We did the 4 day/3 night Mumbai trip with Daytrippers a couple of weeks ago.

It was well organised.
The only problem you may have is actually booking it.
Apparently, it's sometimes difficult to get the train tickets and accommodation.

We tried to book in Feb 2007 but both the weekends were fully booked.
This year we went down to Daytrippers the day after we arrived and still couldn't get on the first weekend trip.
If you really want to book this trip I'd recommend that you email Eddie at Daytrippers and pre-book it.
You can get more information here:

but here's bit more, based on our experiences:

We were picked up from Candolim at 17:30 Friday evening for the overnight train from Thivim (near Mapusa) at 18:50.
There were only 7 of us on the tour.
Accommodation on the train is 3 tier air conditioned sleeper class, you get 2 sheets, a pillow and a blanket.
Don't expect privacy! We actually found it good fun. The train was very full.

You arrive in Mumbai around 06:30 in the morning and the Daytripper guy who looks after you throughout the tour from Candolim arranges a taxi to the hotel.
We stayed in the Sea Palace hotel on the seafront, just up from the Taj hotel.
Quick shower and a bit of breakfast and you're free for the day (Saturday).
We ate at Leopold's which is mentioned in the Lonely Planet, it was OK but you do need to get there quite early as it gets very busy.

If you get chance, pop into the lobby of both the old & new wings of the Taj hotel for a quick look.

The tour includes a city tour on Sunday morning lasting about 4.5 hours with a guide, after that we caught the boat over to Elephant Island.
There are a lot of steps up to the rock temples, so it may be difficult for someone not so good on their feet or who gets out of breath.
We returned on the 16:30 boat and got some lovely photos of the Taj hotel and Gateway of India in the setting sun.

We left the hotel Monday morning at about 06:15 for the 06:55 Mandovi Express back to Thivim.
The train was more than half empty, we had 8 sleeping berths between 2 of us.
We arrived back in Candolim about 19:30.
There's lots of buffet staff walking up & down the train with samosas (2 for 12 rps), chicken lollipops, bhajis, full meals and lots of drinks (no beers though).

A word of warning:
Beers are expensive in Mumbai because of the tax, you'll pay around 200 Rps for a large kingfisher.

We really enjoyed the trip.
