After seeing the photo update, I now have my doubts as to whether the hotel is going to be completed. I have decided to wait and see what happens nearer the time, because at the end of the day, if the hotel is not complete and we have paid the full amount then it is up to First Choice to move us to a similar 4 star (which is what we paid for, not a 3 star).

did you not see package holidays undercover where last summer they sent guests to a hotel that had no paths slides and pools not finished even after being on package holidays undercover they only compensated them 10%
I think First Choice continuing to sell this hotel at this time, considering the state of work, are taking a huge gamble. If you want a stress free holiday I would get your bookiing changed or cancel and re book elsewhere. Do you really want to worry between now and then about what you will find on arrival and or have to go through the agro of changing hotels once here, or arguning about compensation. What if they cannot move you because everything is full. What if do not tell you until just before departure that you have been put in an alternative hotel that is unacceptable to you?
I have to agree it is a big gamble to take if you continue with this holiday. I was not prepared to take this risk as we are taking 4 young children and I did not want the upset of having to change hotels last minute as we could have ended up somewhere not suitable for us as a family. First Choice know they are in the wrong as otherwise they would not be giving people full refunds. I can't wait to read the reviews on this website this time next year, I will be very surprised if everything is completed, good luck to those of you who are still going you're a lot braver than I am!
I was just wondering if there is anybody else out there who has booked this holiday for next year (July 06) and is still going to wait and see what happens. If so I would be interested to hear from you.
To answer your previous post, whilst it would be the right thing to do for FC to transfer you to another 4* resort, this is not guaranteed to happen.
Holidaymakers who found themselves in a similar situation in Turkey found that they were offered just 10% discount. The main problem is that FC have your money and it may be difficult and stressful to get reasonable compensation if the worst comes to the worst.

Hi janelesley. I have booked to go to the aqua beach hotel with first choice next august 06 I am going to stay booked and wait and see nearer the time. I was not told that it hadnt been built yet when I booked it. So if it isnt finished on time then they will have to give you money back or transfer to another hotel of the same standard. shamus

May I respectfuly ask why risk your family holiday? Hard earned, long awaited, please take heed of netdetective above. The chances are 10 to one you will not be in equal grade accommodation. August is the one month when every hotel is guaranteed to be full and there will not be a good, well established equivalent hotel able to accommodate you.
I actually spoke to First Choice on Saturday, 20th August and explained the situation and I was told that if the hotel is not completed then they will transfer me to the same star hotel. I explained to them that when I booked it was a 4star and not a 3star and they said that I would be moved to the equivalent of what I had booked. I am writing to First choice to get this in writing and I will put another post when I receive this letter.
Still bear in mind the scenario of what if all other hotels of the same category are already full at the time you are booked to go, you will have to accept whatever alternative they offer or have to take a refund and re book with someone else/somewhere else, and how near your departure date are they going to leave it to inform you?
We are considering this hotel for August next year, as it will have everything for the kids at a great price. People are concerned about completion and i can only go on past experience with the Holiday Village Costa Del Sol last year (2004). The main hotel was ready for the start of the season in may although the Beach Club wasn't, and many guests complained and felt cheated. We went later in the season, end August and everything was up and running and we had a superb holiday at a fantastic price. However looking at reviews for this year, seems the place has gone downhill and local residents are constantly demonstrating about the HVs location and noise pollution. I am working on this theory, book the ABC Corfu for next year, end of August, get a good price(theory being that first seasons guests are 'guinea pigs') everything should be completed by then and watch it all go wrong the year after!!!
Must be mad, We are going to take a gamble on this (We are due to go in Aug 06, However First Choice have assured me that if things are not running smoothly with this resort I can change at a later date for no extra charge!!
Hopefully you have these assurances in writing and not just a verbal promise that could be denied at a future date
As of today 9th Sept still no work, site is exactly as per previous photos.
Does anyone think that there might be the slightest chance that this hotel will be built by its due date, May 2006.
hi, when FC built the Holiday Village in Turkey, building restrictions applied, therefore they can only build out of seaso ie end Oct-beg May and this probably applies in Corfu aswell...we went to the HV pegasos palce in august and everything was up and running, however the first arrivals had plenty of problems with things not being ready JCB's still working, no kids club etc..(look on turkey forum) they were only offered 10% compensation, although the very first arrivals got £200 pp or were moved to a different hotel............however this was once they had arrived in Turkey, Fc would not let anyone change there hols without incurring admin fees or cancellation charges.before travel...i hope it all works out in Corfu and im sure the later arrivals will have no problems, but I for one would not book for the beginning of the season....I'm not trying to wind people up just letting you know how it was for others........months of worrying, but i had a great holiday and can reccommend the HV in Turkey to anyone...fantastic
Can FC do this, surely they must know that they were in the wrong when they advertised it on their website as being "newly built". I know you may think we are stupid booking so early, but we have a child and it was such a good price we couldn't resist. As I said the website stated "newly built" that is why we booked it. It wasn't until we decided to get people's views on the hotel that we discovered that it hadn't been built. So who is in the wrong me or them!
This summer has seen a huge change in the way British people are at last using the internet as a resource for information and purchasing; other countries such as Scandinavia have been internet savvy for years.... BUT I wish British people would use it to check out their chosen hotel/resort BEFORE they book. The same thing happened with the new Almyros Gardens /Village hotel which did open albeit 6 weeks late.
You wouldnt check out a new car after you bought it would you?
