Dial A Rep

Bit sceptical myself about this one. For £ 3.00 per person I can not see them offering that great a service when it comes to them sorting your major problems out or medical assistance. What if you didn't like the hotel? Would they fight your corner? I personally think they will me more interesting in selling you excursions.

well i sort of agree with that, what service can someone expect for £3.00

Interesting stuff.... agree, what service can they provide?
I was thinking about offering my services but I cannot offer to go to our main town to sort out problems of any description for that price, or start making phone calls to the Uk to sort out people unhappy with what they have booked.
Have they, Dial a rep, got a website yet?

Some people are never happy with what they have booked - or have unrealistic expectations.

I just chill - however there are always queues of people wanting to complain.
In Greece - "My shower isn't attached to the wall".
In USA - no kettle - only a coffee maker.
In USA- "The airconditing blows cold air".
Anywhere- "My welcome meeting wasn't until the first morning - I didn't know what to do on the first night".

Visit destinationcare.com and it details what services they will provide, most of these are telephone based, however it does seem they might give personal service in extreme medical emergencies. Given the emergence of DIY and travel agents putting together packages - I think for 3 quid the provision of some local contact point even if they are not going to provide full rep service in the traditional sense is worthwhile.

I go DIY quite often (too areas not covered by this service unfortunatly) and it would be nice to think there might be some service I could fall back on should the worst happen.

Its the downside of DIY...what happens when something goes seriously wrong...you fall ill, have an accident etc. Disputes with the hotel I can handle myself.

An interesting aspect of the destination care website is that much of the material in their "resort guides" section seems to be almost directly copied from other websites.

This is easily provable by running sections of text through Google to see where it originated from.
It is also easy to determine who published the text first using sources such as the internet archive.

I know that at least some cases they have taken text from other websites without permission,
how do I know?

Simple, I know some of the businesses concerned and have spoken to them on this issue.

In fact a signiicant amount of their published material relating to Corfu is inaccurate, due to the fact that they are publishing details of businesses that closed years ago and the content never seems to get updated.

If this is an example of who they handle information, update records etc, who is now willing to use their services I wonder?
