There were no joining rooms 2 years ago when i last stayed so i wouldn`t hold out much hope i`m afraid. However, you can get rooms where the doors face each other, so you are next door. Not ideal for smaller children but probably ok if you have teenagers.
Last time we were there we had 2 rooms for 3 people and when we got there one of our rooms had 1 double bed and 2 singles, so we all fit in that one but my children were all young at the time and shared the single beds so it was fine.

Thanks for that information

Hello LouLou
was the room you were in large enough with a double bed and 2 singles or was it very cramped?

Hi all, have just booked to go to La Pineda, Golden Donaire Beach Hotel on 28/8/07-11/9/07. Is the weather still okay going into September? Can anyone tell me about the Hotel itself? My partner (37), myself (22) and our daughter (3) - we are all quite fussy when it comes to food - can anyone tell me some of the options they had available? Anyones kids been to the childrens club at the Hotel? Are they trustworthy etc? I have booked a double room for the three of us, however I am slightly concerned that they may give us three single beds, has anyone experienced this? Is it better to contact the Hotel and request a particular room? Which rooms have the best view (beach, pool etc)? As for the theme park (Portaventura) is there much for young children?I would like to buy my tickets for here and Aquapolis before I go - who is the cheapest to get them from? Oh, also, I am looking for transfers to the hotel from Reus airport, I dont want private or public, I would like to get a shuttle bus. I've been on a few websites but not sure what prices are good/bad - anyone any advice? Any tips/hints for anything to do with my holiday would be very much appreciated - it will help me relax and become excited about it all!! Thanks everyone

@ JEWEL7

Can't comment on the hotel as we haven't been there, but the Golden Hotels are excellent for families and they are a well run chain.

As for PortAventura, most rides have height restrictions so it depends on how tall your daughter is. Kids above 1m10cm can get on lots of rides, but there's not so much for the smaller ones - as is evidenced by the fact that under-4s get in free.

At Aquopolis there's a great kids' pool, but I don't think she'd get on any of the slides. They do have dolphin and sealion shows however. I'd say the PortAventura water park is better for smaller kids as there's more for them to go on.

There's a good beach at La Pineda, and the one at Salou is brilliant for kids.

Have a great time - I'm jealous as we've only just come back!

Lol just saw your dates Jewels silly me its hot in the end off august/september went to salou 2 years ago it was lovely. You mentioned about the rooms, ive heard the rooms over the pool/beach is the best view and also the corner rooms on the side off the hotel have a much larger balcony, what i usually do is to email the hotel direct and ask them for what ever requirements you would like, you might not get them all,i normally do this with other hotels and normally always lucky.Well i hope you have a lovely time, let me know what the hotel is like i would really like to know.See you soon x

Dont know if this is any help JEWEL7 as last time i was at Golden Donaire was about 7 years ago, but i personally loved the kids club there when i was a kid (From the age of 8 upwards - im 21 now) - it meant my mum and dad got peace to relax while we all did great stuff in the hotel. They were always VERY safety-conscious when i was in it - including giving each child a proper sunhat to wear etc (Obviously this might have changed over the years - but it was run by Thomsons when we were there?). And i had a ball - lots of children were there of all ages, and if i remember correctly they had a seperate club for younger kids. I made looooads of friends.

Had my best holidays in Donaire hotel over the years :) I'd say maybe take your daugher along for an hour or so to the club and see how she gets on - if she doesnt like it then the reps will know where you are and will bring her to you - but im sure she will love all the facepainting and arts and crafts and games etc etc :)
Anyway, hope this helps, i know its a bit outdated - but honestly, you will love this holiday - i have memories that have lasted years! :)

however I am slightly concerned that they may give us three single beds

Most of the hotels in Europe are single beds, but often there are 2 pushed together so that they look like a double bed.

Thanks for the info livelyred and glittergirl, much appreciated. Does anyone have an email address for the hotel? Maybe I will ask for a corner room and see how I get on: If you don't ask, you don't get! Worth a try I suppose. I'm sooo excited, counting down the days - I worry over the smallest things though! Anyway, as soon as I get back, I will tell all about it and answer any questions! Thanks again!
