Hi,

I am hoping someone on here will have some knowledge to help me. As above post says, we have transferred out flight yet again for tomorrow, but I really can't see this going ahead according to the latest news.

So, I am wondering if we could re-book the whole holiday thats booked with Easyjet for the same hotel, length of stay for next month within the 30 days they say we can do. It says on our emails that have canceled the flights that we could either have full refund or ' change any directly related sector(s) within the same booking free of charge '.

Has anyone here done this or know if it's possible to do.

I could just take a refund & book it myself but it is dearer than we paid for this holiday.

Grateful for anyones advice. I realise we can't do any of this until they officially cancel tomorrows flight.

Thank you

Deb.

Not sure about flight plus hotel deals, but you can certainly re-book a cancelled flight and a corresponding return one free of charge. It doesn't matter whether the price is higher, you don't have to pay any more. This applies in normal circumstances, but I'm not sure whether it applies in the particular circumstances of this volcanic cloud/act of god.

Thanks roseweb,

we have had 3 flights transferred already & now have a 4th flight tomorrow - we shall see! I don't know, as you say whether this can be done for the whole thing.

Will have to wait now till they cancel tomorrows flight & ring them yet again. ( Calls have cost a fortune already :duh )

Thanks again.

Hi,

Has anyone managed to get through to Easyjet today at all. I have been trying since 9.30 this morning - very frustrated now!

I thinks it's disgusting that the only number you actually get a ring tone before hanging on is a 0871 no that cost 10p minute!!!! This has cost me a fortune, having 4 flights transferred isn't the problem, it's not being able to get through..... :duh

Have you tried the number quoted on SayNoTo0870? 0870 6000000 is quoted as cheaper than the 0871 number.

Oh Darren, I have tried every number there is, even the 65p minute no. I even went on live help but all he did was give me the same number I have been dialling all day then ended the chat!

I don't know what else to try. I called Gatwick to see if the Easyjet kiosk was manned as we would have driven down there, but it isn't!!

Just checking I've read the info on Easyjet's website correctly. If my flight Friday evening is cancelled and I go for the free transfer option and rebook for 2 weeks time, will I also be able to move the return leg booked for 4th May to 2 weeks later?

Hi,

Well I eventually got through later today. I was able to transfer my flight going out to 13th may returning on 22nd, which in turn gives me the whole 9 nights holiday that I had originally booked, so I would think that should be the same for you.

They also canceled the hotel for me with a refund promised, hence I have rebooked the hotel with another company.

The only thing is, you cannot transfer your flights until it says canceled on their website.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Hubby wants me to ring Easyjet tomorrow to ask for a refund on the flight so we can make other arrangements. I've explained that I can't do anyhting until the flight shows as cancelled on Easyjet's website. He reckons they won't tell us it's cancelled until we get to the airport, I've tried telling him that they've announced this evening that airspace is closed until 7pm tomorrow and if they do the same on Thursday, that'd mean we'd be able to find out whether our back up plan is viable (sail and rail belfast - Stranraer then train down to Peterborough).

We didn't go to the airport at all, I was checking the website constantly, they were changing the times every 6 hours so we had time to ring, when the 1st flight was canceled for thursday I rung & booked for fri, then sat then today, which was when we decided we would change the flight to next month - more chance of it being cleared by then ( I hope ). Also our 10 day holiday was getting shorter & shorter!!

It may be worth a try ringing them, but I'm not sure you would qualify for a free transfer of flight until they cancel the 1st one. If that makes sense!!!

I realise this leaves you short of time for re arranging your journey though.

Deb.

Sorry, just realised you said about getting a refund, not sure but I think same applies, has to be canceled first.

Deb, you have been an example to us all in what has been an awful situation with your patience unfortunately which no one could have predicted or done anything about this ash. I hope that you can relax now and look forward to your May holiday. well done.

Hi David,

There is no one to blame, it is nobodys fault just a freak of nature. Fortunately it was just hubby & I so no children or other families involved this time....we do go away as a group in june (hopefuly).

As others have said, we are at home safe & sound with the chance of rebooking for a later date, which we have done. Both of us are able to go to work this week & take time off later. I really feel for everyone who is stranded abroad with little money & nowhere to go.

Thank you for your post David, I can now take my eyes off the sky news & websites for a while!! ;) till may anyway!

Hi,
If we find our outward Easyjet flight is cancelled, can we just rebook this outward flight and return on the original return date as we are unable to stay any longer?

If we try to do this and then discover that the first available flight is more than say 3 days away, can we then go back and just cancel both journeys ? (The return flight might not be cancelled - so how do we stand? We can't go again until Winter)

Thanks for your help.

This all depends on how the flights were booked.

If you have a booking confirmation for the whole return trip with one reference code and it was done as one card payment then their contract is for a return trip. They cannot just say the outward leg is cancelled but you have to use the return (but might try anyway). If they say the outward leg is cancelled and offer an alternative that is acceptable that's fine but they are not liable for missed nights accomodation. If there is no suitable alternative ask for a full refund of both legs, but again they aren't liable for accomodation.

If the outward and returns were booked seperately with different booking references you get into a dodgy area. Technically that would be two contracts so it may need a bit of arguing.

If this was booked as a proper package the tour operator is responsible.

If our flight is cancelled on friday evening and I decide to travel next Friday instead, would Easyjet allow me to transfer the return flight booked for 4th May back a week as well so we can still have 11 days in England? Both flights are on the same booking.

Hi,

Just an update, as I posted last week we had our flights transferred 4 times in all, then decided to move it to May. Well, all credit to Easyjet, we had a full refund for the hotel & a refund for speedy boarding as it was full for our next flight (although it still appears on our booking!!) So I am a happy bunny, as long as the next flight IS booked, we didn't get a confirmation email but it is in My Easyjet booking so I hope everything is booked ;)

I did spend an awful lot of time trying to get through to them 4 days on the trot, but it seems to have come good. Hence, credit where credits due - Well done Easyjet.

We would have flown home today if we had been able to go - holiday over, now we are looking forward to it :tup

I hope it worked out ok for others.
