Going to Prague this year from Glasgow, and went to look at Flyglobespan for prices (i used them 3 years ago to go) and noticed it only gives prices up till March, so i looked at timetable and nothing on it about glasgow to Prague.

so i called customers services and they ares topping the glasgow - Prague route after March :(

typical the year i want to go back as well

looked at jet2.com from Edinburgh, but just going to fly to london night before and stay with bf and we can fly out together

just a quick question regarding my holiday in september ...might not be able to go due to hubbys work commitments..but does anyone know if i can sell my flights on as it is ticketless...would rather someone got them for what i paid than the prices they are charging now.

Hi audbod ... you would be able to change the names on the booking for a fee of between £38 and £80 per person, depending on destination and whether the amendment is made online or by phone. In addition to those fees, any difference in the air fare between the date booked and the date changed would also have to be paid.

More info in Flyglobespan T&Cs.

caz1969 - yeah the GLA service to Prague is again being withdrawn for the summer 08. Looks as if its only going to be service during the winter only.

Glasgow yet again fails to maintain services - only two years ago both Globespan and CSA (Czech Airlines) had daily connections to Prague. Novelity wore off I guess - still there remains oodles of flight to the delights of London - ho hum! :(

Nivsy - Couldn't believe it when I saw they wont be doing direct flights. As you say Glasgow always miss out on direct flights

Iv booked to fly with British Airways to London city night before I go,(as if i go morning of prague id need to get up at 3am with easyjet) then its Stansted to Prague, and on way home its easyjet stansted to Glasgow.

worth it though as going to surprise a mate on her wedding day :)

Food onboard? I have booked to go to Gran Canaria 15th March for a week - I went on to fly globespans web page to see if I could pre-book meals, and I can, however we leave early in the morning going out, and its things like chicken/pasta - no hot breakfast! Dont fancy this in the morning so didnt book it! Anyone know if you get a hot breakfast on board, and how to book it? Thanks.

Julieross, they bring the trolley round and you buy sandwiches, cuppasoups, or snack box with crackers and cheese in them. Nothing very exiting. You cant booK ahead I'm afraid.

Hi Jade .. there is a pre-bookable meals option on some Flyglobespan routes, click here for more info.

Well done Globespan, you have managed to con us again!!!

Brilliant flight times advertised from Edinburgh to Paphos but once booked, just as last year, the inevitable e-mail arrives to say the flight times have been changed to - guess what - the usual :swear flight times they always have into Paphos. That is arriving 1.30 a.m. and leaving at 02.15 a.m. :rage :rage They did the same to us last year.

Although I have no proof, I suspect that the so called good flight times as advertised never did exist and that Globespan knew that the only slot they have ever had to Paphos is the one they have reverted to now.

I feel totally 'had' but what is also annoying that they are the only airline with reasonable prices and, therefore, we don't have a lot of choice - and they know that. About time there was some decent competition to this destination from Scotland. :banghead:

Re the above (flight to Paphos in August) - I have the feeling that we have been well and truly sucked in by the fact that the flight times advertised were so good and then when booked it suddenly all changes. :rage Does anyone else out there feel as I do about this and can anybody advise whether we have any comeback on the company or does their small print make them bulletproof.

I would be glad to here from others in the same position

would suggest that the small print basically let Globespan change flight timings as they please, other airlines I would assume will also have this safeguard written into there terms and conditions.
Does anyone else think that the new Ryan Air flights from Edinburgh will see the demise of Globespan from this base or at least a serious cutback in service. I am not a great fan of Ryan Air and think that they will carve up the market with cheap prices untill they see of any competition then once they have basically a monopoly there prices will rise and standards slip. :yikes

Flem - suppose it depends on what you mean by standards........GSM have not really had a good 2007 as we all know - especially long haul. It is an interesting question you raise though. I think Glopespan will be a little annoyed that Ryanair has stepped into the Edinburgh arena with a major expansion although to be honest I think Ryanair probably have never viewed GSM as a major competitor ever to their operations and probably will not be that bothered at all to what Globespan do.

Agree to an extent Nivsy that longhaul GSM has been a disaster but it is the shorthaul routes that Ryanair are going into direct competition with GSM with, and personally I think that GSM do a really good job on there shorthaul flights. Dont think GSM will ever be able to match Ryanairs prices due to there size and spending power and I fear for the future of the daily Alicante and Palma flights that GSM operate out of Edinburgh which would be a shame because personally I like prefer flying GSM shorthaul over Ryanair.
As I said in previous posts GSM brought to Scotland what it had been needing for a long time a low cost carrier which to all purposes was geared towards the Scottish traveller, I hoped it would go from strength to strength but I can see Ryanair shifting them out of at least some of there profitable Edinburgh flights. In short i think Scotland needs a strong and successful Globespan more than ryanair who see,s us as just another place to make money.

Am raging! :rage Just looked on globespan web page to double check my flight times to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria on 15th March, and see they have been changed - means we will be arriving back home at 11 o clock at night with a 4 year old - nightmare. If i'd have known that I wouldnt have booked it in the first place!

Extremely strong rumour doing the rounds that Flyglobespan have been taken over by BMI, anyone heard anything ?

I have also heard of the "rumour" and trying hard to get any type of confirmation. Strange how it kinda came out of the blue...what u think? Credence?

Think there is defo something up, if not Flyglobespan will have to say something soon to quash the storey which is spreading fast. PR is not there strongest attribute by a long way though. :que
