it's only a matter of time before some serious health problem surfaces
Gramps, you hit it exactly. My health problem was not isolated, I spoke to more people (long timers) in the last few years who had got more than 'Delhi Belly'. The Doctor that treated me even said that this was on the increase. A lot of incomers are working in kitchens/prep areas with no regard to hygene.
It's a fact that Thai culture (Buddhism) respects cleanliness a lot more than Goan. What I am saying is not just hearsay but confirmed Biological and environmental reports. Baga is awash with VERY high levels of serious bacteria (Salmonella, Camylobacter etc.. ) as is the Nerul/Coco beach area, tests have been made and dismissed by the corrupt Goan tourist officials.
A few years ago people were saying that Goa was a no risk malaria zone and now because of the low monitoring of sewage/septic tanks mos' are on the increase.
The more popular Goa becomes and the lack of sanitation infrastructure = serious health timebomb.
This isn't scaremongering, simply facts.
