Gramps/Alan totally agree with you but we all know the tourists money goes to the wealthy investors not the poor and Goan people or improving facilities for tourists - I think we have to make the most of it while it survives and hopefully when something major goes wrong those with feint heart will leave it to those who truly love it

Lyn, that's well said, I know for one I shall not be one of the faint hearted.

This isn't scaremongering, simply facts.
Hmm, I think you'll find that the Goa returners, are made of sterner stuff.

I could quote some 'facts' from the WHO (No, not some band), but.....

Love it as much as you want but if a serious outbreak of Typhoid happened you would really hang in there!

Haven't you had your vaccinations?? LOL :bow

Let's just sum it up and say that most parts of Thailand are by far cleaner than Goa.

Sorry that was meant to be a light hearted banter - didn't mean to offend anyone

Yes. I've been vaccinated against it, not saying that will prevent it but, the chances of me catching it are not that great as I take all precautions to prevent that happening. The same could be said of the malaria threat, you go back through the posts on this site and see how many people never take the precaution of taking malaria tablets when in Goa, when you consider as the warnings say "it only takes one bite" but does that stop them, no it doesn't :!: Concidering you seem to have so much trouble with your visits to Goa in one way or another, why do you bother going there :?:

Looked like a good place to go in Winter but it's looking like Thailand, Kerala or somewhere different or quieter.

I have just been well and truly pampered in Thailand staying in a 5 star lagoon suite with every possible luxury there is, it truly was creme de la creme and the buffet breakfast was to die for, the infinity pool superb.

I stayed in the silver sands in Candolim last year - I nearly died when I saw the basic room, spartan was an understatement, only bothered with the luminous jam on toast on the 1st day, and we slept in the smallest 'double bed' I have ever seen.

But somehow Goa wins , it is the one place on earth where I wake up with a smile on my face every morning, and I shed a tear when it is time to leave, in a nutshell I love it, bring on March 2008 :)

Shirley how very true, no matter how many faults Goa has, it has something that will always draw you back, it's so difficult to put into words exactly but, I hope Goa never loses that appeal :D

"Them" places do have problems but since they are considerably bigger it is easier to find some space. I feel Goa with all it's new found fame as a top tourist destination has not 'put it's money where it's mouth is' in the last 10 years.

For the size of Goa it's becoming overcrowded (apart from most of the South). I'm keen to find out where all those tourists who abandoned Goa in the last few years are going now. Obviously this isn't the place to find them.

Your very right, maybe in another part of the forum you will find all the tourists who abandoned Goa all those years ago, I know I wont be abandoning Goa for many years to come, I like her just the way she is

I'm glad you are still enjoying the experience. Let's hope it doesn't change so much in the next 10 years.

I'm sure it wont, and if it does, that wont stop me going back to where I love being. :D
