Hi,
Didn't Phil say he was staying over? I think he posted the name of a hotel where he could be reached a few pages back. I'm not sure though, with Phil you never know. It could have been The Hotel Midnight Express.
Night,night,

3 a self catering holiday for 1 week in spain or portugal with flights included from main airports only ie gatwick/manchester
4 a long haul flight to boston/new york/washington from maun airports only again

That was the deals offered.
I'm so miffed with the whole thing i took the £150 and i'll get myself a flight to cyprus, they can shove it.

Someone posted earlier that they had obtained a cruise after involving Trading standards. Any idea who that was as I can't find the post?

Thanks for updating us all on the offers............everyone has to do what they think is best for them. Glad you got something out of it at least.
If possible, would you mind letting us know if/when you receive the £150, then at least people who wish to take that option will have an idea how speedily they cough-up the dosh!
Cheers,

Thought I would update you on my situation. On Friday of last week I got a telephone call to say a representative had been trying to contact me. Couldn't get me (on the same telephone that the person who told me this was using!) so a card would be sent. Got the card on Monday which gave me the telephone number. Called and left message - representative on the telephone. No call. On Tuesday I called again. Got a call mid-afternoon to say I could have a cruise on 5th, 12th or 19th April with Island Cruises with a cost of £299 plus £20 supplement from Manchester. If on a two for one basis the cost would be £858. I went on to the Island Cruises website and found the cruise - surprise surprise £429 per person basic, £858 for two people. I wasn't getting a penny benefit, instead it looked as though I was having to meet the full cost myself! I couldn't get back to the representative - "all our operators are busy" so called on Wednesday morning. Told the rep again that my entitlement was a £10 cruise but again told "that's the price" so I said I would take it up with the DE. Called the DE (you know the name) but got the voice mail so sent an e-mail. No response but got a voice mail this morning to say that I could have the cruise for £229 from Gatwick. This leaves me with a supplement from Glasgow though the T & Cs stated Glasgow was a valid airport.
I can't see why I should have to pay this amount after fulfilling my side of the deal and have e-mailed the DE again on that basis. I await the outcome. It looks as though the current trend of offering up to £200 to go away is moving to me as well.
Sorry for the long post but a lot has happened.
Well I received two letters the same this morning, 2 days after the offer, had to sign one and send it back accepting the £150, will let you know if and when the cheque arrives.
first of all thankyou william for your help. i have managed to get to your photos and really enjoyed looking at them My don't you look dapper !!!! i also i like the amount you spent i think that's quite within my budget although i am with a different cruise line.
I too am beginning to fret about Phil. I do hope he has good news for us all. If not i think we should all go to that place and have a lock in with banners and the lot.Maybe we could advertise in the * Ex for anyone who applied and is still waiting to join us. Might be fun.
seriously i think phil should get back home about now so hopefully we will hear before long.I hope so anyway.

Ooh - that was quick! Not supposed to change your mind then???? Proof that things can be done quickly (depending on what the 'things' are I suspect!!). Sorry to read that you've had to accept the money but I can understand you're truly fed up with the whole situation.

I haven't actually had any written confirmation yet but Rise Travel have taken the £10 from my account so that's a start.
I have had enough of the games being played by the cruise company. They must know when you leave the house because you have had a call but the caller withheld callers number. Then the game starts trying to get them, you are put on hold, you can make a sandwich and a coffee and still be on hold then it clicks off, money down the drain ,if this is going to happen for the next two years then my answer phone wants binning. Back to the DAILY MAIL who have always delivered the goods. The fishing season starts next week so back to a normal life and if they want contact me they will have to search with spotter plane.
I had a telephone call from Rxxxx today saying that in about 6-8 weeks time I would be contacted by a rep. to discuss my cruise options. When asked what these would be, the person on the other end said she could not comment on this but an offer would be made of a cruise. When asked if it would be in 2005 the reply was that there were a few cruises available if I was prepared to share a twin cabin with a second person. Has anyone else had this option put to them?
A few have had the option put to them of sharing with a stranger in 2005.
Double up and cut the cost for our travel company
Were you not offered Spain, America, vouchers, dosh, a long weekend that Phil is on in Timperley
It may soon be 4 of us in a double cabin, doubling up indeed.

Whatever has happened, to the original offer,of a single cabin for everyone.
One has to be careful how one answers your question, but I suspect that nothing ever happened to the "single cabin for everyone" statement - because the single cabins probably never really existed in the first place!
I further suspect we all misinterpreded several "statements" which we read in trust ... as an "assurance" from a brand name that we might at one time have believed.
There are two questions here viz, "when is a statement actually a promise" and when is what looks like a "promise" really just a statement ... that means nothing?
I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that we've all just been had, but neither of our friends have the b*l*s to admit it!

Just one thought before bedtime; we could have probably chartered our own ship with the money we have spent on phone calls etc. and have sailed off into the sunset!!!
When offered my cruise no mention was made of sharing and I specifically clarified that I was getting single occupancy of a double cabin. I was offered a £50 upgrade from a grade 2 to grade 5 cabin but declined, but when the written confirmation arrived I am in grade 5 anyway.
I'm beginning to think that Phil was offered something - on the grounds that he kept quiet about it! Company's like **** seem to thrive on divide and rule tactics. Given how chatty Phil has been, his silence is deafening!
If I'm right and you're reading this Phil, well done!
SA
PS Am I hacked off with all this ... you bet I am! But R*** (when you read this) please don't think I'm giving up
