Hi I'm one of those who was allocated a cruise on the 12th March in the Med, which I have told that I will 'probably' not be going on.

When I received my allocation letter last year, I rang to ask how much it would cost to take my daughter along, but nobody got back to me. In the wait, my daughter changed her mind about going. If they had rang me back I may well have bought extras.

Hi everyone,
Although this is the first time I have written on this site I have been watching and reading with interest over the last few weeks.
Have finally been allocated a cruise on MSC Melody on 24th October 2005. Another family member saved the voucers for me so I actually applied for 2 cruises. However now am very doubtful I will receive the 2nd cruise. Has anyone else been allocated 2 cruises?
Anyone else going same time as me?

I've been away for most of the past week, so I'm catching up on posts ... Carol Russell, we seem to be the only people from the group offered the week in Spain ...

Regarding DE's right to "withdraw the offer" .. it's now (my god) nearly 40 years since I studied contract law, but my recollection is that anyone who makes an offer can withdraw it ...until it's been accepted. Once accepted, then a contract is formed, and anyone breaking a contract is liable for damages. We've individually completed our side by collecting and sending in the vouchers.

Luckily, DE/Rise have actually put a figure on damages; Rise by stating that the vouchers offered are of equal value to a cruise, and the man from DE by stating on nationwide TV that the vouchers were worth £1000.

I'm not a lawyer (and I wish my memory of 10 minutes ago was as good as my memory for 39 years ago), so it would be useful to have a comment from any lawyer in the group.

Not that I'm making any sort of suggestion, in any form, way or manner that DE might break their contracts.

Hi Brownviking,
Well done on getting your Melody Cruise. You can find out information on where people are going by going to the index page then selecting 'Who is going where and when. You will also find a Roll Call for your cruise date.
Cheers

Hi Brownviking and welcome to HT!

I have added you to the Who's Going Where thread where there is one other member going at the same time as yourself:

http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=110502#110502

I should be grateful if you could also add your details to the "I have a confirmed cruise" thread, stating how much you paid, here:

Thanks

After waiting patiently, but still closely watching this site, I have just had a similair offer to Carol's. R*** first asked if I had received any communication, then apologised and offered me a selection of deals :
1. Have a cruise as offered sometime in 2006
2. Have a cruise this year but share the cabin with an unknown person of same sex and age.
3. A weeks villa holiday in spain or portugal
4. A long haul flight to any destination (additional cost may be applied)
5. A cheque for £175 as an apology(forget the cruise)
Decisions, decisions, none of these offers appear to meet the offer originally made, anybody else having this dilema ??

Yes I have today, and am considering taking the cruise April/May and sharing with someone similar age, sex. I just fancy a cruise sooner rather than later and hopefully by the sounds of it everything including taxes etc are included. Someone is ringing me back today at 2.30 pm to ask my decision.

What did you decide.

Hi all,

Haven`t posted in this thread for a short while as my wife invoked a `Force Majeur`regarding unforseen DIY around the house.

Unfortunately, light breezes in the Southern California meant that my DIY had to be commuted to a game of golf in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

This was "over-booked" (Or as we call it, "cancelled") even though the golf course was empty!

Went to the garage on the way home and there was a £90 supplement on fuel, but managed to negotiate a deal whereby if I paid £10 per gallon, I could get 2 gallons for the price of one!! WOW!

Tried to `phone the missus about the DIY jobs not happening but her work number had an answer machine which said I will be `phoned in several weeks, so I don`t know where I stand.

Does this sound familiar to anyone??

Hi Jacko,

A cheque for £175 as an apology(forget the cruise)

I think this option is a new development......haven`t seen that one before.

Thanks for the post......at least they are still `phoning people, even if they are not still offering the original deal to everyone.

Hi MayB
Have'nt decided yet but they are calling back at 3pm :?: At least you have been given an approximate date for your cruise (is that a Med cruise), but I still dont feel I should weaken now, but should hold out for the original offer of a single cabin or nearer the D.E valuation of £1000 :?
After waiting for so long, I am not going to be rushed into a decision because they have finally replied to my 16 e-mails and calls, Hope you make the right choice for yourself

Hmmm......£1000 (Watchdog) > £175

I just wonder what we are going to hear next!!!

In the meantime, please keep on entertaining us Tony with your parallel universe! :D

Hi Tony :)

My only concern is that if their compensation dept. is as efficient as their bookings dept. the cheque may be out of date. :?

Don't forget a cheque is only valid for 6 years and 1 day

Hurrah- to-day is the day I am going to get my 21 day call back about my lovely cruise.
Very excited but need to nip out for the special offer whisky before it's all gone, what to do ?

The cleaning issue may be a man/boy thing. The sons don't know that the cupboard under the sink filled with a front row of cleaning stuff has a row of bottles and other contraband behind the Persil despite being students and able to sniff out drink from two miles. The cleaning products have two uses- the sight of them fills boys/students with horror and repulsion so they investigate no further and the smell of the products mask the smell of the drink. Chocolate and car keys can also be hidden there.
Send us a Timperley picture if you return

Sent e-mail at approx 12.15,call from Rise at 1.15,I am ecstatic, there is actually someone there. I have to expect a phone call in approx 5 days to sort out a cruise (I hope.......or will it be an altervative).Person spoke to very nice and apologetic, and gave me a phone number to call if I dont hear in 5 days. Things are on the up, so excited just to get a phone call never mind a cruise.!!!
