Hi Slainte73.
We use the executive suites/lounges at the North Terminal and although they don't expect you to wear your best suit, you are at least expected to wear smart, clean, casual clothes. I have seen people wearing football shirts and/or shorts refused entry. I don't know about combat/cargo type trousers; perhaps if you go onto the Gatwick website where there are details about the lounges, you may get your answer.
Sheila.
p.s. I don't know if I would wear shorts on a plane as the air conditioning on planes can make the journey very uncomfortable, but then again I am probably older than you and never go out without wearing a vest (even in Summer)
Can anyone tell me what the prices are like at the food outlets at Gatwick North Terminal. I see that they have a Wetherspoons and a Mcdonalds. Any advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Bauloprincess.
The Wetherspoons is more expensive than local unit's I think a big breakfast was about £7.50 but that is a guesstimate so expect Mc Donalds to be more expensive as all the outlets on airports play to a captive audience.
Thanks for the info Dave. Much appreciated.
Transited through Gatwick for the first time in years last Sunday. Border control is a real war zone - a real let down to the image of Britain - with an uncontrolled mass of arrivals, poorly signed as regards to which passports are being checked and where, and no air conditioning. Herded cattle come to mind. And we complain about entering the US, particularly at JFK ................... we are no better than they are.
Also border control and customs staff are now integrated and there is a lot of new job training going on and they are also having problems recruiting staff ( a reason for the big queues ). the real letdown to the image of Britain is the interference and meddling of .... well we know who !!!!
hi does any one know if they are screening at gatwick for swine flu like ba and virgin isnt it something to do with body temp? i am panicking a little as just over 3 weeks till i fly with my family and i am quite a nervous flyer i have high bp anyway which i take meds for but usually the jitters get me before flying my heart races along with my pulse and my temp goes up does this mean you could be pulled over ?????????? just probably going into overdrive for panic but am so worried dont want to catch it and dont want to be told cant fly been looking forward to this hol for ages
Moved from Caribbean forum.
I am flying from Gatwick with my son ( 12 )
We fly from the South Terminal to Cyprus but i booked the Sofitel which i am sure is North terminal as when we went to Cyprus last year it was from the North terminal ????
Just a quick Question, Are there place to eat in the South terminal as there are in the North b4 you go through to departures ?
We will eat in the airport the evening b4 our flight.
Thanks in advance x
Hi Kat - take a look at this
Here is Gatwick Airport website. With more info for you.
http://www.gatwickairport.com/portal/page/Gatwick%5EGeneral%5EShop,+eat,+relax+and+enjoy%5EEat/
Angie.
Both sites great and lots of places to chose from to eat. We will be having breakfast at the hotel the morning we fly but my son would rather have junk than something from the hotel the night before x
From the beginning of September, the gatwick terminal train shuttle will be undergoing renwal until mid 2010, so from september the way to transfer will be by bus :-(
Anyone had any experience of these hotels at Gatwick?
We normally use a b&b at Gatwick but was just curious!
Pippa
but next year have booked a 17 day hol how much should we expect to pay for parking
also where is the best place to park
thanks
pat
quite a lot of hotels offer a parking package but usually these are for 15 days. i think your best bet is to try http://www.holidayextras.co.uk as they have various parking packages and hotel/parking packages and they are one of the cheapest/best value around and you will get a good guide of what to expect to pay, you can also phone one of their advisors as they could sort out the best deal for 17 days. also try baa.com as they own gatwick and offer parking.
thnks andy will look later
I can recommend APH at Gatwick. They are a 15 minute transfer but are excellent and very reliable . you park your car up at reception ,hand in your keys and watch them move it to the parking bays . On your return you collect your keys and car is waiting again outside reception.
You can get a good deal by following this link . http://www.aph.com/offers . It's a discount link for existing customers but anyone can use it . Think I paid around £60 for 15 nights over july/Aug peak time recently and booked just over a month in advance to get a slightly better deal .
I agree with Andy re holiday extras and BAA . I find them the cheapest when getting a wider selection of prices and you can get cashback via quidco with holiday extras
lyn
does anyone know if we can book 17days parking and hotel but only use hotel on return
