I too noticed this, and hope that they do get somewhere, and that they let us all know how they get on. Has anyone else gone down this route? I am thinking of doing so, but unsure whether it will bring any results as DE seem to be ignoring all efforts to contact them and wonder if it would be a complete waste of very my valuable money.

Im just back from my Nile cruise, it was very enjoyable. if any of you are thinking of doing a Nile cruise do because I dont think anyone would regret it it was truely amazing experience, the temples and tombs are fantastic certainly worth seeing.Sitting on top deck watching daily life along the Nile was like stepping back in time.
Not as grand as MSC Armonia a different kind of cruise all together. I was on Ms Magic 1 which was 5* Delux, not as we would expect but very nice with everything you could possibly need good food excellent service,the boat and the trips were run like clockwork. I will write a proper review in Nile link in due course.

On to my battle for my next £10 cruise now, seems everyones fired up again now were over Christmas and into 2006 with still no sign of anything happening,their approach of turning their phones to the same recorded message for months and not answering letters and emails is disgraceful.

Have initiated a court action. The court costs of £80 (so far) I had to pay up front but that also got added on to what I claimed from Express Newspapers. It can all be done online via http://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk

The papers were served by first class post and they have until mid february to respond.

Don't really want to give too much away in case they (1) decide to fight this one in particular with all they have to discourage others watching this thread (2) pay me off and insist on a confidentiality clause.

Obviously if I lose badly then I will post here so you may have to do some reading between the lines. Hope i don't seem too paranod.
The court action was for a fixed cost based on my estimation of what i would have to pay for my med cruise (previously offered) at the same time in June. There are a number of special offers which I have taken into acount (in the same way as the express must have been getting some sort of bulk buy discount) but the single room supplement has pushed that sum up.

Could you tell me Bedsdriver if you are claiming for a judgement or have you gone for a fixed cost claim? like you I'm looking to go along the same line ( am tiered of ) and it would be usefull to put my claim in against the same person as you have. I was originaly offered a Caribean cruse and will be claiming for the cost of the same. Any info would be gratefully received

Written on forum a few times but getting so frustrated with Daily Express. I have written letter to Daily Express to complain as Rise Travel advised me last year. Rang Daily Express about 4 times and spoke to some PR girl who said the Director was going to make a decision. However when you ring Daily Express now and asked to speak to someone about the Cruise Offer you get put thru to a recording saying that a decision will be made soon.

Got a horrible feeling nothing is going to be done and feel like I cant do anything about it!!

There is a web-site called blagger.com where you can voice complaints about organizations and companies. Yesterday somebody posted one about the Express and the cruise offer.

i am following the progress of the court actoin , i do hope you get some where.
there doesnt seem so many on the site at the moment i geuss some have given up or just waiting in the wings.it seems to have all gone on a long time.

Hi all, I'm so pleased to see that people are still fighting for the DE cruise. I too received a letter offering me a Caribbean cruise for Oct 05 then like many received a phone call to say they couldn't allocate due to hurricains etc etc... I had been offered alternatives (cash, algarve SC holiday) but refused stating I would wait until the Caribbean cruise became available. I had thought about giving up, but after reading all the posts here I have regained some hope. I too will now be fighting the fight.

Keep up the pressure on DE with letters,Email and telephone calls. Let them know we will not go away!!

I haven't been following the forum for some while, as I thought it had been closed down due to threatened legal action. Can Luci, the moderator, let me know if this was the case.

I am taking the Express to court, and am curious if others have been successful?

The original topic was removed over a year ago due to a threat of legal action.

This current topic was removed temporarily for the same reason, but I returned it after it was cleaned up of any potential libellous comments.

I am really gald that this is up and running again. I haven't made anymore contact with D/E since last year, and like one of the other members felt like giving up. I am interestd in finding out the steps I should take into taking Legal Action. So If anyone can advice me on the steps I should take, I would be very grateful. Can the other members who are taking Legal Action keep us posted please. Lets hope that this will make a differance

After trying to make contact with MKM and Rise, I was eventually told to direct queries to Express Newspapers as they had taken in back in-house. I did so, and wrote first to the general address, and after no reply, wrote to the proprietor, Richard Desomond, explaining the situation, and asking for a response within 10 days, otherwise I would take legal action. I didn't get a response, so initiated a claim in the small claims court, all done on line.

Express Newspapers are defending the claim, and so I have documented the whole saga, including items from BBC Watchdog, the Advertising Standards Authority, and quotes from this forum. I will keep you all posted as to how I get on.

Just a thought if we all sued it will cost the DE as much as it would to send us on our cruises, never mind the bad publicity.

Presumably there will be media interest if any of the legal action is successful. That will stir up interest again which can only be a good thing. I am sure that the DE are banking on more and more people giving up! Good Luck

Good Luck to those who are going ahead with legal action against the daily express.Have there been any comments at all from the person who did their advertising on the TV for them. I shan't mention her name but surely she might feel let down too.
How can the DE fight it surely they cant have a promotion splashed all over the front page of a newspaper and not honour it.
The people who had the cruise had a thoroughly great time eventually and I hope cruiseless are soon enjoying theirs.
