Yes!

With a continental-type 2 pin adaptor hairdryer, battery charger for the portable DVD and battery charger for the digital camera all worked for us

The standard two-pin adaptor works for everything out there. Incidentally, if you haven't already done so, don't forget to have the overseas 'barring' removed from your mobile before you leave - it will automatically switch over to a Tunisian provider when you land (usually Tunitel).

Thanks Sancho for your comment - I've got he 2 pin adaptor so just need to pack the gear.

Thanks also Aslemma for your comment. Fortunately I've already got international roaming activated on my Orange contract - needed it when I recently visited the Isle of Man (its considered 'oversea's).

Regards
Jim

Sorry probably about to sound daft here..but by 'standard'.. do you mean a standard european 2 pin adapter? (i.e as used in Spain ect)...I have two pin adapters for Europe,US & Asia, thought maybe there was a different one for Africa? or can I use the European?

Hi Karenpop - you will need the 2 pin round type and try to make sure that they have the little hole drilled in above the pins. A few years ago we replaced ours after giving it away with the kettle and on our return the new plug wouldn't work. After a lot of unladylike cursing I discovered that the offending plug didn't have the hole that the previous plugs obviously had! :? Do enjoy your holiday - it will be beautiful out there when you arrive - not too hot - just right! Jenny

You are having problems aren't you Karen! Aerosols etc. in suitcase and I usually put my hairdryer and iron in there as well. Digital camera I'm not sure but would think it would be OK in either. I've just re-opened my case to check on the plug - mine has a round hole on the back equi-distant from the prongs - I've got several of them and have never checked before but they've all worked. There is quite a bit on HT regarding duty free so I'm sure you will be able to find the info you want. I'm off at 5.30 a.m. so think I should really get to bed now! Hope you get yourself sorted out.

Just a quick thing....

I am a "pound shop" believer for adaptors and always get my ones in there and they do a good job.

Apart from ... straightening irons that is - those (apparently) need a "better" adaptor. Not sure what is the difference but the blow up the fuse in the cheap ones.

Found the hard way but hey.... who needs those on holidays ;)
