If its like the rest of turkey no its not safe!!
Tips drive defensively, dont expect any one to use wing mirrors or to indicate- if they are indicating it usually means they have knocked it on by accident. always wait for two seconds after the traffic light has gone green so that you dont get the guy who has shot the red light and when you stop at a red light brace yourself because the one behind you will think that you are going to shoot it. Dont assume anything and keep on your gaurd.

Hi Winkey,

I agree with all of the above except Bryn forgot to mention the abundance of pothole that you have to avoid and beware of others avoiding. At the moment there is quite a lot of roadworks going on in Bodrum (good time for it!!!!!!) so that makes life even more difficult. At one of the main junctions between Gumbet and Bodrum, they have totally rebuilt the road, and it seems the need for the planting of palm trees is more urgent than the installation of trafic lights, so it is a case of 'go for it!'. Scary!
I really dont enjoy driving here, and I used to drive for a living - but dont let me put you off!
Happy motoring!

Hi
Drive like they dont know how to drive!!!!!
Red lights means three things!!! Stop!! Stop, but if nothing is coming then go!! Dont stop it is broken!!!

They will come on your side of the road!!
But, it is GREAT fun in Bodrum. We love it
