Hello, Everyone,
There are a couple of confusing things going on here.
People are still talking about the '£10 cruise offer', yet the letter from the DE states that all payments have been cancelled and that the cruises are now free - with the option of a partner going for £250. Has anyone actually paid the £10? If so, according to the DE, they should get refunds.
Secondly, there seems to have been very little discussion of Going Places having taken over the offer from Rise.
Incidentally, be careful when you speak to staff at Going Places - they are handling three DE cruise promos (the Oct. 10th Celebration cruise, the latest 'free' offer and our own ex-£10 cruise). Not all their staff know which is which. And, furthermore, the 'free' offer appears to have been cancelled as the agency is sueing the DE over it.
I rang the special telephone number twice and there are, apparently, three staff handling the DE '£10' promotion. However, twice when I have rung that number other people have answered and they knew nothing of the promotion (one even said: "£10 cruise? You've been had!" How right she was! Another said:"Sounds like the DE have made a right c***-up of this offer!").

This cruise offer is just as bad as the Hoover fiasco some years back if anybody remembers

Think we should get the protest going

I think it's worse than Hoover. That was just incompetence: an over-redemption. This is much more serious, hence the legal actions invlving Louis, Rise/MKM, My Travel, etc.

Cruiser,
Have I missed something? What's all this about a celebration cruise, a "free" offer, and our £10 cruise. I only know about the latter.

My heart goes out to those poor peope in New Orleans what a terrible tragedy. it is always the poorest people who suffeer most. Our lack of a cruise seems very unimportant in comparison to their suffering doesn't i

" People are still talking about the '£10 cruise offer', yet the letter from the DE states that all payments have been cancelled and that the cruises are now free - with the option of a partner going for £250. Has anyone actually paid the £10? If so, according to the DE, they should get refunds".

Just to update you I have emailed Watchdog & DE all the contacts including S Myerson, S Sherer, R Ambar, M Danks and K Newton - and youve guessed it not a single response from DE - onwards and upwards is all I can say

Has any-one had a reply from any-one from DE

Could you copy and paste the whole of your letter, as it sems you are the only one so far with this information, and if it wasn't in a letter to you where did you hear this from.

We are being very demanding

Has something official been announced?

I think many of us have missed this

Alli
I've just looked at the Last Minute site for the Melody cruises and although it does say flights from London to Venice it may be that the flights from London to Milan are full, hence the transfers from Venice to Genoa instead of Milan to Genoa.
Well done Jenny L that could be the Answer, otherwise we were going to have to go round the whole peninsula paddling as fast as we could
I was originally given (in Oct) a date of 12th March on Louis Cruise touring round the Med, I was so excited as I could never afford a cruise on my own otherwise. Needless to say when Feb came round it was cancelled, & I was offered the holiday vouchers. I returned these and despite being told about 10 times I would get a call within 5 days to rebook my cruise I never heard a thing. I tried other phone numbers and left lots of messages, the last thing I heard was a letter dated 27/4/05 (from Rise) saying I would be contacted within 6-8 weeks.
What should I do now, I can't read all these mails to find who to email at the DE? I did email Watchdog initially but didn't hear anything.
Of course I had trouble booking another holiday this year as it was late being cancelled...:-(
Ahhh some new faces i see. It 's been a while since i posted so i should really expect it. Bon Voyage and happy cruising to all those about to sail you will have a fabulous time. MSC are a tremendously brill company and i thoroughly enjoyed my cruise on the Armonia.
I see that the DE are still not fulfilling their promise that everyone will get their cruises as promised on Watchdog. I also see that the would be cruisers are still fighting for theirs. if i can do anything to help i will be only too pleased( within the law that is ). Keep on fighting for your cruises i say !!!!!!
Times today was reporting about Argos and the trouble they have been having because a TV was priced wrong on their web-site . As a sub-feature the newspaper listed previous "marketing disasters" . This included the Hoover free flights offer and the Avon free mobile phone promotion. Rise / MKM also get a mention , but only concerning the BT and Julio Gallo wine free flights. There is no mention of the Daily Express £10 cruise or free flight promotions. Is this a case of the the newspaper industry closing ranks and not wanting to report on the troubles being suffered by other newspapers? Or have the Times not heard of this fiasco?

Welcome to ALL the newcomers - please don't feel left out - just cause we've spent half of our adult lives on one topic (well it seems like it - my copy of the DE offer and terms is yellowing, and my hair is turning "Salt & Pepper" so says the coven - none here at present)

I am totally confused

Now Cruiser has done a bunk with the "Free Cruise" offer (if ever there was one), if it was not for you lovely people I think I would lose the will to live. we seem to stummble from one tale to another at least I have my cruise - well I hope so,

Byeee for now

Phil
