Hi guys
I am spending 6 months camping round Europe from June this year. Done very minimal camping in the past - the odd weekend here or there.
We will driving round in a van and then setting up camp sometimes for 1 night and sometimes for several nights depending where we are.
I am not great at living out of a bag or in confined spaces but obviously will have to learn to do so very quickly! The van will be kitted out with plenty of storage and in a way that we could sleep in it if we had to but wont be a proper camper in that wont have kitchen/toilet/shower etc so will be in the tent mostly, for sleeping and cooking will be done outside on our camping stove etc
Any tips or advice on anything at all- like things we might forget or not have considered. Any equipment that you have discovered has come in useful. Please cast your minds back to when you first discovered the joys of camping and what lessons you learned the hard way and pass them on please.
Many thanks
Sian and Doug
I would get one of those cool boxes you can plug into a cigarette lighter or even better a caravan fridge it is hard to manage without in these days of e-coli etc. and cheaper to be able to keep open packets without wasting food you can often get bags of ice or maybe some places will still freeze freezer packs for you, not sure we have had a caravan for 25 years I can manage without all the other luxeries but not a fridge !

Ditch the van get a cheap camper off eBay you will find it works out much better than camping as the French do what they call Camping Car Aires in a BIG way there are thousands of places many in the centre of villages where a motorhome can pull up for the night there's a map somewhere on the web but didn't keep the addy as we use a caravan and they can't use the aires but I do have the Autoroute pushpins for the 2003 version of Autoroute
