Cheers Tokmak! This is a very late booking and we will be there on Friday so I have a couple of shops to point me in the right direction!

Any anglers reading ...please post up as I would prefer to bring tackle out with me rather than buy even more when I get out there!

Phil,

Are you going for Easter.

Lots of Giant mullet in Netsel Marina and if the water has warmed up they should be there.

Saying that it will be warmer now than our coast in summer.

Lots of small fish everywhere and I use a small telescopic like a coarse one which is really wippy so use coarse size 10-12 hooks whch are ideal for the small stuff as well as the mullet.

Lines 8ib main line and 4-6lb bottoms.

John,
We are going for Easter Fri to Fri staying in the Pinetta Park Deluxe.( Genearlly good reviews with the odd bad one). Do you know anything about it? Thanks for the fishing info. I will bring along my mulleting gear and a few odds and sods to try out!

Phil,

Take some sliced bread from uk and split it up in the cases and when you get there freeze what you want and keep a few slices to use each day.

Turkish bread is not like our sliced and the mullet will take from the top if its quiet.

At least 8 tackle shops around the bazzar and the marina.

Hi Philh,
Pinetta deluxe is grand you should be well looked after. You only need bread for fishing and light tackle. bread here costs 30 korus a loaf and will last you all day. The locals use a hand line with a string of 10 hooks on. Theywrap the line and hooks around a lump of bread, whirl it around their heads like a hammer thrower and send it streaming into the sea. Its like ledgering with a handline!
You can get boat trips to go out into the bay fishing and they will provide all the kit.
Travel light and use alot of sun cream...... Tight lines!

There is one just heading into the bazzarre from the Marina end and another by the traffic lights up from the Puppy bar on the main road.

Hope this helps.

There are two or three at least in the bazaar area of marmaris, but i'm sure I have read a post saying there are at lest 7 shops in Marmaris selling fishing tackle. :D

Yes there are about half a dozen shops around the harbour area in Marmaris that specialise in good fishing tackle but the other ones I have seen around the resort seem to cater for the visiting tourist with inferior rods and reels.

The likes of Shimano tackle is as expensive as in the UK but there are some bits of unknown named tackle which is excellent quality and I will be buying another telescopic rod when I arrive.

So are u actually allowed to :fish in the resorts without licences then, as a regular angler in the uk, iv never tried fishing in turkey,i did do a bit in zante one year with my daughter but never actually caught anything.
What would be the best bait and what would i expect to catch.I know there are some quite large fish in the marina in marmaris, saw them the other year,
couldnt quite make out as to what they were though, suspect mackerel . .Cheers.

TYhose big fish that you see swimming in shoals from off the bridge at the entrance to the Netsel marina are mullet and they are massive.

You don't need a license for fishing in the sea and light telescopics not like the beachcaster type is whats needed.

6lb line is plenty as size 10 or smaller hooks and then bait with bread but play them gently if you hook one as they have really soft mouths.

Another tip is if you can see them then they can see you so will not feed and early morning is the best before too many people are about.

You can buy nice little telescopics if you know where to look in the harbour area for about £10-£20 and they pack away to about a foot long and a 8ft very thin rod is adeal for those mullet.

Give me a shout when you arrive and I will take you to the shop.
