Hello All

My wife booked to go to the Corfu Aqua beach club a couple of weeks ago.
After reading all posts on here she contacted FC who offered to transfer from certain brochures within 5 days.
Brochures never delivered as promised so we found a holiday on the website.
My wife rang fc again and wanted an extra 500 quid as Internet price would be a new booking and generally were very rude.
I rang customer services , took about 3 attmpts and an hour to get through but eventually spoke to a very nice reasonable lady who transferred at web price f.o.c., she gave me a direct line number which I could get straight through on.
My advise is to ring customer services, you may have to be patient getting through, but the sales reps on the other lines really do not care and will try and squeeze as much money from you as possible

According to another member on this board, whose parents were near the site, there has been no building work ( as at 16th Sept ) and apparently there have been problems getting permission to build an access road to the site.

Today I have been told that work on the Corfu site has been delayed by pending legal action in an attempt to prevent the resort from being built.

Dear Emily Jane,

As promised I said that I would let you know when we changed our holiday from the Corfu Aqua Beach Club. All you need to do is ring Customer Services at FC and explain that you have booked this holiday and that you have been reading several reports that this hotel has even been built yet. You might not get anywhere to at first but keep nagging them and state that you have had advice from Trading Standards, this worked for me.

We are now going to Tenerife and I must admit I am now really looking forward to our holiday next year.

If I can be of more help, please let me know.

Hi All
First post on a great site, anyway we booked this hotel a month ago, (4th July 2006), but reading all the negs was a bit worried, so yesterday my wife got onto our local FC shop where we booked, and told them of our concerns so she said she would get on to head office, she said they where looking into it.
Got a call of a manager saying work is about to begin, and it is still on schedule and not to be alarmed, and was going to put it in writing, to assure me,
So where going to stick with it for now. :D

Sound to me like First Choice have not learnt all the lessons from the lovely Great escape complex, sorry Blue Bay Escape further up the road. Thats only a couple of years old now.

People who have booked be warned. It will be up and running but with some teething problems.

Hi everyone, I have tried for the 3rd time to get some answers from 1st choice regarding this holiday. We are due to go on 3rd May and my freind last week tried to book to come with us, she was told that the hotel was 'off-sale' until the end of may because of delays in the opening of the hotel. I rang FC who told me the hotel is built, as is the Corfu hotel - but one is in Athens and 1 in Tunisia, they just need to ship them over, but insist that everything is still ok and on schedule to open on 1st May.

They would not entertain allowing me to either cancel or change the holiday without cost, but did say - like they have to other, if I can give them ref nos for people who have been able to change/cancel, then they will allow me to do the same. Please can anybody help...

I have just had a bad expeariance with FC, but unfortunatley had booked this holiday before the last expeariance. My previous tale is that in April 04 I booked to go to the hotel Las Perlas in Cancun departing 18/9/05, early booking saved me £300 per person on subsequant brouchure prices. Two weeks before departure we get a call from Travel Agent asking us to pop in, we thought it was to pick up tickets so didnt rush however our friends who had booked to go with us did - they found that FC had said that due to damage sustained by hurricaine Emily the hotel was no longer operational. My freinds informed us of the hotel that FC were offering instead, one whiich appears in an 18-30's style brouchure ( we were travelling as a familly with 4 children - 2 of which have learning disabilities) and was also on the lagoon side of Cancun when we had booked a beach front hotel. This was disappoining to us, but even more so when, after chatting on another holiday forum, I was emailed by people who were at the Las P during and after the hurricaine, who said not only was there no damage other than a broken window which was fixed there and then, but many people had gone over weeks later and had a good time. I also emailed a tour operator in cancun, with whom I had booked a trip, to tell him we wished change the trip and why, half an hour later a received an email saying he had just drove over to the Las P and it was fully operational.

