Hi
I can't believe I'm off on my cruise tomorrow. Thanks for all the good wishes and previous reports on the cruises.
To those who haven't got their cruise yet, don't give up. I found the DE freephone number very helpful in obtaining my cruise, and it didn't cost anything to me, only time.
Thanks to all on this site for the help it has given me and good luck to all still awaiting to go.
Vonmac
Thank you to the 2 people who advised me on what has happened, I have today written to DE and I look forward to their response. I hope you all have a good holiday. I myself am off to Spain for two weeks to live in a cave house, not exactly a cruise but I am supplied with a free club on arrival. See you all when I return and I look forward to hearing about the meeting. Dave
Good afternoon everyone I've not posted here for a while but like many of us i still have no word about my cruise still off on my hols next month, going toLos Angeles, Beverley Hills hope to see a lot of famous faces and also taking part in a Voice Over so maybe i will get my name on the big screen, when i return i hope to have some word about the cruise, nice to see those of you who have been have had a great time
I do wish the warmest wishes and goodwill to all who go before and of course to all those who are to follow.
I have just spent the last hour rubbing my King Dicks with 3 in 1 (you never know) :whoops.
Only 179 hours till we (Vivien, Chris & I - with Rumrat joining in Genoa) board the plane. So I have to do a 'Baldrick' and get a masterly plan worked out, how to get one of the Coven to iron my things (any ideas) No I do not pay (before someone mkes the suggestion).
Byeeeeee for now
Phil
Where did this this "freephone" number for the D.E. come from and how long has it been in operation
Byeeeeeeeeee for now
phil
p.s. What happened to the points Luci
Freephone number for Daily Express - 0800 376 8000. This is also in the Useful Links topic. I suggest you call that number and ask for the Marketing Department.
Have a wonderful cruise all you who are about to depart. Phil......Baldrick had a ..."fiendish and cunning plan" as I recall! But that aside you must be almost wetting yourself (sorry) with excitement,as you out of all of us certainly deserve the "cruise", having fearlessly taken on the enemy that was "r**e" and incurred not insignificant expense at doing so. My advice......hit the Captain's cocktail party early to get a decent seat,(chat up the staff) and just keep asking for more of the free flowing stuff. My cruise was fab'lus but I'm sure yours will be a hundred times better because you have worked sooooooo hard for it.
Just shows how much I watch telly, and how much notice I take - when did our Hughie finish on Saturday nights ? I used to love watching Andy Pandy; But most of all I loved weed "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
Night Night

Rag, Tag and Bobtail always did it for me Phil, although Picture Book was verrrry, verrry boring for a five year old!!!

Got back safe and sound. I am now back at work sitting in my ICT Suite, kids all working so decided to post a message.
To all future cruisers the week will be full of fun, food and drink, I only hope the company you have is as good as last week.
My only advice is to take a travel kettle, large bottle for water and proper tea bags.
I will post again soon, the kids are getting restless.
I am still waiting to be contacted by DE.
Telephoned DE this morning and got through to the marketing dept, they stated that they were still in discussion and would have an outcome in about a months time, but reading the message board it likes some of you have been on your cruise and had a great time, so could someone please confirm that you have had your cruise and that the infomation that DE marketing gave me this morning was incorrect.
Regards
Botoxman
Many members have indeed been on their cruise, although these were all confirmed when Rise Travel were administering the promotion. Since the Daily Express took charge of it a few months ago we haven't heard of a single person being confirmed on a cruise.
You can see how many people have been successful in the Who's Going Where/When topic at the top of this forum.

Had a fantastic time - great dining companions - and a tip top waiter who would 'surprise me' with a selection of desserts, thanks Luigi!
Phil, take heed of Juro's advice and get to the captain's gala party on Thursday early. We got there 5 minutes after opening and queued for 30 minutes whilst the photos were being taken with the captain. (Made up for the lack of drinking time by downing champagnes in double quick time!)
My cabin was excellent, twin beds, higher deck, NO ENGINE NOISE!! (....and 2 waste paper bins......)
Last week has changed my life - Terry will know what I mean.
A BIG BIG THANK YOU TO R**E AND DAILY EXPRESS.
i like th majic roundabout!!!!!!!!!it reminds me of how the d of e keeps everyonegoing round in circles and no one gets off to hear they have a cruise!!!!!i think it was dougal the hairy dog i liked!!!!!!!!
well phil not long tp wait now for your cruisecarol
Take note of what Jennie said, get to the Captain's party early, more free drinks!!!
Jennie, you might have to re-phrase your comment about me knowing about your life changing moment!!!
Also Jennie has a list of all the 'celebs' we saw on board.
Hi Jennie, due to go on my cruise soon, after reading all the posts im gettin very excited! What celebs were on board, hope I get a glimpse of a few.
Sitting on the chair is a bit sore at present, I took Luci's taking to task a bit too seriously (flagellation and all that ). (mind you even thats a bit painful - streches the skin).
Thanks a lot Terry and Jenniel for the tips re the Captains booze up i and the other members of the 'bunny hoppers 4' will take it on board esspecially 'Runrat'.
What was the 'life changing moment" referred to (we are friends here)
Hi Botoxman,
Many members and ex members (people who no longer spend half of their waking life on the site) have had crusies,
I got mine by going to Timperley (offices of Rise Travel) and not leaving until I got one, I did pay £150 (£140 extra) for a outside cabin on a date compatable to me, :pele
But, I got what I wanted. As someone who spent 27 years on Cruise Ships and Tankers as an Engineer I know the value of a £150 cruise. Many of the members have stuck out for the £10 cruise and have had one. Many of them have been to S. America (10hour flight etc..) for just £10 (that must be the steal of a life time - but good luck to them, I say)
I am sorry to go on a bit - but perhaps new members to the site need to know that we have been bashing away for a long period of time, (i used to be Methodist - now I'm a drunk, not an Alcholic (as I don't go to meetings) we have been offered cruises to Libya with a shipping line that did not do business with Rise (work that out).
We were offered vouchers for seemingly fantastic deals on mini cruises + air travel + free hotels with full board accomadation and so on - I have no idea of how many people, if any took up the vouchers offer and if they were satisfied with the deal that they got. On top off all this, the site (Holiday Truths) was told it faced prosecution - for what no-one was sure then or even now.
(Luci I have not been on topic for so long before Extra Points ? ps what happended to the points and how much was raised in the end I seem to have missed it - the ending I mean).
Night night for now time for some embercation
Phil
Jengrey, what do you mean
How can you glimpse any when you are NOT on 10th Oct CruiseWhat celebs were on board, hope I get a glimpse of a few.
:pele :pele :pele :pele :pele
I hope the line dancers are not with us
Phil
ps No Jailer so far (it could be a good night after all)
Richard Gere - not sure why he was working as a waiter but maybe he has fallen on hard times.
Roman Abramovitch - I'm sure he could have bought the ship rather than pay for a cabin.
Mr Bean's son, Robbie Williams, Phil Collins, Chrissie from Eastenders (rear view only).
That reminds me - hope you don't get taken ill on the cruise, Phil. You may not want to be treated by the ship's doctor!!
Jack Hawkins - thought he was long dead
Jack Nicholson - wheeling his mum around in a wheelchair
Uncle Fester - not sure if he survived the cruise.
Boycie from Only Fools and Horses
(...and Terry, I didn't mean to imply that you were my life changing experience.....)
I'll just have to keep the rest of you guessing about that.
