As was suggested by nivsy on Friday, it has now been confirmed that the CAA has lifted the suspension of Flyglobespan's ETOPS licence.

Restoration of ETOPS has so far attracted significantly less media coverage than the suspension did two weeks ago.

Hi,
We flew Glasgow-Alicante return on a spotless Boeing 737-800 series, the crews were very professional and friendly, and the food was typical pay as you eat airline stuff.
We were delayed about an hour on the way back, but we made up 15 minutes of that, landing 40 minutes late, not too bad.
This is the second time we have flown with them this year without any mishap, so a wee pat on the back for FlyGlobespan. :D

Speaking of the Glasgow-Alicante service, I understand that some passengers are now being contacted to inform them of revised routes, timings and durations for their flights. I believe that from late November through to early February, the Tuesday & Thursday flights will be operating via Edinburgh. This schedule change is for "operational reasons" and is covered in their Terms & Conditions.

In case other routes are also affected over the winter months, it may be worth passengers logging on to their bookings regularly to check for any schedule changes, which might impact on other arrangements such as pre-arranged travel to and from airports, number of nights in accommodation, etc.

Changes such as this are not unusual for Flyglobespan during the winter period, nor are they unique to Flyglobespan. Other airlines may also consolidate flights for operational reasons, such as poor load factors.

Notice todays flight to Sanford has a Bangor Maine stop, Have Globespan stopped using &^&'s on this route or is it just a for the winter schedule.

Assume you mean 767s?!?! hehe

Anyway its supposed to be 757s for the winter, which sometimes need a stop. Also some 737s which definately need a stop. But this is supposed to be winter only, back to direct 767s next summer. But this is flyglobespan, anything can, and probably will change!

By this time on Tuesday FG will have paid off half of their Scottish cabin crew.
They do not want to give the girls and boys full time contracts.

They should not be allowed to mess people about

So no different to any other low cost/charter airline in the UK? TCX,FCA,TOM, MYT all use this practice GSM are do not have a brilliant reputation however I dont see how you can attack them for doing something that every one of their peers does.

Probably this line of discussion is not really for a Holiday Truth forum? Anyways I think it was not so much the reductions in staff for winter schedules etc - but it was the manner on how this was carried out.

Have the NEOS 767's been returned and are GSM now operating their own 3 767's or do they remain on lease (I should know this but dont!!)

nivsy,

I think the Neos aircraft have gone back. I know EI-DOM is now working for KD Avia and EI-DOF isn't showing on GSM flight codes. G-CEOD/FG are still showing up with Air India flight codes, but odd GSM. G-CDPT looks like its back operating GSM flights. It operated GSM725 yesterday.

G-CEOD certainly operated Air India flights in to and out of Heathrow on Friday.

I contacted Globespan customer services about why I could not select my seat online and was told that they are using there own and NEOS next year for Sanford and dont know which for each flight yet, hence they cant put the plan up, so looks like they will be using the NEOS in some capacity next season.

i got the same answer when i phoned about the seating plan on the belfast - orlando flight in june 08. the lady said that they hadnt confirmed what aircraft they were using yet but it would be more than likely a 767.is that good news or bad news...anyone any info im not to informed when it comes to knowing about planes..lol.plus iv read alot of bad reports or have these multitude of problems been ironed out?

Its good news, the 767 is a good aircraft for the transatlantic flight, It is wide bodied capable of a non stop flight, although Globespan have had a extremely troubled with their long haul flights the Sanford flights havn't fared to badly, this could however be because of there use of the subcontracted NEOS 767 which on the whole seems to have been fine.

Would be upset if the aircraft used was anything smaller than a 767

cheers for the info, fingers crossed that it is the 767 then, lol,i could only imagine my fathers reaction if we had the same nightmare experience as others have had....needless to say heads would roll.should know around dec/jan time(thats when the girl said the seating plan should be available).

Was told December time as well, Dont worry you will be fine I have used Globespan a few times and found them excellent, I find people are quick to talk about their bad experiences but not so quick about the good ones, Been told that there Belfast flights are doing well so they must be doing something right there. Have a great time when you get there.

ah no worries, thanx again for the info, u have a great time too. :D

Just a quick thought, can anyone tell me if Globespan have a supply of visa waiver forms for filling in onboard for their Sanford flights, all the package airlines I have been on have had these so hopefully Globespan will as well, can anyone tell me?

Most likely they will charge you for them!! Joke - I'll get my coat......leave quietly. :whoops

They should have them on board yes.

On another GSM note - I see that the B757 remains at Lasham to get "fixed". Probably will be there until January now. I have lost the plot on the B767 position - which i think all remain leased out - so any "pond crossing" in the coming weeks will no doubt be by the B737.

I really hope GSM sort out 2008 to the benefit of their customers.

Well there seat plans are now available to about May so someone should be able to confirm (or not) that the summer runs will be on the 767.