Next morning I took his email, one direct from the Hotel who confirmed that the hotel Was open and they were still willing to accept our booking, plus other details of people who had been during and after Emily, to the travel agents. They tried to get to the bottom of the matter, stating the alternative was unsuitable and we were still willing to go to the Las P, however after 21/2 hours on the phone to them all they would do was state they only have to offer 1 alternative and thats what they had done, and adviced us to cancel the holiday if we didnt like it. No help, no explanations, not even polite conversation, they didnt care and wouldnt listen to our concerns. (When we agreed to cancel they did offer to put us in one ofthe top hotels - for £2,500 extra!)

With all this still fresh in mind, I was very concerned when I came accross this page about all your happenings - or the lack of happenings - so if anyone can help me further, especially those of you who have been able to change/cancel your holidays, I would be very grateful.

Thanks to you in advance......

Hi Jujosh
It sounds like FC are messing you about by telling you to get other peoples ref nos etc, they could quiet easy look on their computer system to see who has booked at the Corfu Aqua beach. Print off all these comments and photos and go into your local FC shop and demand a FREE transfer to another similiar 4* hotel. Tell them you will have no hesitation of going to trading standards about miss leading info about the property. FC actually e-mailed me back the other day, it only took them THREE weeks to reply. I presume they must of been busy e-mailing everyone else about Corfu Aqua Club lol. If FC are not taking any more bookings for May, they must know there is a problem with the property not going to be ready, and I for one would not like to go in May. A lot of other people have changed for FREE (myself included). It seems it all depends on where you live. DONT give up, thats what FC want. Good look :)

With regards to the Aqua Beach Club in Kefalonia that it in the brouchures for 2006 with FC and they are taking booking, friends who were there in September said this Hotel also had not started to be built and also heard there were problems with planning permission, looks like FC are pulling a fast one and all who have booked should take care their holiday is not spoilt.

Hi all,

Just to let you know, don't give up with First Choice. We were in exactly the same position and was told we would need other people's reference numbers to change free of charge. They don't actually use other people's reference numbers because of data protection so we were told.

Before we decided to change (which we have now done free of charge) we wrote First choice a letter regarding our booking at the Aqua Beach Club, Corfu and our concerns. We have received a letter back stating that the local government make it hard for contractors to build in the summer months, therefore it is necessary wait until the winter months. Apparently the actual buildings for the hotel are being completed in Athens and will be shipped over in accordance to reduce building time. So if anyone out there sees a lorry or a ship with a hotel on board, will you please let this site know!

The letter stated again that we could change free of charge to another hotel in any location. All I can say is stick at it and don't give up and let them fob you off.

Hi ALL, I have seen real photos of the aquapark on another website called medhotels . com and the aquapark is already built. FC have said they are building the Corfu aqualand beach club next to the aquapark with a access road into the aquapark and all the facilities will be free in the aquapark. hope that helps, the reason im looking at this is beacuse we are thinking about going to one of the HV in Greece in 2007, and want to make sure we go to the best one. :hmmm

Sorry Bellingham that is somewhere completely different. That is Aqualand village which is built, and adjoins Aqualand waterpark, at Agh Yiannis.
The only connection between the two places is the owner, he in partner in the PROPOSED Corfu Aqua Club marketed as being in Acharavi but is in Almiros.

PS anyone notice they offer of two identical properties under different names: Almiros gardens and Almiros Village????!!!!http://www.medhotels.com/ No wonder all their clients were confused!

Hi everyone, have tried again today - spoke to FC Customer services - very unhelpful, and was told 'go to trading standards, they have nothing to do with us, abta are our authority and they are not interested in this matter' however again stated that if I furnish them with names and ref nos of others who have changed their booking, they would look at it again...so, if anyone can help, please do so.

Hi Jujosh,
If you send me a e-mail, I will e-mail back to you are old ref num for Corfu. Lets see if that helps you in any way. I dont understand why FC seem to have different polices at different shops and at customer services. Surley if one booking has been changed free of charge why cant they all be changed free of charge. After all isnt it suppose to be about FC giving excellent customer service instead of giving people the run around???? Is there any FC staff out there reading this, can you give us any answers, anonymously of course??? :D
