after reading all the complaints about excess baggage charges, i was seriously thinking of changing my holiday plans, i have to take a lot of medication and a nebuliser with me , i usually arrange this with the airline who allow be a few kilos extra, but i am still a bit aprehensive, so i did what someone on here suggested and emailed dalaman customer services, i was very surprised with the reply, they assured me that if i had arranged to take my medicines and nebuliser, they would certainly not charge me at all, that was a good reassurance, then came the surprise, they said to encourage me not to change my travel plans, if i emailed them with my return travel dates they would like to welcome me and my party to the executive departure lounge.
certainly was not expecting that.
someone must be taking notice of the excess baggage complaints, more people should tell the airport their concerns.

There's an extensive thread regarding Dalaman airport here where you'll find loads of information and experiences on this very issue. If you were over your allocated luggage allowance, then you shouldn't be surprised to be charged excess baggage. DLM is stricter on this issue, but they are only carrying out their work instruction from the airlines.

In your particular case, the transit of medical equipment and supplies is not included in 'excess baggage' as this is necassary equipment. It's when you turn up with a suitcase full or genuine fakes to take home where the problem lies.
