Hi thanks for the advice as I would not have thought on looking in a supermarket! I will have a look in.I wish Earplanes were abit cheaper they alot for something you wear for one trip,my swimming plugs were only £2.50. magicbreadcrumb xx
Hi I bought earplanes for me and was impressed they say use only twice ! bought Boots version for OH, they look just the same and say clean and re use and have a little case, also slightly cheaper !!!!!! so I have cleaned mine and reused and they worke,d just the same ! so save your money and reuse !
I use beconase nose spray which is excellent. I used to suffer terrible earache until my doctor recommended it. Karen
Hi,many thanks you two I will look at the boots own earplugs next week seeing that they cheaper and I have a nasal spray that I will use as I have one nostral constantly bunged up after been in a road accident last year,it helps clear it abit! xx
does anyone know anything good to take before/during flying? im going cuba and dont think ill manage 9 hours on a plane with my head feeling like its going to explode! i suffer greatly from it and dont want to be screaming in agony all the way there and back! i know the usual blowing nose/ sucking sweets etc but it doesnt really work for me! anyone know anything different?! xx
Hi lunar_angelic ... I have merged your enquiry with this existing 5 page topic, which should provide some useful info and advice.
I tend to suffer with a lot of sinus problems but usually do not get problems on a plane - I do use chewing gum which makes you chew more than perhaps sweets. On the few occasions that I have flown when my sinuses have been bad I have taken a decongestant which has always helped - they expand the airways.
My mum always says that she is better on a larger long haul plane rather than the usual smaller ones used for Europe - I assume that travelling to Cuba will be on a larger plane so you might find that better anyway.

Does anyone know how to avoid ear/sinus pain before flying me &my daughters have been quite bad before. I couldnt hear for an hour after landing..
Try eating boiled sweets works for some but not everyone.
The sweets dont work for me
Try menthol sweets or some with a good tang to them ,boiled sweets dont work for me but the menthol ones do.
I usually give the kids lollies to suck, chupa chups are good, but my eldest still suffers. Another trick is to hold your nose and blow or yawn.
You can get specific earplugs for flying. One brand are called "Airplanes" (I think) - I know that Boots sell them - have never tried them but some people seem to benefit from using them.
Have a look at this link plenty of advice in here.
