Is this pre-booking seating included for the star class service as I would hate to be split up from the wife during our forthcoming flight to Aruba.

sharon7 / Mark,

Pre-booking of seats is at extra cost, £20 per person I'm afraid. The way I understand it, seating is allocated a couple of days before the flight is due to depart so when you check-in, it's all sorterd and you can't moved seats (I've tried, and failed!)

Morning, I am are anxious about our seating as we are booked into the premium seats when flying to dalaman. I think this is only 4 rows of 3+3 seats so i feel more chance of being split up (2ad 2ch), especially as we have only recently booked. The flight still has 4 premium outbound and 2 premium inbound ( i think) so hopefully we will be seated 3+1 across the aisle.

Hi Darren, could you please confirm where my outbound flight will be coming from before it takes us to Dalaman on FC534. Also any idea on the films on the plane, although not going until the beginning of august. Are the TV's for the first row on the partiton infront ? Thanks

Thanks Darren

I think £40 is too much to pay. Its cheeky how they use these ways to charge more money!

Have a good weekend x

tracytreacle1,

Does the premium package not include pre-booked seating? I'm sure they'll give you 3+1, I wouldn't worry. The inbound flight for FCA534 is FCA337C/D. I think that's the Lanzarote flight.

Can anyone tell me how much fc charge for extra leg room seats on a to Bodrum from Manchester.
We have a night time flight in September and thought it might be more comfortable.
Thanks in advance.

Whilst I do not disagree it is cheeky to get customers to pay extra to sit together on charter airlines, I do prefer this system as it means the people who it is important the get to sit together get this option, pretty much 99% guaranteed.

I have travelled many times on scheduled services, both domestic, short haul and long haul where I have been split up even after prerequesting online or trying to check in sometimes upto 5 hours early(Miami airport is my idea of hell on earth)

I know prepaying/selecting your seats onboard charter flights is still not perfect(never will be) I know from experience. But flights we operate for cruise companies are seated very similar to Scheduled airlines and the amount of complaints from the people unable to get to the airport 4 hours plus before departure rockets through the roof compared to our holiday charter flights.

It changes every two months, May-June,July-August, Sep-Oct etc...

So will 30/06/08 out be Junes or Julys and 01/07/08 in be June or Julys would guess they will both be June.

Correct, although this is only usually the case with eastern destinations such as Maldives, Sri Lanka or Mombassa, as their take off times are predominantly evening timeslots.

Occasionally this may happen to a caribbean destination after it lands in the UK on the 1st of the new month depending how many other faults the engineers(their the ones who have to upload the new movies onto the onboard hard drives) have to fix- IFE plays 2nd fiddle over safety.

I had my worst fears confirmed when I flew Manchester - Cancun on 15th June. My husband and I were seated one behind the other in SCP and proceeded on a 10 hour flight to pass our 5 month old daughter back and forth between us and annoy the 2 couples we were both sat next to. I know it says in the T&C's that when you pay for seating together you could be one behind the other but it is not exactly a good description of seating together in my opinion. Luckily we got seats next to each other coming home but I really don't think I will be using First Choice again until you are able to actually select the seat you wish to sit in.

The last post quite worries me as we - too - are flying First Choice in the very near future.

Is it not possible to request seats next to each other rather than behind or across the aisles?

Would it help to check in early instead?

Mark :)

Seating is pre-allocated a couple of days before the flight is due to depart by a software programme that allocates seating on a best fit basis. Priority is given to those who have pre-booked seating together (that's what you pay for). Because of the very nature of the seating configuration on aircraft, it's inevitable that some passengers won't get adjacent seats and be across an isle or behind each other. With this system, checking-in earlier doesn't make a difference as seating is already decided and the check-in agent can't change things.

The post worries me too as I am flying long haul with FCA later this year. I tried to get round this by booking exit seats but these were already booked. I believe that the seating plan is sorted a few days before the flights to getting there early won't make any difference. I prefer to fly with Thomas Cook as you can select the actual seats (albeit at a charge). I feel so sorry for the poster who flew with her husband and baby in separate rows despite paying what was probably in excess of £500 to sit in SCP!
