
I thought if I wore one of those people would no longer stare at my pot belly!
Unfortunately my natural buoyancy level is about 6 inches below the water line, if I am vertical it is even lower, so it is a constant battle to stay on top of the water. The camera case was excellent as it was huge and I could jam it under me and rest all day.
I can't haggle so I'll have to take a tenner or, with today's values, a £50 note, and walk away to see if the shop comes with me. Something on those lines will also do sharing for the rest of the party, who can all swim but are used to the standard UK swimming pool depth of 3 feet and consequently feel uneasy when it gets deeper.
That part was a joke, obviously not very good: that's another career bites the dust..
But the other bit was serious, I did think it was a blow up and the question tied in with the tube joke. Now you have put me right, we will not be looking to get a batch of them due to case space restrictions.
I will also have a quick shufti down the local diving shop to see what they offer just "in case"..
Thanks.
Steve
OMG that went straight over my head!
We have just received our tickets for our holiday at the Conrad hotel and we noticed that accommodation has been printed as Coral Sea Imperial hotel, does anyone know if the Conrad has been taken over yet or is it just our documentaion that is wrong ?
I believe that will be the name by which the hotel is known as of November the 1st
Thanks for the info Pippy, knew that someone would be able to help me out! Roll on 17th November does'nt time drag when your waiting to go lol.
