Hi Tony,
there are 3 lower grades:
2 Inside 2 lower beds
3 Outside two bunk beds
4 Outside 2 lower beds
All are cheaper than Cat.5 in the brochure!

Hi Magsy,

As you MAY be aware, I live in a brochure-free zone. :x :x

So I got a pretty good deal with a grade 5 then........did they change the designation after the refit by reversing the numerical order?

I was sure other people had the idea that grade 5 was steerage when we went through it the last time.

So grade 5 has what?......hot & cold running women and asses milk in the bath? Unlimited Champers?

Or just a bed with no bugs? :rofl Do I still have to take my sleeping bag to go on the bunk?

Oh Tony, do you mean to tell me you don't have a brochure? :rofl
Cat. 5 cabins are all on Bahamas Deck, painted grey! Bahamas deck is as low as you can get! But don't worry, the infirmary is only one deck up! You will be able to get a cure for bites there!

Magsy - don't want to split hairs, but I think outside with 2 lower beds is slightly dearer than category 5 (Inside 2 lower beds). Luckily we've not been allocated bunk beds!

Tony - there are 16 of these category 5 and it is called the 'Bahamas' deck. I believe that some are located next to the engine room so all you'll need are some good ear plugs. The good news is that it looks like it is only one deck up to the restaurant.

I wonder what sort of cabin those who are being asked to share with a stranger are being offered? Perhaps the bunk beds are being saved for them!

I stand corrected Alli, they ARE £10 dearer, wonder what the view is like!

Well that's handy - ship's doctor and infirmary right next to the restaurant........ does that mean something???

Tony - I have a spare brochure. If you'd like this send me pm. Like buses - I had none and then 3 came at once! I'll send it to the first person who contacts me!

To be honest Magsy, I don`t really care too much about the cabin..so long as there is one for me!

Only intend to sleep and change there....will be doing everything everywhere, on board or ashore, but not sitting in the cabin!

View from the engine room should be stimulating!

When I first started on the QE2, my cabin was right by the bow-thrusters (no it`s not rude!) and I was nearly blasted out of bed when they used them.

Engine noise?...........piece of cake!

Wooohhoooooooo!!!!

I`m getting a brochure, I`m getting a brochure...Nanee-nanee-na-na!!

Thanks Alli...................erm..............you won`t REALLY post my full address on the new "Members to assassinate" topic will you??

Still, it will be worth it for a brochuuuuuurrrre!

We don't need your address,we'll just order a cab from your website & get you to come to us!   I used to be a hit man for the TeleTubbies.

It's not the engine noise you have to watch out for. :rage

It's the crew in the cabins on the decks below us so you have the noise that they will be making :ghug (phnar phnar :love )

Anyway after a few shandy's you won't hear a thing :glynis :glynis :glynis

Just watch out for those pink elephants dancing around the cabin :pele :pele :pele :pele :pele (and the nightly visit from the bear who S**ts in your mouth while you sleep) :rofl :rofl :rofl
(sorry Luci if this offends anyone - you can edit if you need to)

Hi All

Several people have posted in the past that they don't want to spend time in their cabins apart from sleeping, changing etc - so engine noise etc doesn't matter. That's what I thought too, until I actually went on my first cruise (and it's been the same with subsequent ones). So much happens on the ship, there are so many interesting people to talk to, so many fascinating activities, so much brilliant entertainment, so much to see and do in port, etc etc that I've always found I need quiet time just to soak it all in and rediscover the art of breathing. Yes, much of the scenery is breathtaking, seeing foreign parts on tv is simply no substitute for seeing them up close and personal (as I suppose you know), and the passing scenery can take your breath away.

I've also found that the food is so very good that I eat more than I intend, which means I need to spend time in my cabin just recovering from feeling too full.

Sorry to dampen your hopes, but forewarned is forearmed (as they say.....).

Discuss............ :rofl

I don't know if their other ships are the same but on Lirica, you can switch on your TV in the morning and view what the weather is like up top - now that's handy! I haven't ever had this facility before and it can be annoying having to dash back to your stateroom for a jacket! Having said that, I expect the weather in the Med to be glorious in June!

TonyW, I was told that cat 2 was at either end of the deck and so the most noisy, cat 5 is in the middle and quieter. Like you I will only be in it to sleep amd change which is why I declined the upgrade.
Compared to some places I've slept it will be quiet and luxurious!

Hi Dogleap,
I'm with you on upgrades! I have only ever had an outside cabin once and it really wasn't worth the extra you pay in my opinion. I have never experienced any untoward noise down in the bowels of a ship, just slight vibration which you experience everywhere onboard! Now if I could afford a balcony stateroom that would be different!

Hi Pablo and welcome to HT!

Are you booked to sail on the Armonia via the Daily Express offer or did you book it independently?

Hi Pablo - nobody has been anywhere yet except William and he went with Thomsons. The Melody has had a recent re-fit so should be even better but don't know about Armonia.

Tony - you seem very worried about me posting your address ....I can see I have the upper hand here so unless you tell everyone why you want to reclaim your shed from your son (what do you want to hide in there + what is he doing in there, isn't he allowed in the house?) then you never know...........

Sorry if off topic here Luci but someone may have to share a cabin with Tony and they need to know. We may get on board to find we've all been double booked or something! These things happen.
