All I want to know is can we use our usual appliances e.g. hairdryers in Tunisia
I've got a plug adaptor so that the chargers for my video and digital camera's can be used - they're the manufacturers standard universal voltage convertors you get with this type of equipment should cope with anything between 110-240v AC.
What I don't know is whether we can take the wife's hairdryer etc. or do we need to purchase a 'travel' version? As I've got to get a travel kettle to sterilize water (long story, but its to do with our youngest child's medical condition), I would prefer to make only 1 trip into town!
We're leaving this Sunday so you can see I've planned! everything and left plenty of time !!!! :yikes:
Jim
With a continental-type 2 pin adaptor hairdryer, battery charger for the portable DVD and battery charger for the digital camera all worked for us
The standard two-pin adaptor works for everything out there. Incidentally, if you haven't already done so, don't forget to have the overseas 'barring' removed from your mobile before you leave - it will automatically switch over to a Tunisian provider when you land (usually Tunitel).
Thanks also Aslemma for your comment. Fortunately I've already got international roaming activated on my Orange contract - needed it when I recently visited the Isle of Man (its considered 'oversea's).
Regards
Jim
Sorry probably about to sound daft here..but by 'standard'.. do you mean a standard european 2 pin adapter? (i.e as used in Spain ect)...I have two pin adapters for Europe,US & Asia, thought maybe there was a different one for Africa? or can I use the European?
yes, the European 2 pin adaptor fits in Tunisia!
Lol...gonna be a pain again... I have 2..Southern europe and Northern Europe...take it will be the Southern?... sorry for asking but had an iron blow up once in Spain...........while I was holding it!.......lolol..ouch
hi were and wot kind of travel plugs do i need for tunisa???
The normal european ones - round two pin
Hi Karenpop - you will need the 2 pin round type and try to make sure that they have the little hole drilled in above the pins. A few years ago we replaced ours after giving it away with the kettle and on our return the new plug wouldn't work. After a lot of unladylike cursing I discovered that the offending plug didn't have the hole that the previous plugs obviously had! Do enjoy your holiday - it will be beautiful out there when you arrive - not too hot - just right! Jenny
much appricated......hahahahahahahahhahahaha..
not long now....really excited but scared too..all new to me...cheers,,,

You are having problems aren't you Karen! Aerosols etc. in suitcase and I usually put my hairdryer and iron in there as well. Digital camera I'm not sure but would think it would be OK in either. I've just re-opened my case to check on the plug - mine has a round hole on the back equi-distant from the prongs - I've got several of them and have never checked before but they've all worked. There is quite a bit on HT regarding duty free so I'm sure you will be able to find the info you want. I'm off at 5.30 a.m. so think I should really get to bed now! Hope you get yourself sorted out.
iam not use to it...normal hol in tourer in wales somewere...so no problems normally..... but iam a born panica....help...hehehehhe
I am a "pound shop" believer for adaptors and always get my ones in there and they do a good job.
Apart from ... straightening irons that is - those (apparently) need a "better" adaptor. Not sure what is the difference but the blow up the fuse in the cheap ones.
Found the hard way but hey.... who needs those on holidays
Hi, Can anyone tell me what type of plug sockects they have in Tunisia so I can buy the right adaptor. Thanks
hi to you..yespaulo....you use a two pin (round) plug ,.what we use to call a continental type,....regards..john-doe,.p.s. you can buy them as adaptors i.e english three pin (flat) that take two pin (round)
