and is there any good boad trips to go on (not fishing trips)
I took my two lads on an evening trip on "Taffys" boat and he/they never had a clue and everyone complained about the 4 hour boat trip being really 30 minutes fishing then 3.5 hours trying to drag another boat from a sandbank.
We used to fish of the groins that went out to sea and a few times we did hook something big only to lose it on the rocks but hey 2 cokes a beer and sitting on the dock of the bay with your kids who needs the fish.

Just back from Altinkum this morning, after the first week of furnishing our apartment , i was glad to sit along from the pier at altinkum my 8 year old son and i with our telescopic rod a bag of live bait bought for pennys from the fishing shop behind the pier and a couple of efes, each time we went we caught fish dont know the names of the species their but they were about between 5inches to 8inches long not monsters but good fun and very relaxing and their is always plenty of locals with good advice. Good luck.Simon.
Anyone know if the Fishings any good around Olu Deniz?
same question, but for marmaris. is it poss to hire a boat for the day,if so aproximately how much would it be
In marmaris the boat is about £70 a day , sorry dont know how many people you can get on. They supply lunch and tackle etc. Or for a bit of fun, buy some bread and a handline( total 5 YTL) and fish near the marina.
If you are lucky enough to catch a fish are there any to be wary of. ie stings or spines.
yes there are. A little sod they call stone fish. Its got a couple of nasty spikes. its a good point, always be wary of what you catch.
does anyone know if you can fish near the lagoon ? - probably not allowed is it? It wouldnt surprise me If one of the turkish guys could easily fix you up with some fishing. They can fix anything up - one phonecall and it will be sorted and at a cheap price at that.

Vic whatever the guys do/sell in Marmaris you can be sure will be on offer in olu or something similar .
Thanks for the info guys.
vic, I watched the local boys fishing with good results, they had a line with many hooks wrapped around and around a bread roll ,they threw it out and the water boiled with fish all snapping at the bread in such a frenzy that with so many hooks and so many fish they caught quite a few, so forget the little pinch of bread on one hook.. WAKI..
Cleveeeer...we learn something everyday Waki
Hi all, my kid wants to take a rod with him to the pegasos tropical in sept.
bread is what the locals use.. but JT swears by chicken! I have yet to see him catch anything though!!!!! There are sea bass and sea bream in abundance here and make excellent eating.
When at our villa , my boy digs up the little worms at the shoreline. He is quite successful. Also, little shrimps make good bait which he gets from the beach bar!
Cheers
Lorraine

I'm visiting Marmaris in June for two weeks staying at The Keskin Hotel, during my holiday I intend to do some fishing however where fishing is concerned I am a complete novice. Could anyone offer some advice as to fishing in Marmaris & tell me what type of rod/bait/hooks etc. I will need. Thanks in advance
we have bought up in gumusluk and he is a very keen angler.
Or will he be best off with a telescopic ..as i have been reading, in the sea?
Thanks
Tina
